Blue Valley #2

New Love: Blue Valley High — Senior Year

Rate this book
The Blue Valley series is not your typical love story. It is a journey through one’s past … maybe even a story resembling someone close to you.
It’s our story.

A walk through hell ended in defeat when Lucas and Tessa decided it’s best to remain friends. A decision made for the betterment of all.

But is it possible to walk away when they share a love as deep as theirs?

Can they remain friends as Lucas tries to be the man, he realized he wants to become when he fell in love with Tessa, and Tessa goes through loss, life, and new love?

This is love, not a fairy tale.

Warning: Highly Emotional!

This book contains volatile characters in real-life situations that may be triggers to some readers.

PLEASE NOTE: this series was previously released as The Love series (MJ's very first works) and has been through a complete rewrite, which consists of a change from narrative to first person/ dual POV and forty thousand words worth of new content.

This series is addictive.

I always love a story that’s not perfect but yet so good that you just cannot put it down.

I went from crying, cheering, happy, to angst and to downright want Tessa to f#%k up Lucas.

I really cannot wait for their next book and I’m hoping Lucas really realises what a d*ck he’s been.

5 star Review New Love (Love #2) by M.J. Fields

New Love is the second book in the love series and was an emotional roller coaster of a read. There may be triggers for some so please take note before you start this book. .

I am still struggling with Lucas although I liked him more in this book than I did in the first one; he still acted as a bit of a jerk. Lucas and Tessa have decided that it is better to be friends than in a relationship but can that work when strong feelings still sizzle between them?

There is a lot of drama and angst as they come to terms with their decision and new love interests enter the picture. Also some ex’s make an appearance which added to the drama. New Love is an emotional roller coaster of a read and there were times that my hear almost broke for Tessa as she struggled .

Just wow! So much emotional and drama and tears! I personally am so invested in Tessa and Lucas love story. First love is not always perfect and a happily ever after. I could relate to this book.
This is book 2 in the world of Tessa and Lucas. It’s dual points of view and it picks up from when they agreed to stay friends. Staying friends for them is easier said than done. This storyline is so heartbreaking! Tessa and Lucas are each struck with traumatic losses and so much suffering, tears and new beginnings for their loved ones.
The storyline continues with them struggling to keep a love that is imperfect due to stupid choices from Lucas! And towards the end after celebrating the marriages of family and friends. Tessa and Lucas going to different Universities and struggling to keep and hold on to their love, it ends with me desperately wanting to read as soon as possible Book 3! I love this series and no it’s not your typical romance but I’m cheering for them and hoping for a happily ever after for them!
I was given an Advanced Readers Copy by the author through BookFunnel for an honest review.

More Emotional than Blue...

New Love continues with Tessa, Lucas, and the rest of the Blue Valley crew.
Tessa is navigating through her heartbreak and suffers much more than any teenager should.
Lucas is trying to do right by Sadie but suffering heartbreak and life changing things himself.

Again not wanting to give anything away I don't want to say to much...
The Blue Valley Crew will face some life changing situations.
Will they ever be whole again...

I've never cried so fricken hard in my damn life...okay maybe when I read the original...

This is book 2 so please, please read book 1 Blue Love.

Lucas Links & Tessa Ross’s Journey is not your typical love story, these are two people that will go through so many emotional events that will change their lives forever.
This Amazing story will bring you on a sometimes heartwarming journey but their will definitely be some heartbreaking ones too.
Watching the two of them navigate the emotions will have you sometimes laughing out loud but at times also shedding a tear. This is just book two in their story and wanting to know what happens next will have you sitting on the edge of your seat but hoping they can find a happy ending is something that you can only wish that they can find.

New Love is book two in the Blue Valley Series and it’s an emotional roller coaster about first love and growing up. This time we get to know more about Tessa and Lucas as well as catching up with the rest of Blue Valley crew. Tessa has been through so much and honestly my heart broke for her because no teenager should suffer the way she has. Deciding they would be better as friends rather than a relationship means putting their feelings on hold but is that really possible when love runs so deep.
This is a very emotional ride so please be warned because there is plenty of angst, drama as well as heartbreak as this couple grow from teenagers to adults.

