Publisher's summary

To stop a terrorist attack, a veteran FBI agent must join forces with a bank robber.

FBI Special Agent Nick Lawrence has just transferred to the bank robbery unit based out of Connecticut’s New Haven field office. Near his breaking point after the recent death of his father, he makes the move to care for his aging mother.

Declan Enright, a former police officer recently fired over a controversial shooting, has reached his own breaking point. Confronted with insurmountable financial burdens in the wake of his early termination, Declan is desperate for a way to provide for his wife and three daughters. Tapping into an elite skill set forged during his time as a US Navy special warfare operator and using the insider knowledge of a former police officer, Declan crosses the threshold and commits the perfect crime.

Nick Lawrence is assigned to the case and begins closing in. But when a series of terrorist attacks rattles the nation, the two men find their fates intertwined.

And the only way to prevent the next attack is to work together.

Excellent book, pleasantly surprised

I wasn’t expecting much from this book, but gave it a try based on the reviews. I’m glad I did. Very good plot, captures your attention from the start and retains it. As others have mentioned, there are eerie similarities with the current state of affairs.

Like 2020 but, not

It’s stunning how so much of this book, published pre-2020, reflects so much of the chaos of this year. Chaos in the streets, lockdowns. Sadly- police treated like the enemy.
It’s a good read, entertaining and moves swiftly. The narrator is kind of “basic”. OK with emotions etc. but at times it’s challenging to distinguish between characters voices.

Who oversaw the narration?

Did the author approve the narration prior to the audio book's release? How can the word "Bureau" be allowed to be mispronounced every time? And was the protagonist's name supposed to be pronounced "Collins or "Coleed"? Who proof-listened to this before its release, a 3rd grader? The author has been done a great disservice.

Really Good Plot

The main post-war SEAL/Ranger characters find themselves in an interesting quandary. I think it needed more adjectives and adverbs. I liked and understood the plot but didn’t get the feeling of “being there” like when you can see what’s happening in your mind’s eye. Not sure how else to explain it. I didn’t dislike the narrator but there wasn’t much differentiation btw the characters which could have made it a more interesting listen. I did stop a couple times thinking I’d not finish it. But the story was interesting.

FBI is Shorthanded

In this book during terror attacks on the country and knowing the people that are targeted the FBI can only spare two agents to work on the problem. Lots of things like that in the book.

Worth the download

It seemed to start slow, but picked up speed in very little time . I read A LOT of thrillers, this was almost as good as Child, Thor and that group. I look forward to the sequel, if there is one.

Good story

I liked the overall story, it flowed well and kept me interested. The narration was good overall but a little monotone.
