Important information
1) According to Wacom, the "pen holder" for this product (mentioned only on the side of the packaging) is the lime-green loop on the side of the tablet. 2) This CTL-471 by Wacom has the product code CTL-471 on the packaging, but CTL-470 on the back of the tablet. Wacom maintains that the CTL-470 tablet is the same as the CTL-471 and they shipped it this way intentionally.

This tablet functions perfectly fine. The stylus is an active stylus / active pen (as opposed to passive) and the green tag on the side is meant to hold the stylus when not in use. I haven’t tried it extensively yet. But, I’m fairly confident in it anyways because of the brand. My dad used to do sports events going from town to town working on a broadcast truck. In the truck, they would have a graphics computer. The graphics guy would use a Wacom tablet because they could stand up to almost anything. As the truck would go from place to place, it would drive over a variety of roads (paved, rocky, dirt, etc.) and the Wacom would still work when it arrived at its destination. As such, I trust it in regards to it being a reliable brand.
The only negative I have is the fact that it uses micro-USB. I just don't care for micro-USB. I have mini-USB cables that are over 7 years old and still work. I have to buy new micro-USB cables every 6 to 12 months.
So after using the tablet for over a year, here are the pros and cons
Pros:
-easily portable
-sleek
-easy to use
-runs with very few issues
Cons:
-small which may lead to hand cramps
-the actual amount of space you're going to be drawing on is very tiny and you're going to need to keep zooming in to be able to draw any detail
-there are only 2 buttons and they're on the pen
The buttons thing is really up to how much you're going to be using the tablet.
I would suggest this tablet to people who simply want to do sketching or photo editing or just any kind of activity that isn't going to need high amounts of details and hours of time spent on it. If you're looking at this as a way to get into digital art, it's not a bad start. However I think you should invest another couple bucks into the Intuos small tablets due to those having more buttons.
Between the three of them, my favorite surface texture definitely belongs to the CTL471. For whatever reason, the 490 creates a "scratchy" sort of feeling with the pen included, and although the surface is matte (smooth), I was surprised to find that I prefer the smooth yet subtly grippy surface on the 471. It's really difficult to describe - but if you prefer a glossy surface your pen can slide over, this would probably not fit that preference.
People who decided to give a lower rating on this product because the surface area is small...what? Anyone can always look up specifications and dimensions of a graphics tablet before purchasing. The 471 comes in both small and medium sizes, but it is always safe to assume that any Wacom product under $100 is going to be on the smaller side. If you want a bigger surface area to work on, there are alternatives like Parblo and Huion which have great value and much more room to work on.
Personally? I like small surfaces because I'm very detail oriented and spend most of my time zoomed in while working.
Anyways, I will only deduct stars if this product shows sign of early wear or unreasonable malfunctions. If it holds up, I will probably purchase another one, just because I love the texture and size of this little guy.
Overall it's a great tool which takes no room in my bag but does such big things. Also you may want to get a little case which are pretty affordable to protect it and minimize chances of it being scuffed.