This story of first love and young love was one emotional read. The ups and downs of young love and the struggles that they face made for one roller coaster of a read that left me wanting for more especially since it is a relatable story. I look forward to seeing what is next for this pair.

Book 2 in the Love series it cannot be read as a standalone.
Another emotional story. I cried and cried and cried again.
My hear broke for her
My heart broke for them.
I can't express how much I love this series.
MJ Fields has blown me away with this series.
I love her Steele books but this duet is in a class by itself.

Tragedy, loss, and toxic love is definitely in abundance in book two.

Wow I have to say MJ, has given me so many emotions with this storyline. I have cried, and I have been frustrated, and even angry reading this book. I will say these characters are very much like living in the past with now knowing the signs of a toxic relationship when you see it.

This book definitely has so many tragic events taking place and so many things become much more clearer on who these characters really are. I will still say for anyone who seems to like Lucas, I am not one at all. He is a selfish person and his mood swings just make him even more of a volatile person in this book. I think if you have been in a bad relationship, you can start seeing the big red blaring flags ahead. I feel like this book has you feeling the heart pounding ache that you know this isn't going to end well, and definitely know this relationship is completely dysfunctional to say the least. I'm a glutton for punishment on this book because I can't put it down even though I truly despise what I read at times. So I will say this author has an amazing ability to keep you invested even though you know this will end badly by the time it's all over with.

Both Tessa and Lucas' relationships has its highs and lows and continues to follow a vicious circle of the same issues with no real change. I honestly feel like they live in a bubble because no one else seems to see the pattern of insecurities they both bring out in one another. This is a uphill battle for both characters but it always seems to be more emotional for Tessa than Lucas. I really do have such a hard time sympathizing with Lucas' character in each book. I think I personally know what it's like to have someone like him and it always feels like they suck your soul out of you. I feel like even though Tessa is by far the most forgiving and caring person she seems to lose pieces of herself from lucas' actions.
I honestly feel like this book can be highly frustrating at times but also be a very emotional journey to follow.

I feel like my blood pressure rises at time reading this book. I mean how can it not when you can see and even feel some of pain that is written on the pages. This book is not a sweet love story but more of a "hey wake up and see this is not a normal relationship" guide in ways. I mean this is a realistic view of what toxic love is like and it's not good and this isn't a dark romance type of book, no it's a obvious story of a dysfunctional relationship between two very different but naive people with no one really there to guide them out of this. It's heartbreaking, and it's frustrating, and you definitely will be ready to throw your kindle many times, but you just have to keep pushing through to see or even hope what you can so desperately feel is gonna be something awful coming soon. I feel like I need closure so of course I will continue on this torturous path with these highly dysfunctional characters till the bitter end.

English

I liked more how this book felt than the previous one, but the h keeps taking a martyr role and continuously lets the H treat her bad, it's not only the infidelity but the way she always becomes his punching-bag; I don't like that much about her that she is able to accept "the pain of loving him" mmm I understand they are in high school but still, she is a doormat. Some scenes the author tries to make her seem like a badass girl, because she fights with others girls or talks to them "very plain" but in reality they are isolated events when in reality she doesn't set boundaries with H. H has a lot of emotional issues after being the caretaker of his addicted mom. In this book I do see him significantly improving his relationship with his dad and stepmom, giving him stability; but his way of dealing with the problems is to drug himself and look for other women, which the h is always alert to and doesn't allow her to trust him fully (totally understandable). I like that she manages to put a stop after having a broken heart, but knowing that there is a next book really makes me think that the h will continue to put up with more of his BS.

First, I want to say that MJ Fields is a great author. The two books in this series had me on an emotional roller-coaster. At times, I had to put it down and walk away. At times, I wanted to throttle Lucas. He claims to love Tessa with his whole heart but continues to make very bad choices. Then he acts like a victim, like it's her fault for not giving him enough attention or doing something he doesn't agree with.Tessa is a very forgiving person, to forgiving in my opinion. The ending in New love was very hard to read. He was doing so good. I was really hoping that he had learned not to keep making bad choices. It was well written because I felt her pain. She's never going to be able to get those images out of her head.Tessa should not give in so easy in the next book. He needs to prove that he has really changed. Maybe she should turn the tables for a bit and let him see her making a devastating bad choice. He needs to feel the pain she felt. I'm looking forward and dreading the next book all at the same time. I hope Tessa makes him work for it. I know as a reader, I need to see him prove himself.

