I kept plugging on, convinced that at some point in this story, the MMC would display ONE redeeming quality. Just one.
That didn't happen.
By the end of the book, I'm still not convinced he's even into her. His extremely horrific and debasing thoughts about her (many of which he freely told her) were continued right up until the end. And he didn't show any interest in her beyond a free fuck as his fake fiancee until they had given her the huge makeover and she suddenly looked like every other malibu Barbie he had gone for before. He never once respect her, and he showed very few qualities that differentiated him from his "evil" twin brother aside from the fact that according to him, he would never cheat.
Yet the MMC constantly believed his far-fetched lies, and submitted to all of his treatment, and went along with everything. And she was attracted to him for.....reasons. He's an asshole who forces himself on her sexually a few times, but she goes along with it each time because body betrayal. The same body betrayal that led to her sleeping with his brother in the beginning and starting all of this. Smh.

So many unneeded filler scenes that I skimmed a ton just to get back to the actual plot. There are two more books, but I don't see anything worth continued reading in either of these MCs.

AN ACTUAL HONEST REVIEW

The obvious focus on money is almost an obsession. What with the description of watches and cars. It turned me off at first glance. Then came the cliche 'I'm a virgin' dance.

Dialogue between characters fell short from the start. It was too awkward for me.

I don't think there'd be any depth to the plot and I'm not up for struggle reading.

Thank you Author & Candi Kane PR for providing me with an eARC copy of this book.

“There is something about her, something untouchable and pure. Something possibly refreshing.”

This book was phenomenal. I had so much fun reading it. The writing style was beautiful and the storytelling sucked me into the story. The characters were flawed which is so relatable it adds to the story and made enjoyable to read.

Dare is such an asshole throughout the book and I wanted to punch him in the face sometimes. Honestly, his personality makes sense once you read about his family. I understood the why behind his actions and behavior though it doesn't excuse the hurt he put Talia through. I loved his slight character development at the end of the book and I can't wait to see more of his character.

Talia has my heart. The poor girl doesn't deserve to live like that and I want to give her a hug. I lived how she defies Dare whenever she gets the chance it made her character realistic. I loved getting to know her and seeing things from her perspective. I loved watching them get stuck in a relationship together and I cannot wait for book two.

The side characters were amazing I loved and hated some of them. I hate Burn but for some reason I want him to have his own story and see how he’s going to mature and realize what he’s doing is wrong. If we don’t get his book that’s fine but by the end of this trilogy I’d love to know what happens to him.

I didn't realize that this book was the first in a trilogy until I read the reviews. Yes, this book ends on a cliffhanger.

“Talia’s unlocking a part of me that I rarely access and for a few moments, I allow it.”

It’s best to say that I am excited about the plot and how the story moved forward. The story of Talia takes many ups and downs and she fights with all the courage she has. She’s a strong female MC and I love how she is clear about her beliefs and thoughts and how well and outspoken she is with the right amount of nervousness in situations or of her control. She finds herself in dire situations and has to take a few decisions that can make everything right.

It’s a dual pov story and gives you a detailed version of events from both sides. Lots of details about the surrounding and the characters are there and the emotions are freely felt when they think about something. I am an emotional person so it felt nice to connect with the characters. Dare and Bare were a mystery to me at first and then band wow, you can’t figure this out just by reading the synopsis. Amazingly portrayed and written.

The characters come to life when they are in their own mind and the plotting and planning are entertaining at their best. The story ends with a mild cliffhanger which I am sure both the MCs can conquer at their own pace. Chemistry is building and I am dying to see how HE realizes all the things his heart feels when it comes to Talia because right now it’s a ‘no falling in love policy’ going on. July seems too far right now for the second book. Vivian did well writing the book.

It’s a 4.5⭐️ for me.

