-Price is RIGHT.
-Super fast shipping with Prime.
-I ordered the queen size and by opening the box and separating the pieces on the lower level, I was able to take it upstairs by myself. It's shipped in 1 box, all pieces conveniently zipped inside the headboard. The box is on the heavier side but mostly just awkward for 1 person to maneuver.
-Instructions were clear and assembly took about 45 minutes for one person and I am not a super handy person but handy enough.
-Very sturdy, metal crossbars and extra legs for support, does not make noise, holds my 10 inch memory foam mattress comfortably and evenly.
-The color is a dark brown but looks black, has a slight shine to it.
-There's about a foot of space underneath, plenty to store containers.
-Slats are real wood, not pressed particle board, held together by velcro strips which adhere to the frame itself for extra security.
-The headboard feels like it should sit up against a wall.
-The legs of the frame are plastic, they feel pretty strong and secure but I would've preferred wood or metal legs on the 4 main corners.
So far it was a great purchase!
Update:
I have been sleeping on the same bed for over a year. This bed is durable and sturdy. Would definitely purchase again.
February 2019:
Still recommend, sleeping like a baby.
December 2019:
Still love this bed, noticed that the headboard seems a bit unstable but as I stated in my original review, I feel like it's gotta be up against a wall. However, this bed is SOLID. Yes, it tolerates un...non-sleeping extracurricular activity well. :P
I've been using it as my main bed for 3.5 years now with a 10 inch memory foam mattress, the mattress has held up nicely due to the fact that the slats are close enough together that you don't sink. The bed doesn't slip or creak, I do have it on a large area rug but I've moved it around the room a few times and no issue with stability. I have NEVER re-tightened screws or anything.
Cosmetically it's held up very well too, a few scuff marks on the base but that's only noticeable by me and that's due to storing containers under the bed. I just purchased a new bed but the only reason I did that is because I'm moving up to a king size and giving this bed to my daughter.
These pictures are of the disassembly and current condition of the bed, to move it to another room. It took about 1 hour to disassemble and properly reassemble. The only bolt that needed to be completely removed was the enter of the support beams to move them. Otherwise, you just loosen the bolts as the pieces slide in and lock together upon tightening. I didn’t need to refer back to the directions for any of this. Reassembled, this bed is still solid and looks fantastic. The mattress does not slide despite the fact that it doesn't sit inside the frame but rather on top. I even tried to push it off intentionally when going to move it and it didn't budge an inch. Had to lift and flip it off the side.
Full disclosure:
Upon disassembly to move it I noticed that one of the middle side pieces was NOT locked on to the 2 locking bolts next to the middle support bar. After reassembling, I have concluded that this is the reason it was slightly wobbly/creaky.
I was so happy with this bed that I purchased another Zinus platform bed that is nearly identical.
No I wasn't compensated or given free/discounted product for this review either. I'm just a lady who is always on the lookout for quality and stylish items on a dime.
Hope this is helpful.

First, the packaging was (mostly) perfect and everything neatly protected from damage during travel. The outer box had a significant punch/tear inevitable from shipping such a large heavy item. But the inner box (yes, it’s double boxed) was not damaged, thus the headboard was safely spared. I had to unbox it in the garage, so I could carry the various parts upstairs one by one. I’m 55 and 5’2”, so, it was too heavy for me. The neat, tucked into the headboard arrangement was very well thought out, although I later discovered one of the side rails had shifted in transit and poked a 3/4” hole in another side rail. So now the bed is 96% perfect. I assembled the bed with the blemish away from view, and once a mattress and bedding is on it, no one is likely to notice.
The bed was not difficult to assemble, having both paper and video instruction available. The bed is heavy and sturdy and I feel confident it should last. The faux leather has a nice look and feel to it, not cheap looking as the price tag would imply.
Something else that impressed me was the packaging. The boxes: recyclable. The plastic bags that every individual piece was wrapped in (#4 plastic, knotted not taped): recyclable (at the grocery store’s bag recycle bin. Publix takes clean #2 and #4 bags for recycling.
The 2 pieces of styrofoam also recyclable (with foam egg carton/trays)
Paper instructions: recyclable
That left 5 zip ties and the 4x6 plastic card that the screws were secured with as the only landfill item going into my trash. Very impressive. If I could break it down, I’d give it a 4.8 out of 5 (for the blemish). Overall, it was a good value for the money, and I’d definitely recommend it, if you’re considering buying it.

Top reviews from other countries
The bed itself is very well made and it is not surprising that the manufacturers have patented this design. Inside of the bed are four cross metal frames that are light, solid and very easy to fit together. The headboard and foot board slide into lock nuts from top after which they do not apply any pressure to the headboard and footboard downwards. I was initially worried about the legs breaking now under stress but after putting it together, I can see that they is no way it can happen unless you put it together in a wrong way. The corner top bolts of the headboard and footboard can only be fitted with an Alan Key (provided) as the area is not accessible through a screwdriver.
Some suggestions for those who are fitting it together.
a) Attach the legs to the headboard and footboard first and keep both on the side for later use.
b) Fix the metal cross beams and ensure that they are touching the floor without having to push them down.
c) Loosen the bolts on the headboard, footboard, and slide in the metal frame. Do not tighten the screws yet.
d) Start fitting the side boards (4 pieces) by loosening the bolts as far as you can without removing them. Slide the side boards.
e) Very Important - If you do not want your footboard and headboard legs to hold any stress (the load should be held by the metal frame), ensure that the headboard and footboard once slid into the bolts are free floating on the floor i.e. no push required from top to keep them stable on the floor. Now , asking someone to put a very slight pressure on the top, tighten up the bolts.
Some areas for further improvement for which I would pay a little higher price for this bed :
a) The slacks are not as strong and may crack over time if more than the 250-pound load applied regularly. I would recommend the manufacturer to provide an option of extra strong slacks. I can always buy these on a nearby store for around 30-40 bucks.
b) The support on the sideboard where the slacks sit is made of wood and has the potential to sag. The manufacturer should consider providing metal bars instead.
I am not too worried as there is a 5 year warranty and practically all components can be easily replaced. I will come back and leave an update in few months and hopefully I never have to use this warranty.

Let's start with the positives. The bed's design is elegant and spacious, adding a touch of sophistication to my bedroom. The overall construction is sturdy, providing a reliable and durable platform for a good night's sleep. The assembly process was straightforward, and I appreciated the inclusion of wooden slats, ensuring adequate mattress support without the need for a box spring.
One standout feature is the ample storage space beneath the bed. The inclusion of under-bed storage is a game-changer, offering a convenient solution to declutter and organize bedroom essentials. This practical addition enhances the functionality of the bed, especially in smaller living spaces.
However, there are a couple of drawbacks worth noting. The bed's height is higher than that of a standard bed frame, which may not be suitable for everyone. This can be a minor inconvenience, particularly for individuals who prefer a lower bed height or have difficulty accessing higher surfaces.
The most significant concern arose during the unpacking process. Unfortunately, the packaging had been compromised, leading to an unpleasant discovery of live cockroaches and cockroach eggs. This was an unexpected and highly undesirable experience, raising serious concerns about the storage conditions in the warehouse and the effectiveness of the packaging in preventing pest infestations.
In summary, the Zinus Deluxe Faux Leather Upholstered Platform Bed is a stylish and practical choice with its sturdy construction and ample storage space. While the height may not be suitable for everyone, the packaging issues were the most significant drawback, warranting caution during the unpacking process. Despite this setback, the bed itself is a quality product that, with improved packaging, could easily earn a higher rating.
