comfortable, extremely versatile, folds up fast
I use this seat as a lab stool at my kitchen counter. I work at the counter so much, on both cooking and cosmetics preparation and experimentation, that I would be on my feet the whole day if I didn't have a seat. I searched for a long time for an appropriate stool, and tried several kinds before I found this one.The issues that I needed to address, and that this chair fulfills, are these:comfortable seat for long hours of workease of getting onto and off of the seat (in other words, armless)fully adjustable seat height with a wide range of heights WITHOUT pneumatic mechanismfully adjustable footrest that could be put out of the way entirelyhigh backrestsmall footprint for my small kitchencollapsibie (again, for my small kitchen)vegan-friendly (no leather)allergy- and kitchen-friendly (no cloth upholstery)not completely hideousThat is a long and very difficult list of requirements to fulfill. One thing I really love about the chair is that I can fold and unfold the back legs with one foot while tipping the chair forward with one hand, to make more space to walk around in the kitchen. I can just lean it forward into the counter and leave it there. I can also just leave it free-standing like this if I leave the legs just slightly apart. See my photo for how small the chair becomes in this quick storage configuration.I have several work tables in addition to the counter, and these are lower. I am 5'8" so I need a very high seat at the counter. So it's fabulous that I can adjust the seat to table height and to counter height. I haven't found that feature in any other chair or bar stool. The chair is pretty heavy. I would have preferred a chair that I could easily pick up and move with one hand while holding a bowl of something in the other hand. If not that, then slidability comparable to my wooden stools with their plastic feet. The feet of this chair are VERY grippy, making it impossible to kick the chair out of the way when both hands are full. I can see this as a good feature for people performing on small stages, of course. But I am looking for harder nylon feet that would make it easy to slide the chair over the tile.Since I am not using the chair to commute between gigs, I don't have much of a portability issue. However, I can say that the chair fits easily into the passenger seat of my Toyota MR2 (a two-seater) with the legs folded but WITHOUT removing the seat from the post.I had some difficulty with the chair at first. The seat slides up and down on the support bar, and the parts fit together so tightly that the seat got stuck near the top of the support and I couldn't budge it. I emailed Quik Lok but their solution was to send the chair back for a replacement. Especially since the chair wouldn't fit in its original box like that, their solution was more trouble than asking my boyfriend to apply more force than I could muster. I chose the latter strategy and it worked. So if your chair gets stuck at first, get a strong friend to help you. It will loosen up with a few uses. If it doesn't, a little silicone spray or similar slidey stuff will also work.
