About this item
- Razer HyperSpeed Wireless Technology: With a high-speed transmission and extremely low latency, our industry-leading 2.4GHz wireless connection ensures lossless audio that’ll always stay synced to your game, so you’ll never miss a beat.
- Razer TriForce Titanium 50mm Drivers: With titanium-coated diaphragms for added clarity, our new, cutting-edge proprietary design divides the driver into 3 parts for the individual tuning of highs, mids, and lows—producing brighter, clearer audio with richer highs and more powerful lows.
- Razer HyperClear Supercardioid Mic: Able to cut off ambient noise from the back and sides, the removable 9.9mm mic has better voice isolation and produces a truer recreation of your speech, which can be further tuned via Razer Synapse.
- Advanced passive noise cancellation: From cheering crowds to the hum of your rig, shut noise out with special closed earcups that full cover your ears, aided by plush cushions that form a perfect seal for greater sound isolation.

- First is the default settings and tuning of the headset. Out of the box, the sound and mic settings are horrible, and you're pressed for hope that the Razer Synapse software will fix most of the issues if you just tune it right. It does solve some issues, like the sound enhancements, but not enough overall to make you a satisfied user:
a. The THX spatial audio is... weird. I supposed it makes movies and whatnot sound better, but that's about it. Games (unless it's THX enabled), video conferences, etc. sound absolutely horrible, and you're forced to manually turn it on and off.
b. The mic improvements aren't substantial no matter how you tune it. None of my friends can hear a substantial difference in how I sound, no matter how many times I change, save, restart the apps, etc. Also, you must be chewing on your mic for anyone to hear you. My mic is so close to my lips that I have to move it out of the way each time I need to take a sip of water.
c. Sidetone doesn't exist. Let's just call it what it is. You'll only hear yourself if you turn the settings to 100, turn the mic output to 100, turn your volume wayyy up, and there's no other sound coming out of your headset. The wired version of the Blackshark doesn't seem to have an issue with sidetone, so it's a wireless issue, and Razer has yet to fix it.
- The range on this headset is terrible. It will lose connection around 20 feet in an average household. That means your trip downstairs to get a snack or drink means your friends wondering if you disconnected from your
- There are consistent issues of users losing connectivity on and off depending on which USB port the Razer HyperSpeed Dongle is plugged into. Apparently, if you have nearby USB ports that are connected to external hard drives, Bluetooth dongles, etc., it will interfere with the HyperSpeed connection. There were times when my headset kept on making that on/off tone that tells you that it's connected simply from my moving around in my chair.
- Discord seems to forget that the headset exists despite it listing it in the Input and Output settings. I have to completely quit Discord and restart the app in order for the sound and mic to work again.
This headset should have been a slam dunk, and a lot of YouTube videos seem to make it seem so. I wanted to keep to the Razer infrastructure, so decided to give this headset a try. After many weeks of tuning and retuning and using it for movies, games, video conferences, etc. and it's just not working out. I had the Steel Series Arctis Pro prior to this headset, and none of the issues listed above occurred with the Arctis. Razer has a great product portfolio, but they need to take a page from Steel Series and other premium brands on how to make a better-performing, bug-free headset.
Sound quality is pretty much what you would expect.
Noise cancellation isn't really noticable.
Had it for a few months but the droopyness of the mic is concerning. I feel like it won't last long. Other reviewers have said to manually replace it with a better one.

I'm spending a premium what am I expecting?
An amazing unboxing experience, amazing quality of packaging and an amazing headphones!
Not really a fan of the Razer software as you need to pay to enjoy the rich audio settings, that's a bummer! But apart from that you receive an amazing quality of audio which is fully adjustable through software, The battery of this headphones last for more than 6-8 hours of continued useage! Takes around a hour or so to fully charge and delivers a very wide range of connectivity!
Do not expect much from the included mic as it only serves it's purpose of being a mic which sounds like your average earphone mic, The headphones foam provide a comfortable rest over your ears and blocks almost 60% of noise.
Overall this is a perfect headphones for the price you are paying, vouch! 😁
I was a little disappointed by the sound quality at first. I use the headphones for gaming, listening to music and watching movies so I wanted good all round sound quality. The default (flat) EQ settings out of the box are not the best but once adjusted in Synapse the difference is night and day! (best EQ setting I've found are below). Music now sounds as good as it does on my £250 Sennheiser RS175s!
Most importantly - TURN OFF THX SPATIAL. It's rubbish. It makes everything sound like you're in a tin can. If you want spatial sound for gaming then I've been using DTS Headphone X. It cost about £/$20 from the Windows store but it works brilliantly with these headphones! You really to get a sense of where the sound is coming from. Not just which direction its coming from but also the height its coming from. Full 3D sound! Its brilliant for gaming. I think you get a few weeks as a free trial so I'd highly recommend giving it a try. Windows Sonic (free with Windows 10/11) also works pretty well. You get a similar spatial affect but it seems to affect sound quality unlike DTS (not as bad as THX though!). You can also get Dolby Atmos for Windows which should offer a similar experience but I've not tried this yet so can't comment.
All in all, highly recommended. No idea why the default EQ is so bad but once you adjust it you will have a top quality set of headphones, not just for gaming but for all round usage.
EQ setting I'm using...
31Hz -2
63Hz -1
125Hz -3
250Hz -3
500Hz +1
1KHz 0
2KHz +3
4KHz -1
8KHz -4

Comfortability is unmatched with other headsets sub $300, I’ve even converted friends from Astro, Razer Sennheiser to these and none of us have looked back.
Sound quality is great and a special mention for the removable microphone.
Positives:
- Sound Quality
- Microphone Quality + Noise Isolation
- Effective price point
- Great battery life + can be used in wired mode without power
- Noise Cancellation (while power is available)
Negatives:
- Not easy to clean
- No Bluetooth only option, always requires a wireless USB - which also means you can only connect this unit to 1 device at a time
- When using these in WIRED mode on video game consoles (PS4/PS5 specifically) it can sometimes produce echoing.
