FAQ
Q1: Does the X825 support USB boot?
- Answer: Yes, please refer to: wiki.geekworm.com/X825_V2.0#FAQ.
- X825 allows booting OS from your HDD/SSD for faster app opens, web serving and file copying , A micro SD card is required for forcing the Raspbian OS to use the HDD/SSD for its "root" partition.
Q2: Do I need an external power supply(PSU) for X825 board?
- Answer: Yes, X825 need high quality power supply when use with Raspberry Pi 4. Some low quality power supply will generate surge power voltage to damage the X825 board.
Q3: Why X825 don't detect HDD/SDD?
- Answer: The power supply is very important to X825, some low quality power supply will damage the X825 board or not recognize the HDD/SDD. According to the experience of X820 for Raspberry Pi 3, some low quality power supply can't reach 5V, the HDD can't be recogized or maybe damage your pi or hdd.
User Manual: wiki.geekworm.com/X825_V2.0

X825 V2.0 Updations
- X825 V2.0 is the updated version from X825 V1.5.
- X825 V2.0 use new 4pcs test pins to power each other with raspberry pi 4, no additional wire required.
- Remove the 4-Pin external switch connector in X825 V2.0, please use the X735 to get the safe software shutdown & PWM fan control function(only X735 V2.5), and removes the on-board button switch also.
- X825 V2.0 use a shorter USB 3 connector, thereby reducing the overall height, so we will release new match case X825-C8 soon. The X825-C6 or X825-C7 case DOES NOT support X825 V2.0, only supports X825 V1.5.
- X825 V2.0 support UASP not TRIM for raspberry pi 4;
- You can power the device via DC JACK of X825 V2.0 or TYPE C of Raspberry pi 4 if you don’t use the X735.
- USB 3.0 high-speed transmission will interfere with the Raspberry Pi's 2.4G WIFI signal, if you find the 2.4G signal is unstable, please try to use WIFI 5G AP. (Please refer to: wiki.geekworm.com/X825#Document)