The first book in the Married At Midnight trilogy and Deal With The Devil gets off to flying start as Dare Morgan schemes to wrest control of his family’s business empire for himself before his twin brother can lay claim to it and Talia is the perfect tool to aid him in his endeavour. Dare is the typically alpha A-hole antihero but despite appearances Talia is no shrinking Violet . She’s been through a lot in her life but hasn’t let it harden her and now she’s got something worth fighting for but as the title of this book says, make a deal with the devil and it’s sure to come back and bite somebody in the a$$. Here’s hoping it isn’t Talia! With a plot full of twists and turns and the requisite evil family members, as usual I have no idea where Vivian Woods is going to take us but I know that’ll I’ll enjoy every step of the journey. I can’t wait for the next book in this gripping trilogy.

This is such a confusing review to write and absolute credit to the author here because I couldn’t stand the MMC Dare and yet….I was addicted and kept going with the story needing to know more!

Ok so Talia is an angel who has the kindest heart and Dare is an absolute rich man brat. I couldn’t stand him as I said. And yet…..I can see the redemption coming because ladies and gentlemen…we are only on the first book here!!! Anyway so, Talia decides to have a wild moment and lose her V to a rich and sinful guy….she then crosses his Twin Dare, who takes advantage of her not knowing who he is to hear certain secrets. In true Dare fashion he then uses this to his advantage and oh my god the twists and turns in this book!!! A deal is made between the two main characters and the angst and the venom between them is honestly what true enemies to lovers is really about!!

I honestly was gripped in the most annoying way….but I guess I loved it then? Honestly I need the next book right now because there is so much I need answers too!!

You are not ready for what this story is about to do to you! Wrecked I’m totally wrecked with that ending and can’t wait for book 2!

Dare and Burn! Two two in brothers fighting for a place in their families business! Two men hell bent on tearing each other apart! This trilogy though focuses on Dare and the war he will rage for his rightful place!

I will not give too much away but be ready for a heroine that will not sit back and let Dare have full control! A female lead who has fought her whole life and will not stop now!

This book sets the story up and leaves us with a yearning for more! I can’t wait for the mischief to come!

I love these types of reads. Where the female lead needs help and goes to the one person she never would a Devil. What kind of choice do you make? One that will protect you and your baby but at what cost? Is Talia willing to pay that price?

I was hooked from the very beginning, I could not put this read down, until the end.

Talia, man I sure felt for her. Not having an easy life, and life just kept throwing her curve balls. Pregnant and alone, needing help she turns to Dare.

Definitely go out and read this I promise you will not be disappointed. Honestly any book by Vivian would be recommended.

Vivian Wood absolutely never disappoints me and this book was no different in the sense. This one has darker elements to it and I am here for it. Talia and Dare are definitely going to bring the heat to us all and I cannot wait to dive further into their relationship in the next book. Lots of questions leading into the next one but Vivian is the cliffhanger queen and I know she won’t disappoint me in book two! I cannot wait!

welp tbh I wanted to stop reading, the mmc I wanted to like but he was just awful. No growth, just worried about himself, no redeeming qualities whatsoever. The fmc just lets him walk all over her.. for money 😞 the story itself was good and had potential but fell flat for me. I’m glad I pushed through cause I hate leaving things unfinished but I honestly don’t care what happens from here on out.

Deal With The Devil by Vivian Wood is the first book in her newest trilogy series Married at Midnight.

It needs to be known, despite having read the blurb, surprisingly Vivian managed to catch me off guard every now and then from the unexpectedness that was delivered in this thrilling, action-packed narrative.

Honestly the story of Talia Chance and Dare Morgan was truly a great read.
The twists and turns of the plot had you navigating through highs and lows Talia and Dare were faced within their path, however considering the two were not only polar opposites. But also enemies of sorts. It was to be expected, resulting in their journey simultaneously and individually setting them upon a rocky terrain, even more so with the hurdles and obstacles thrown in their way.
Only to establish a journey that was emotionally charged, angsty-ness being drama filled with suspenseful building, giving the mysteriousness from secrets kept. Particularly when you took into account their relationship of inconvenience from Talia making a Deal With The Devil.
Ultimately paving the way for a lot of back and forth with some banter at play between the two, especially with their constant push and pull. Creating some rough moment in time for Talia, mostly due to all that she had to endure, mainly courtesy of Dare and some from his family.
Yet the fact that she tried to be strong and do what was necessary proved there was more to her than meets the eye. Considering how her character was depicted in the beginning of the story, you could definitely see there was a little growth to her in a short period of time.

