The only thing to look out for is the heat this thing generates, using a Noctua NH-U14S, but it's not the recommended fan cooler for this CPU. The only coolers on the recommended list for this CPU are liquid coolers to my knowledge (as of 2/22/2020). Excellent CPU, worth the $$$ and switch to AMD.
Since last December I dove in to AI art with Stable Diffusion-XL. Now the workload has shifted over to my RTX-4000 vid card and is now getting pegged out rather than the Threadripper since AI is geared towards the parallel processing power of graphics cards. Normal 1024 renders in about 15 to 20 seconds. However, when I found a suitable AI workflow to generate rotated 3D images only then did SDXL employ the muscle of the Threadripper to almost 60% rather than 5 to 10% for normal renders. Rotated 3D images took about 70 seconds.
Stable Diffusion now offers AI video and SDXL Turbo. Judging from past performance with current AI 3D rotations and morphs to 3D scan render technology, I have complete confidence the 3960X is up to the task when SDXL serves it a load.
I use a LOT of the Adobe Suite, and for video editing, the Adobe CC suite isn't quite coded to fully utilize a build like this. Right now I've done a lot of editing and rendering and here is my experience:
-Adobe After Effects: can not utilize these many cores. I'm sure the next release will, but right now if I render a video or even during editing, I'm at most 38percent processor utilization. According to what I can find on Adobe's site, it maxes out at 16 cores.
- Adobe Rush - Utilizes all cores, but even with multiple layers on a 4k 60 min video file, 72% processor utilization
-Adobe Premiere - Same as Rush, but on a few renders I've been able to get up to high 80s on utilization.
I don't regret the build, but at the moment, Adobe needs to do a lot of work on their software to start to utilize these processors.
That being said... I can render something, and continue using my computer as if nothing is going on in the background, and that is incredible.
My plan is to use this smaller core build, and then as Adobe steps up their game, and windows steps up their processor utilization game, then I'll upgrade to the larger core and not need to replace any other components.

Which is same motherboard ,same cooler, same nvme ssd. I am happy with this after 10-14 days of running it is nice.
this machine does 21-22k hash rate
the more expensive machine does 27-28k hash rate.
this build. was 35% cheaper. and I get 25% less hash not 35% less so this has more value.

For gaming it is great but possibly not the best value for money now. Where it excels are apps with lots of threads so graphics/video processing as well as AI/ML.
For best performance, you need the right motherboard, I went for the Aorus TRX40 Master and the bios supported this processor out of the box
This is one of the very last CPUs that is affordable with these specifications.
I do finite element analysis FEA. I do benefit significantly from more memory channels and a 256GB ECC RAM size, PCIE lanes etc. The 5950x and the 12900k go only up to 128gb and ECC support is not easy.
It is still a bargain compared to the 5965WX Threadripper Pro which is listed for thousands more.
It is still faster than the 12900k in memory intensive applications such as FEA. 7zip benchmark is attached.

I run NPlus Miner for crypto mining on this and it runs at 50c at full load with a 360x 60mm thick rad.
Worth every penny!