This is an honest review for an arc received.

This is the second book of Tessa and Lucas’ love story. I will say, this book is a lot harder on your heart. The tragedies and utter heartbreak these characters have to endure and survive through was devastating. But I loved seeing the growth with them, both individually and also as a group. You will love Lucas and at the same time want to throttle him. Tessa will show strength that she never knew she had, and their friends will become their own little family. This is a total coming of age series, and I’m loving every single moment of it. Can’t wait for the book 3!

5 heartbreaking stars! The way MJ Fields develops her character is amazing. You feel what they feel, and experience joy and heartbreak right along side of them. You feel their struggles and insecurities, but then you get to watch some of them become the person that you knew they would be. Lucas has his demons and Tessa has her insecurities, which can sometimes bring out the worse in each other. But together they fight through to bring out the best in each other.

My heart was a little sad going into New Love, after reading Blue Love the 1st book in the series i knew the heartache Tessa & Lucas were facing & i truly hurt for them both!! I'm seriously so vested in this that i feel like i'm on the sidelines looking in.... I cry when they do, or yell & snap them lol I've never in my life & all the books i have read been this vested into characters that it blows my own mind!! New Love is amazing though, its about young love & the struggles of what loving a person does to your soul. Tessa & Lucas are the symbols so many of us have faced growing up & being in love for the 1st time. What we wouldn't do for that person we've giving are heart too, the happy the hurt & the heartbreak of 1st loves & what inner struggles most of us have. This is definitely a MUST READ!! But be warned you will need tissues & an entire day because once you've start reading it's impossible to put down.
~I've received an ARC of this book & agreed to not give any spoilers~

I volunteered to read and review an advanced readers copy of New Love . I love this story . This is book two in the Blue Valley series . Tessa decides it better for her if she and Lucas are just friends . Her heart cannot take all the crap he continues to hand her . There is not any trust left and Lucas continues to get in his own way . The hits keep coming . This story is well written and so very emotional . This story of young love just rips your heart out . It is a rollercoaster ride of emotion . Lucas really does not deserve Tessa . I cannot wait for the next story in this series . This is a redo of the first series by Ms. Fields and the series that drew me in to her stories . I highly recommend taking the time to read .

Grab the tissues for this one, you're going to need them! Tessa and Lucas are an absolute force of nature, life keeps throwing everything at them and even though they try to stay just friends, the love they have for each other is always there lurking between them.. three words, eight letters. I loved the nineties nostalgia, the music, tv shows and sweet valley high books, having grown up in that era makes you remember the frustration of not being able to call anyone at the drop of a hat, when there was no social media and life was just a little more simple. There was still tragedy, heartbreak angst and teenage hormones running rampant. This was one was mighty emotional rollercoaster of a book and I am loving every single minute.

Ohh my heart!! I loved this book and it’s intensity had me invested emotionally with Tessa and Lucas. Book 2 has so much more triggers than book 1. This storyline picks up with Tessa and Lucas remaining friends. Their love is just too strong, too mature to not be together.
As the storyline progresses there will be tragedy and secrets revealed. The author created a believable story and characters, real life in writing. Through it all Tessa who is such a mature and responsible lady and Lucas also responsible, will mature fast enough through this story!
It’s a well written story with great narrative and important secondary characters. So much goes on in this book and I did take my time reading it. I am really looking forward to reading Book 3

New Love is continued from Blue Love. This book is more emotional. You will see Lucas walk away from his true love and push her away. He says he will never love Sadie but he wants to do what is right and what is expected of him by the love of his life, his only true love, Tessa.

Tessa decides to leave town for a few days and something unexpected happens. Then a few more unexpected events happen. Will Tessa ever be the same again? Will she hide from her friends or lean on them for support? What about Lucas does he go back to drinking and messing around or does he lean on anyone?

You will see the gang come together to be there for one another. Most importantly, we will see how they cope with how different life is for all of them.