Whether it was the uniqueness of the storyline, or the fact that the main character Dare wasn’t who or how Vivian had me expecting him to be which had me intrigued. Or seeing the exploration of Talia and Dare’s relationship play out.
It was no surprise this story had me gripped, holding on tight and not letting go until the very end. Seeing as there was a fair amount of development within the plot from the exploration of the main plot on top of the sub plots.

Seriously Vivian Wood did a really great job with the start of Talia and Dare's story, and considering Deal With The Devil is only book one, it has me excited with intrigue to see where she will take their story in the next book Wed to the Devil.
Especially when you take into account the way she left us hanging from the cliffhanger delivered.

Talia Chance has always been the good girl, knowing her responsibilities to her Aunt Minnie, who raised her and wanting to help her with her bookstore. When Talia lets loose on night at a night club she ends up having sex with Burn Morgan in his car which she immediately regrets. When she discovers that the Morgan family ordered thousands of dollars of books and now doesn’t want them she knows she needs to get the money back for the bookstore before it’s too late.

Dare Morgan and his two Burn have grown up under control by their Grandfather, Remy, who controls Morgan Oil which will be passed down upon his death. Dare has big mining aspirations for the company which is constantly being shot down by Remy. When Remy offers the business to the first grandson who is married and produces an heir, Dare knows he will do whatever it takes to win.

When Dare discovers Talia will he be able to convince her to marry him when he learns she is pregnant? Will Talia be able to save her Aunt’s businesses with what she will be able to take from Dare?

This was a good introduction with some really dark characters.

I loved Talia and her sweet innocence and how she really believed in doing the right thing. She felt like she owed so much to her Aunt and when she realized how much trouble her Aunt was in financially she knew she had to do something, which was confronting the Morgan family. Yet soon Talia finds herself in over her head when she thinks she is talking to Burn, when in fact it is Dare.

Dare Morgan is pure villain. I know he lost his girlfriend to his twin brother and his now hell bent on revenge for that but this man just lives to take advantage of every circumstance to make it work in his favor. There were certain events that took place that I wondered if the timing was too perfect for Dare not to be involved. I do believe that he would be the best to run his grandfather’s company but when his grandfather reveals more about the company I really don’t know anymore.

The book definitely revolves around Dare manipulating Talia into doing what he needs and uses her situation to his advantage. There is zero romance in the book and at this point I wouldn’t even want it for poor Talia although I am sure it is coming in the next book.

I am hoping in the next book we get a better side of Dare as in this book I really hate him and love Talia!

I received a copy of this book from the publisher/author to review for Stephanie's Book Reports.

With this ring, I thee wed. To hate and to spite. Till death do us part.
Penniless, pregnant, and completely alone. Desperate, I turn to the one man I never thought I would need. People call him the Devil...but he has a deal that I can't refuse. Be his wife. Pretend my baby is his. Live in a luxurious cage lined with lies. The Devil has plans for me, a scheme that will earn him an empire. And in exchange, my baby and I will live a life of utter luxury. All I have to do is say the words. With this ring, I thee wed.

This is the first book in the Married at Midnight Series from Vivian Wood. This is the story of Talia and Dare. Talia is a girl that has not had the easiest time in life. She was abandoned by her mother and the father that she never knew. Her aunt has raised her and she love volunteering to help children and the girl certainly is a hard worker. She never stops but is also very sweet and selfless. However when she finds out that she is pregnant, has absolutely no money and is all alone in the world. I really loved Talia. She stole my heart from the very beginning. Dare is a man who is going to take over the family business from his Grandfather but he can't do that until he is married and the man just is not the marrying kind. He is really wealthy, cold and ruthless. He gets what he wants when he wants it and he is ruthless in his pursuit of something he wants. When she has to turn to him for help he knows that she is pregnant and penniless and alone in the world and the Devils is about to make her a deal that she can not refuse. Marry him. Pretend the baby is his and he will get the empire he so desperately wants to be his. Sounds like the perfect solution for both of them right? Well, not so much. She may be living in luxury and have everything she has ever dreamed of having but she is living in a cage so to speak in a house filled with lies. I can't really tell you anything else about this book or I will give something away. I loved reading this book. I loved and hated the characters. But, isn't that always so much fun. You do not want to miss this book. I for one can not wait to have the next book in my hands.

