Very difficult to configure with Windows
I have had this for several months. It has been an absolute bear getting any sound to work with Windows. I have a new PC running Windows 10. Getting the driver to install, and then actually work, has been a repeat time consuming nightmare. I have had it working several times, on two different computers. Then something changes, such as I moved the USB cable to a different port, and it stops working. I uninstall the driver, then reinstall the driver. Reboot. You can see the device but when the PC plays sound nothing comes out. Absolutely infuriating. This has happened over and over again. Run troubleshooter, sounds work during the troubleshooter, then stop working when it's over. The windows driver is really bad. Stay away! I regret buying this thing. And there is no customer support. No way to talk to someone, no way to pay, nothing. Just zero customer support. Their other products come with customer service, but not this one. I hate this company and this product.Edit: Okay I may have been cranky when I wrote this review. Subsequently, I got the device working again. When it works I'm happy with it. The problem this time was I had to go into Windows Control Panel/Sound/Sound Control Panel/select the M-Audio speakers/Speaker Properties/Advanced tab - then select a sample rate and bit depth that works with windows. The driver and windows will set this to something that does not work (at least for me). Which means no sound will play from windows through the M-Audio to an external monitor attached to it. I found that 24 bit and 44100 works for windows. I found this is not an issue when recording music and using specialized software such as Audacity or JACK as those programs have their own settings.I'm leaving the one star review in place only because the Windows configuration and driver is so terrible and has been so frustrating over and over, and the lack of any customer service or helpful manual or online info. The build quality and the audio quality is excellent. And the latency is nice and low for JACK, recording, or just playing instruments through it.
