Judith Hanson Lasater has been teaching an annual yoga retreat at Feathered Pipe Ranch, in Helena, Montana, for 28 years. When she learned that one of her students was collecting Lasater’s thoughts — which she called “Judith’s aphorisms” — Lasater decided to collect them in this book. Featuring one thought for each day of the year, along with a suggested practice, these brief, powerful insights reflect the author’s knowledge of classic yoga philosophy and years of experience. Humorous, inspiring, and surprisingly down-to-earth, they guide seekers both on and off the yoga mat. These aphorisms address love, asana, fear, trust, expectations, pranayama, suffering, laughter, presence, the Yoga Sutra, and much more. They emphasize the experience of being present to one's self and to life’s ups and downs — day by day, breath by breath, moment by moment. A Year of Living Your Yoga is a gentle invitation to readers to know themselves on a deeper level.

I LOVE Judith’s book. I have probably bought a dozen of this one, A Year of Living Your Yoga, to give out to friends and graduating yoga teacher trainers. It is practical, wise, and a reminder of what’s important in life.

This tiny book opens worlds of perspective. It is a simple source, specific and useful to anyone wanting to broaden their practice. Taking yoga off the mat is a big step for many. I am only beginning to use the book in teaching yoga; I wanted it to become part of me first.
Thanks.

yoga has never been the physical aspect for me... its what happens before, during and after that amazes me. Long before I knew what yoga was when I was practicing I always knew bring everything to the mat. I have brought every life transitions to yoga and yoga brought me to know how to live it. A year of living your yoga : daily practices to shape your life is just that. That extra thought that helps you recalculate your life choices, how you perceive things, the actions you are about to take....

I only hope that Judith's ISMS will take you just as far if not further or a maybe a hint of how my yoga has been for me.

I enjoyed reading this book and have copied in my journal all of the tips at the end of each chapter. I do think
of them. I will return to certain parts of this book in a few months. It is really a timeless account of how to
incorporate the principles that Yoga stands for into your daily life. Fortunately for me, my current Yoga class teacher
loves this book also and quotes from it in class and reinforces the lessons. I also truly appreciated the candor of
the author in relating various parts of her daily living.

Lasater is a realist. She's also a practiced yogini with a real tap on the pulse of what yoga is all about: self-awareness, growth and allowing. Allowing anything -- from our own concepts of inadequacy to our blown-up expectations. Lasater has a lovely sense of humor that brings us all back down to reality like a parachute made of yoga mats. :)

Judith Hanson Lasater is full of yogi wisdom, but she is very real and everyday about it. Very down to earth. I like that the reflections are short and can be incorporated into both your yoga practice and your daily living. A pretty little hardcover book with a ribbon bookmark. Lovely.

The yoga studio where I attend classes has this book open on the counter. I decided I wanted my own copy to read on those days I don't take a yoga class. I read the daily inspiration/lesson when I wake up and again before I go to bed. So relevant to my life, not just my practice of yoga.