Deal with the Devil is the first installment of the Married at Midnight trilogy.

Talia is a quiet, wallflower type girl. She's grown up in the same town as Dare & Burn. However, she grew up with no money. She wears second hand clothes. Something Dare & Burn would never have to do. They are totally from opposite sides of the tracks. Talia volunteers at the local shelter. She also works and lives with her Aunt Minnie, who raised her after her mother’s abandonment.

Dare Morgan is trying to gain access to his family's business empire from his aging grandfather. However, he will have to fight against his identical twin brother, Burn Morgan, for the control of the business. The Grandfather has told them that whoever marries first and has a grandchild first, will be the one who takes over the family business. Talia and Dare meet and immediately Talia despises everything he stands for. But when Talia finds out she's pregnant, Dare sees the perfect opportunity to win the family business. Dare convinces Talia to marry him and pretend the baby is his, in return he'll give her half a million dollars and her and the baby will be financially secure. Talia and Dare had some great witty banter. I'm excited to see how their relationship will progress.

This book was an emotional rollercoaster of great writing. Talia and Dare are potentially a match made in hell, neither one of them particularly liking the other, but both can feel the undeniable connection. There are many twists and turns in this book, mixed with the suspense that made this an intriguing read.

This book will show you a world driven by greed and dysfunction. I am so curious to see what will happen in the next book because the ending cliffhanger here was definitely a doozy.

“We can tell everyone else a fairytale story, but we will both know that it’s a lie.”

Deal With The Devil was a sinfully addictive read that held me captive from the first page to the last. Dare and Talia are pure fire and I was mesmerized by their game of cat and mouse. When they meet, sparks fly and Dare is determined to learn all of Talia’s secrets in order to best his twin brother, Burn. What ensues is a deliciously dark and twisted enemies to lovers, marriage of convenience story that will leave you breathless.

“No woman has this effect on me. No woman but Talia.”

Talia and Dare are complete opposites. She’s struggling to make ends meet and can barely afford to feed herself while Dare has all the money in the world. She selflessly volunteers her time to work with orphaned children while Dare cares about nothing and no one but himself and besting his twin brother. He’s selfish, arrogant and demanding and Talia pushed back on his demands every chance she got. Watching these two spar and clash is so much fun. They can’t stand each other, but passion lurks beneath the surface. There is such a fine line between love and hate.

“She is merely a pawn in the Morgans’ game of life-or-death chess.”

The dysfunction of the Morgan family is painful to watch. Everyone in this family is looking out for themselves and only care about their own feelings. They give no consideration to others.

Full of snarky banter and heat, Deal With The Devil was an exhilarating ride. It is the first book in a trilogy so we end with a bit of a cliffhanger and I cannot wait to find out what happen next.

Deal with the Devil is the first part to the Married at Midnight series. Talia’s world is crumbling beneath her feet, with massive debts and an unplanned pregnancy. Trying to do the right thing ends Talia with a deal with the devil himself. But will she discover just what he means when he says he will do anything to gain his grandfather’s favor?

Holy smokes, this book is like a train wreck that you just can’t look away from. I couldn’t tell if I was super intrigued or horrified at some of the thoughts and actions of the characters in this book, but dang! It was an emotional rollercoaster of great writing. Talia and Dare are potentially a match made in hell, neither one of them particularly liking the other, but both feel the unfortunately connection. Talia is truly stuck between a rock and a hard place. She so badly wanted things to be better for her and her aunt. I feel like at times she had a really sweet and selfless heart, but other times she just stuck her nose up at the wealthy or Morgan family. Date was… completely unlikable, haha, but maybe that’s why I was so intrigued. Sometimes you could see a softish side to him, but between his terrible family and the way they all step on each other for personal gains, how could he have a chance of being good? The two of them definitely have chemistry, and a lot of anger and even hate at times, but you know what they say about hate and love… I am so curious to see what will happen in the next book because the ending here was definitely a doozy. How do you redeem a bad guy and a terrible situation? Can love truly be found in this dark family? I have so many questions!

