YPAO R.S.C. with Multi-point measurement and Precision EQ

YPAO R.S.C. analyzes the room acoustics with the included YPAO microphone to tune your system for the best sound in your unique room. It employs R.S.C. (Reflected Sound Control) to correct early reflections for studio-quality surround sound. YPAO 3D provides automatic sound parameter optimization that maximizes the 3D sound field effectiveness of CINEMA DSP HD3 as well as Dolby Atmos and DTS:X. 64-bit precision EQ calculation achieves the most natural room acoustics possible.

Compatibility with these amazing sound technologies creates an extraordinary experience. They deliver breathtakingly rich and realistic surround sound, positioning and moving individual sounds to any virtual point in your room, including objects moving overhead. Experience the overwhelming realistic movement and immersion in videos — right in your home.

    Zone 2, 3 and 4

You can transmit video or audio content to a TV or home theater system in another room (Zone 2, 3 and 4) via HDMI. This lets you enjoy viewing and listening to the same main room content (where the AV receiver is installed), or even different content.

    Great product
Purchased this on cyber Monday, the price was just too good to pass. Set up was easy, more inputs than I will ever need. I’m able to play all my music and control the unit from my iPhone via Bluetooth which I couldn’t do from my older receiver(Yamaha HTR 5840) and the sound is great.

I originally bought the new 2021 Yamaha A6A. It had a failure after a few days and I returned it. Found a Yamaha RX A-3080 left over new stock. This receiver is much higher quality than the new A6A. The read-out is large and easy to read from across the room. All audio formats are clearly displayed. Not like the front panel of the A6A where you need glasses to see the tiny washed out letters. The menus and setup are exactly the same on the 3080 as the the A6A making it a better value if you can even find one on clearance. The setup on the 3080 is easy and quick. There is every adjustment available and the results are displayed in detail on the screen including the frequency graphics of each speaker. This receiver does an exquisite job of producing crystal clear voices and even during action scenes the voices are recognizable even in the worst of ambient sounds. My room has acoustical problems but this is the first receiver that tackled the problem with ease using the YPAO. The power of this receiver is endless. With my Klipsch RF-7III's, RC-64III's and Klipsch RP-502S's it has more power to spare than needed. In fact some scenes from War of the World's inflicted physical pain with ease and no distortion what-so-ever. Nice to know the reserve power is there if need be. The onscreen display is easy to use and the video processing is stellar. This is a very musical receiver and has a high damping factor that many audiophile amps have making it very versatile. The pure direct using the RF7III's sounds like an audiophile 2 channel system. It has a phono input that reproduces great sound from my classic 1977 Marantz turntable. Excellent, transparent sound. When I first hooked it up it requested a software update. It downloaded and installed with ease. Since I am writing this review after 5 days I cannot find anything objectionable about this receiver. I suggest you try and find one if you can as it seems there is a demand for these and I am not alone on Yamaha's new line having some issues with the new A6A and 8A8 8K receivers.

This only a short subjective review because ultimately that is what matters. If you wants specs, features, and technical comparisons read the marketing descriptions, the manual, and the professional reviewer's articles. I am not saying those details don't matter, I spent years as an audio technician and engineer, just that the proof is in the pudding and whether or not the pudding is good is mostly subjective.

I purchased the RX-A3080 as an upgrade for my aging RXV-1400. In many years of use I have never had a problem with my RXV-1400 and I still think is is a great unit. It was head and shoulders above any of the hi-fi, stereo, , quadrophonic, and AV receivers I had owned before it, none of which were "low end". (yeah, I've been around a while)

When I finally decided I had enough need/desire to to add a couple of channels and integrated HDMI switching to my home theater, a new improved Yamaha AV receiver seemed the logical choice. The reviews and specs reinforced that idea.

The new unit is every bit as good and in many ways better than the old and offers new features and functionality that simply did not exist when when the RXV-1400 was produced. Do I need it? Not really but I am glad I bought it. It is a significant upgrade, adds features I want, and if the reliability of the older unit is any indication, will still be going strong when I can no longer hear well enough to appreciate the difference.

It is a true upgrade: better sound, more power, more advanced features. The menus are vastly improved, the setup up is even more flexible. It has a more features than I may ever use but it is good and I appreciate they are there, just in case, and accessing them is fairly intuitive. The audio quality and the heard sound are everything I expected as this is really where Yamaha shines. Bells and whistles are secondary but very "nice to have" features.

I have only one complaint and being an old guy it is one I have about many "modern products". At this price level it really should come with a printed full user manual. Yeah yeah, I know, save trees, it is downloadable, yada yada yada. Some people, like me, do want to read the manual and I find it easier to search a paper volume than 200 pages on my computer or tablet. - No, computer searching is not easier because if you are not sure exactly what you are looking for you can't tell/ask the computer how to find it! - Often nothing beats flipping the pages. I haven't printed it yet except for a couple of pertinent pages, but I might! The RXV-1400 came with a substantial and useful user manual. I miss that. Not all features of the features ;-) are completely intuitive and some things do want to be tweaked. For the last, one needs details.

Would I buy it again? I may never have to, but yes. Would I recommend it? Without hesitation.

One of my first Receivers was a Yamaha, back in the day when surround sound was in it's infancy. Since I have owned Rotel, Mac, Cambridge Audio, toss in a few Marantz's, as well currently Sonos floating around the house.
The AVR is pretty much if not more than anyone will need for several years, at the 1499 I paid and even at 1999 there isn't much one could ask for. It is unfortunate. but Audio/Video becomes obsolete within months of buying this stuff, I have paid many thousands for High End equipment only to see obsolence devalue this stuff to almost no value.
To take the misery out of these purchase's I decided to minimize my eventual losses, buy HighEnd but keep the price out of the stratosphere, hence a shiny new 3080 at a price I thought was OK at 1999 but even netter at 1499, not a refurb BTW, just caught it right.
I'm in the process of adding this AVR to my theater room, taking my sweet sounding Cambridge unit and moving it to my living room for music only, the Yamaha is a nice AVR for a dedicated theater room but after listening to music only, there is a metallic, think sterile sound. I have NOT tinkered much yet, perhaps some break-in time or sound tinkering, I'll have to follow-up as I figure it out.
But, this unit as a AVR offers everything a home theater enthusiast could ask for, the on screen menus are a breeze, more than adequate hook-ups, pass through which is very nice, adjustments for the source hook-ups, Yamaha's version of Surround Sound, they have been at it a long time, and at a price that won't break the bank or have you crying a few years from now you paid BIG bucks for something obsolete and can't be upgraded.
As I set this thing up I'll gladly post my impressions, but most important, my first impression is a lot of bang for the buck, user friendly, decent sound without tinkering, plenty of power.