I really wanted to know what happened with Tessa and Lucas after reading Blue Love. While I didn’t feel like I really connected with them in book one, I was still curious about where their story would lead. Unfortunately, I’m still struggling with reading about these two. So much happened in the first 30% that I couldn’t possibly guess what would happen next. Tessa is all over the place. The way she jumped from guy to guy was frustrating. I didn’t find her feelings for any of them to be believable. I’m just at a loss for words when it comes to Lucas. He makes really crappy decisions that continue to make life harder for him. Even if he has the best intentions, things just always go sour. This series just keeps getting more difficult to read.

Picking right up where Blue Love left off we have New Love, book #2 in the series and this is a highly emotional read - you completely feel the angst and heartache, at times my heart totally broke for Tessa and how someone so young had be dealt with so much pain.

Opting to be just friends, this is the story of how Lucas Links and Tessa Ross navigate their new ‘normal’, but with both ex’s and new love interests adding to the drama, this book definitely keeps you on your toes.

I can’t wait to grab the next continuation of their story, I’m desperately hoping they both find their HEA ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ without doubt

New Love is the continuation of Tessa and Lucas story plus we get to follow the rest of Blue Valley High. These two have so many hurdles to jump and the hits just keep on coming as they navigate their way. Emotions run high the angst is felt coming off the page and the choices they both make are not always wise but young love is never easy.

I will say its not very often a book rips my heart out and has me bawling like a baby but MJ did with this emotional roller coaster, make sure you don't have to go anywhere when you start as you won't want to stop and have the tissues ready. Can't wait fir the next book

Not a standalone. For most of this book, Lucas is a different and better person than the previous book. The group of them go through tremendous loss, especially Lucas, who’d gets a double whammy. Tessa gets mad and acts like a crazy person at times and occasionally uses illicit substances. Jade is Jade, but the changes in her life are monumental. Ben is interesting. Some of Lucas’ new friends at the end are awful. There are a lot of relationship transitions among characters. Cliffhanger ending.

I received a free copy of this book.

Up the hill of emotions...

New Love...this is definitely a new kind of love with the second book in the series. New levels of love, new feelings, new laughs and new tears are perfectly written to make the reader feel every emotion the characters experience. I can tell you that you will love and hate very much through this book. You will feel it in your bones. Way deep down in you belly and in your soul. Thank you for a beautifully rewrite on a series that has all the feel and I LOVE.

Cheating isn't romantic

Way too much god, Jesus, and religion in this series. I prefer my romance without cheating or religion.

She gets cheated on over and over and he treats her so poorly showing her how he sees her and the lack of respect and she just keeps going back. Her love is unwavering

I get that there's so many women have that toxic love, that can't get enough but also way too much. But unfortunately their connection felt superficial and he was just so bad I didn't see anything redeeming

Beautiful love yet so much heartbreak💔

How many times can a heart break? 💔
How many tears have been shed? 😭

Loving Lucas is so natural, yet so hard!
Tessa deserves better but her heart wants what the heart wants. ❤️

This book portrays the perfect love with lovers who are not only on different pages but perhaps not even in the same book! There's a long road ahead to repair the damage that's been done, but if any author can redeem a bad boy, it's MJ Fields.

New Love continues with Lucas and Tessa navigating through challenges that no senior should endure. Lucas wanting to do right by Sadie has left Tessa feeling heartbroken. Lies are revealed and tragedy that will rock their world has these two on a path of fighting for a love at the truest form. My heart broke through this story. I love Lucas but man does he know how to rip a heart out. This is book 2 of the rollercoaster that will grab your heart!

SO MUCH BETTER

This rewrite??? EVERYTHING. I'm so glad she did it this way. But Lucas? I just cant with him. How he ever gets it right... I will never know. He keeps making the same dumb mistakes. I want to like him...but these moves are just NOT cool. But... Im detrimined to see the end. I jumped ahead so I know they do get there... I just don't know how... I continue....get it people. LOL

ugghhh these people

I am so sucked into this book but I absolutely hate these characters. Both are stupid and immature people. Tessa keeps letting Lucas do the same thing over and over. Being physically attracted to someone is just not enough.Lucas can’t stop saying sorry or screwing up. He needs to get himself together and move on. Still can’t wait to see what happens next with these 2.

Oh MJ Fields has put my heart through the ringer. When the bulb says highly emotional I should have prepared better.

These two have so many ups and downs but they are linked and that pull never fully goes away. I cannot wait to see what comes next. All I know is I will be one clicking that book too.