Marry in Haste ...

... and repent at leisure. Well that’s how the saying goes, and in this book ending with a cliff-hanger, Talia absolutely acknowledges her DEAL WITH THE DEVIL and wonders what on earth she has got herself into.

Wheels within wheels is what Author Vivian Wood has going on here, and while I am loving the story, I have to say in this book, our hero’s character is dark, unemotional and about as romantic as a cabbage. In all honesty, Dare has to be the first main male character who has absolutely nothing but his good looks to recommend himself to me. He had no charm or wit and no manners to speak of, but when you meet his family, he is the pick of the bunch. They made him look all warm and fuzzy, and all of a sudden I had to feel somewhat bad for him!

Talia has integrity and a certain amount of stoic backbone, managing to draw the attention of Dare Morgan and in circumstances beyond her control, is left with no choice but to agree to a fake contractual marriage. He has plans and will rely heavily on Talia to play her part, and it was her soft heart that left her wide open for his manipulations.

DEAL WITH THE DEVIL has layers to it’s plot, which is something that I always enjoy, and here, nothing is as it seems. Enemies are most definitely enemies, and friends, well I wonder if some of them are enemies as well. Good book, and I’m looking forward to the next one. 4-dark-heartless-Stars 🖤😈✶

Some loves are meant to be. Some are by fate. Others are done through a deal to gain power. Get ready for this emotionally charged enemies to lovers billionaire romance with slow-burn tension, angst, drama, witty banter, and push and pull. I was totally captivated throughout this addictive page-turning story. DEAL WITH THE DEVIL is an amazing book! This is Dare Morgan and Talia Chance’s story. I fell completely in love with the sexy Dare Morgan, and I could not get enough of him even though he can be arrogant, cruel, callous, cold, and entitled. Vivian Wood writes stories that are so palpable that her characters steal their way into your heart and remains for a long time.

Talia and her best friend, Olivia, goes to the Raven’s Head Club—a place she could never afford to go, but her best friend got them in. After meeting a handsome and wealthy man named Burn, she has a one night stand. Talia thought a hookup means just once, keep it fun, no last names to look for more, right? When Talia finds out she is pregnant, she thought she is telling Burn—not knowing that Burn has an identical twin brother named Dare. Once Dare hears her story, he plots against his brother by offering Talia a deal she could not refuse that will entitle him to his grandfather’s immense empire. Who will win? Will Burn find out what Dare plotted? Well, read this amazing story to find out what will happen. I can’t wait to read the next book. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND this book. I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.

Talia and Dare's story ... Whoa!

I don't even know where to start ... I'm just stunned and at a loss for words about what I've read. The dichotomy of the characters is amazing, and I haven't encountered it in this intensity before.
Talia is a gray little mouse on the outside, doesn't want to be a burden to anyone, and hasn't had it easy in her life so far. On the one hand, she is shy, almost timid, sometimes submissive, eager to please everyone, helpful, deeply emotional and empathetic, and puts her needs behind those of everyone else. On the other hand, she has been a fighter all her life, unwilling to submit to anything or anyone without a second thought. Just once, she lets go of everything she stands for, and that has far-reaching consequences ...

Dare is the exact opposite: ruthless, unbridled, cold, dominant, almost animalistic in some ways. He focuses on what he wants and pursues his goals without mercy and without scruples. Only very rarely and extremely briefly do softer sides of him flash through, making him seem like a completely different person ...

Ms. Wood managed to capture my interest from the first page, and the longer I read, the more enthralled I was. I don't know any author who manages to capture the different facets of a person and put them plausibly on paper like she does.
I am more than excited to see what happens next with Talia and Dare, and I am eagerly awaiting the continuation of their story.

