This is R.G.'s wife, I bought the shelves and my son and I assembled them. I would recommend 2 people, I think it would be difficult with just 1. We needed to put a mini fridge in our laundry room and also needed some shelves. This unit does the job.The assembly directions were not good. Forgive the messy picture, it got spaghetti spilled on it. The feet were already attached, so I thought at first they were missing. You need a rubber mallet, although you could probably use a hammer if you padded it somehow or used a piece of wood to cushion it. It gives you no measurements on placement for the bracing piece at the bottom, I put it about 3-4 inches from the floor. They don't explain how to place the little plastic pieces that go between the uprights and the rings at the corners of the shelves. Those pieces have a little ridge on the inside when they are pushed together that catches in the indentations on the posts. Those indentations are also how you get the spacing for the shelves correct. If you hit the shelves too hard when you tap them down those plastic pieces will move down the poles, you have to sort of hold them underneath as you tap the shelves down. You don't want to tap too hard, they don't go all the way down to being even with the plastic pieces. The instructions show the posts being assembled first and then the shelves put on, but we thought the unit would be too difficult to move into place if it was completely assembled first. We put the brace on the bottom section of the posts, then put it behind the mini fridge, screwed on the middle section of the posts, and added the first shelf. This allowed us to see how high above the fridge we were putting the shelf. I also checked to see if it was level at this point. You can adjust the feet to level it if needed. We then added the second shelf, and repeated for the top section of the posts and the last two shelves. You just count the indentations on the posts to get each corner of each shelf at the same height. They don't give any instructions about attaching the shelf unit to the wall to prevent tip over, but we wanted to do that just to be safe. I already had a board on the wall of the laundry room, so I just used 2 pipe straps to attach the unit to the wall, but it would be easy to attach an anti-tip strap through the top shelf.The unit arrived with some minor damage to the rings that go around the posts. A couple of the shelves had some of the epoxy coating missing from the bottom edges of those rings. I didn't think to take a picture, and couldn't find the spots after it was assembled with everything stored on the shelves. I couldn't be bothered with the hassle of replacing it for the small amount of missing epoxy, and am just hoping it won't chip anymore. It didn't seem to have any loose spots where it might continue to chip off. There were little plastic caps that were supposed to be on each end of the rings to protect them during shipping, and some of them were broken and off the rings, so the shelves had probably banged together in shipping, there was also a small hole in one side of the box.
