A Hand Full Handheld
It's not unusual that when someone creates a great product that its success spawns a number of derivative products. Recently I have noticed a number of handheld vacuums with cylindrical shapes in their bodies, each claiming greatness. I became interested because there must be something to this new design, but who do you trust? I studied the items in the category and compared their features. A few stood out above the others, but again, who? Only one was from a company I have been familiar with for some time: Baseus! I have purchased a number of Baseus' products and have had nothing but great experiences with them all. I ordered the 135W Baseus A3 Car Vacuum, model CRXCQA3.The vacuum arrived in a very tidy package. It was a box with two more boxes inside filling the entire space. One box contained the vacuum itself. The other contained a nice drawstring bag that can store everything. Everything includes the vacuum, of course, a USB charge cord and two extremely clever attachments. One thing that immediately impressed me is how sleek the vacuum looks. It's a perfect cylinder with spherical ends. It appears very industrial and handsome. A lot of thought obviously went into the design. It's 11-1/2" long and 2-1/4" in diameter and weighs just over a pound and a half. The majority is metal and overall it feels very sturdy in my hand. A section of the tube near one end is 2-5/8" long and is a very clear plastic. This is the dustbin. Inside this the powerful motor is protected by two conical filters. The first, a pre-filter, is an extremely fine metal mesh. Inside of it is a HEPA filter. Both are washable. Also inside of this section is a special feature I find really helpful: a flashlight! Even in daylight or a well lighted garage it is still difficult to see the floor and around and under the seats of an automobile. This light is one of the vacuum's superpowers. How thoughtful!Continuing with the clever design are the attachments. Baseus stepped it up to design attachments to work with something this sleek and compact. The spherical vacuuming end is a solid chromed metal cap with a "fish mouth" inlet. This end cap screws off for emptying the bin and, when necessary, cleaning the filters. With the pressing of a button, the vacuum has two selective speeds and draws extremely well on both. Baseus cleverly designed an attachment that slips firmly into the vacuum's "mouth" and provides both a 5" extension wand and a brush head. Normally the brush is slid about half way back the wand and latches into place. When it needs to come into action a simple press on its latch allows it to be slid forward into its working position and it securely latches into place there. Voila! Two devices in one very compact design. The other attachment really delights me in another way. Every vacuum must to have an exhaust capability equal to the volumetric capacity of the vacuum. The end cap opposite the chromed inlet end contains the exhaust port. It is round and about the size of a quarter dollar coin. Baseus designed a wand that fits into this port. The wand quickly tapers down to a shape similar to a USB type-C port, but about four times the size. Not only do you have a vacuum, you also have a very nice portable blower. I have found that to be very handy too!The vacuum has a USB type-C port for charging. The provided charge cable will connect the vacuum to almost any USB charger we all seem to have accumulated in recent years. The charger should have the extremely common USB type-A port. A 2.1A tablet charger will charge more quickly than a 1A phone charger. The vacuum also supports the increasingly common QC3.0 quick charging protocol. Depending on the charger you use, three to five hours will have the vacuum at full charge again. There are three tiny recessed LEDs on the body of the vacuum just above the power switch that indicate the current charge level when it is operating.I have obviously been extremely pleased with this Baseus vacuum, and I haven't even mentioned its 15,000Pa capability. The U.S. has never officially adopted the Metric system; therefore, we don't typically express pressures in Pascals. We have stuck to "psi," pounds per square inch. Here's a help. One Pascal exudes approximately the pressure of a dollar bill lying flat on a surface. Imagine a tall stack of 15,000 dollar bills. In the concentrations this device operates, that is quite substantial for this sturdy handheld unit. I mostly keep mine in the car and use it regularly to keep things tidy. When it is out of the car it's usually because I needed a blower.
