Researched several watches for kids. I was even offered T-Mobile's new Timex watch for kids for free by the store rep, but I turned it down for this watch and it hasn't let me down yet. Overall, 5 stars. Can it be better? Yes, in some areas. But it's accurate on tracking, has a step counter that motivates kids through prizes, call quality is pretty good, messaging is easy and their support is very responsive. Most of the negative reviews are people who's carrier doesn't support this watch. If you're on TM it's a no brainer. The watch is arguably the best looking kids watch out there. Not crazy bulky like many of them. It's big for sure, but nothing too obnoxious. My 10 year old loves it. It's a great intro into being connected...without being connected...if you know what I mean.
PROS:
See above. I gave it 5 stars because it's got pretty much everything I'd want for a kids watch. Honestly, it's great and worth every penny.
CONS:
(These "cons" will be a bit nit picky...but hey...there's always room for improvement right? And none of these cons are deal breakers. We are VERY happy so far (one month) with our purchase.
- Battery indicator on watch should show percentage, not just the icon. It would also be great if there was a low power mode option when it hits 15% so kids can save power until they "need" it.
- The step tracker is great, but is slow to update on their app. Their app is great for adding contacts and tracking the location, etc. but sometimes is a bit slow to "update" stuff. I'm not 100% sure how accurate the step tracker is...but it's close enough for a kid.
- ALL of the prizes you can get with the coins the kid earns are immediately "out of stock" when the store opens on the weekend. I'm not convinced there's any stock ever of these things. As in...ever.
- Would be great if there was more/any documentation on loading music onto the watch etc. There's storage available but not much info on how to add music.
- Battery life is okay...but could be better. We get a day out of it...so that's good, but nothing beyond that. I'm guessing the step tracker is to blame so it's an understandable trade-off that we're willing to deal with. I read some people have 2 days battery...not us. But one day is fine.
- Wish there was a way to quickly "refresh" the app to see the most up to date location and steps and battery etc...
- Proprietary charger. Would be nice if it had wireless charging like Apple or Samsung watches, but I know it's a kids watch so I wasn't expecting that by any means. But it would be nice.

Update: Xplora contacted me, sent me a new SIM card since others too, had had problems, and refunded 3 month’s subscription. Unfortunately, the X5 still doesn’t work. Will update again if Xplora is able to resolve this issue.I purchased the watch for a trip to Disneyland for gps tracking ability/safety reasons. It was an expensive ($170) birthday surprise for my daughter. I should have set it up before the trip, but as it was a gift, I gave it to her and attempted the set it up the night we arrived. I charged the battery and figured set up would be easy allowing her to use the watch once we hit the park. Two frustrating hours later I had FINALLY managed to set up a parent account on my phone, installed the SIM card, added her watch, installed the app…AND PURCHASED A WIRELESS SUBSCRIPTION @11.99 month. All so I could have access to the watch’s gps location, something I had not anticipated.My daughter and husband were anxious to get going so we we were all irritated by this point, but daughter was excited to play with her new watch. The interface was only barely responsive and it took several attempts for her to get it going. This was similar to the quality of something you’d purchase for 14.99. She finally managed to send me an emoji text, but as I had read, actual texts are not possible. She could also text using her voice, and I received notifications on my phone I had a message, but I was not able to retrieve the messages. She kept trying it in ride lines all day, but eventually got tired of sending me emojis, which was all the watch was able to do. Not that I could actually get them. I was so sad her exciting birthday gift was such a frustrating disappointment.I didn’t want to spend another day at Disneyland trying to update passwords and following other self help instructions so I told her I would spend some time fixing it once we got back home. She’d been so excited since many of her school friends already had watches. Lucky them, their parents bought them the cheap watches that actually work as they are intended to!!I work full time and hate dealing with electronics so fast forward to today, when after several frustrating attempts over the course of the year I have tried in vain to charge the thing and get it to work. We got this for my daughter starting kindergarten. She will be riding the bus and we wanted to able to track her without giving her access to a cell phone. This is perfect as it is super easy to use. I add the contacts from my phone via app. It also tracks her steps, has text message, and camera (which is her favorite part as a 5 yr old!)
Very easy for her to call mom and dad if she needs us. Even better we, as her parents can make sure she is safe and where she needs to be. In the event of an emergency she can easily dial us.
We used the nanosim card included in box. We set up and paid the additional $5 thru speedtalk for gps and data for a month! Perfect for smartwatch coverage.

Die begleitende App ist äußerst benutzerfreundlich und bietet eine Vielzahl großartiger Funktionen. Eine der besten Eigenschaften ist die Möglichkeit, nur Personen anzurufen, deren Nummern ich in der App hinterlegt habe. Zusätzlich kann ich jedem Kontakt ein Bild zuweisen, sodass mein Sohn auch ohne lesen zu können erkennt, zu wem die Telefonnummer gehört. Das schafft ein hohes Maß an Sicherheit und verhindert unerwünschte Anrufe.
Das Standort-Tracking der XPlora X5 Play ist beeindruckend präzise. Ich kann den genauen Aufenthaltsort meines Sohnes sehen und sogar vergangene Routen nachverfolgen. Darüber hinaus ermöglicht die Uhr das Einrichten einer Sicherheitszone. Sobald mein Sohn diese Zone verlässt, erhalte ich eine Benachrichtigung über die App, die mich sofort alarmiert.