OH EM GEE!!! What a story! Dare has a lot of growing up to do and Talia is the woman to do it. I admire Talia's thoughtfulness of others who do not have the means to adequately provide for themselves. She grew up knowing her mother did not want her; she never knew who her father was and was totally loved by her Aunt Minnie. Talia's self sacrifice to marry Dare in order to save her Aunt was admirable. She also knew she would be able to provide for any future children she may have in ways she never was able to herself.

Dare's family is vicious and highly dysfunctional starting with the patriarch Remy the grandfather. Dare has a identical twin brother Burn and they have always been in competition with each other. But now the grand prize of inheriting their grandfather's business and wealth is on the line and they are at each others necks.

For some reason I did not realize this was a series and would end with a cliffhanger. When it came I said to myself "Oh NOOO!!!" I did not want the story to end. I am really looking forward to the next installment of "Married at Midnight #2".

I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

Reasons I enjoyed this book:
Easy to read
Entertaining
Page-Turner
Steamy
Twisted
Unpredictable
Witty

Deal with the Devil completely sucked me in. I felt utterly immersed in the character's lives.

Talia is used to having to scrimp and save to get by. She's learned the hard way to stretch her money. Her aunt Minnie, well meaning well, gets into a very large amount of debt with loan sharks. Meanwhile Dare, the ultimate ultra rich playboy, wants to take over his grandfather's company but there's a catch, he must be married and have a child to win the company over his twin brother. Talia and Dare meet and immediately Talia despises everything he stands for. But when Talia finds out she's pregnant Dare sees the perfect opportunity to win the company. He convinces Talia to marry him and pretend the baby is his, in return he'll give her half a million dollars and she and the baby will want for nothing. Even though she can't stand Dare when the loan sharks come to scare her aunt she sees no other way out to save her aunt. But can they really pull this off without killing each other?

Wow, didn't mean to be that lengthy but it's such an involved book. The banter between Talia and Dare, while at times cruel on Dare's part, was really good. It's hard to see how they come out of all of this especially given the cliffhanger. I truly can't wait to see what happens! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ the spice was pretty minimal but not necessarily in a bad way 🌶🌶

Talia is a pregnant woman living on meager earnings, but that doesn't stop her from wanting to help others in anyway she can, often volunteering any spare moment she has to help orphaned children. She's learned to make do with what she has, but with a baby coming she is realizing that might not be enough... then he comes along, the man with all the money and a deal she can't refuse. But can she really marry a man she knows nothing about?

Deal With the Devil is a captivating tale riddled with tension, steam, emotion, and passion... a tale that is hard to put down! Talia and Dare are about as opposite as two people can be, while he's wealthy and spares no expense to live his lavish life, you have Talia who can barely afford to keep food in her fridge and her lights on. One would wonder how a marriage between them will ever work, there are just too many differences, not to mention Dare is a difficult man to deal with. Will Talia's Deal With the Devil pay off or be the worst decision she has ever made? I cannot wait to find out!! If you like your romances a little on the darker side and with a hard to love hero then look no further this is the perfect read for you! Highly recommend!

I requested an advanced copy of this title from the publisher and I am voluntarily leaving my honest and unbiased opinion.

I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily. This is my own opinion and was not influenced by anyone.

Deal With The Devil is Talia's story. She has not had the best life and struggles to make ends meet. Ine crazy night out sets her on a totally different, crazy path. She is a determined but everything seems stacksd against her. Billionaire Burn and Dare Morgan are twin brothers that couldn't be more different from each other and Talia. Talia's choices put her into their world.

The plot drew me into Talia's world. You see where she came from and what influences her in the choices she makes. Talia is very likable and tries to make her life and her Aunt's life better. As for Dare, his proposition will change her life but his motives sμck. His interactions with most, don't make him a nice guy. His interactions with his family's housekeeper give us a glimpse into the man inside. Both come from a dysfunctional family but Dare's wealth on the line seems to drive him. So far he is not likeable.

Deal With The Devil does end on a cliffhanger and after getting pulled into this world I can't wait to see what happens. Deal With The Devil will show you a world driven by greed and dysfunction. It is a place I won't forget.
