Product Description
The Benro GH2 Gimbal Head is a specialized tripod head designed for photographers who want comfort, stability and smooth control with their heavier zoom lenses. This is something that you just can’t get with the standard ball head. The GH2 allows you to rotate your lens around its center of gravity enabling easy manipulation of large lenses up to 600mm. If its sport or wildlife photography, maneuverability and speed are two very important factors which the Benro GH2 supports, allowing photographers to capture those all important unpredictable moments. It comes with a QR plate which can be quickly removed by turning the knob on the side. The lens is set flat when using the GH-2, whereas a lens attached to the GH-1 is in an upright position. The GH2 is compatible with the international-style QR plates such as the Arca Swiss and the Benro PL Series special lens plates.

First off, I use this with my Induro CLT 203 Tripod. With a Canon 7d MK II and Canon 5d MK IV with a Canon 500mm f/4 Prime lens.
The build quality is very well done. Zero play in any of the parts when locked down. When Un-locked, everything is very smooth and fluid. I cannot find anything that I would change with this Gimbal.
While transporting my 500mm lens, This gimbal does not move at all. It only takes a slight turn of the knobs to lock the arm in place. Even when it's over my shoulder.
I find it very easy to carry, and with 7+k hanging on it, You need trust in your equipment.
Highly recommend this product to anyone that has a telephoto lens. And that's looking for something you can trust carrying several thousands of dollars on.
I recently had this photo shared on Benro's page. I trust it enough to have my name on it!

Anyway , back to this one...I love it. Its holding my camera and lens combo nicely. Im not sure how much I will like the arm that attaches to the gimbal but so far its not in the way as I had feared. So if your in the market for a Gimbal, get this one... I read that it has been discontinued by Benro.

One negative is that the head is relatively heavy, but again, this is going to be used on a tripod, not handheld.
I was a bit apprehensive about buying this brand, since the gold standard gimbal cost about twice as much, but I don't think I am missing anything with this unit, except the name brand cachet. I will update this review after I get out and take outdoor wildlife pictures with it.
Nice to use when panning and tilting but a bit frustrating when trying to lock.
Note that this is a heavy unit. For the intended use, this can be considered an advantage or a disadvantage; mass and stiffness contribute to performance, but only if you can carry the rig where it needs to go. Benro makes a graphite composite version which is lighter, but much more expensive.

Really pleased with my choice, it feels very stable yet has a smooth movement action.
It does everything as advertised and described.
Would recommend. It is still fairly weighty but I noticed carbon fibre makes of gimbal heads were not a lot lighter yet cost a great deal more
I researched quite a few mid range gimbal heads…and most seemed to have the same drawback…too much play in the joint to adjust swing (the vertical axis) when the tension knob is backed off too much. Not surprising…
That was the first thing I checked when this arrived…and it remains nice a solid even with tension knob backed off. This is important since it’s the connection point between the camera and the gimbal head (and tripod)
I’m actually using this on a mono-pod…and I love it! I keep the panning locked (no need to pan the head on a Mono-pod) and the tripod ring on the 150-600 Sigma backed of a bit…and the main tension knob…backed off so the camera and lens has full motion…but no unwanted movement due to loose fitting joints. I get full motion and the unit is still acceptably tight.
The build quality is very good…no tell-tale signs of poor manufacturing you see in so many low to mid range off shore products.
Tip: With a super telephoto…having a battery grip on your camera will provide the counter weight you need to properly adjust the rig to the gimbal, so it’s swings freely but maintains it’s horizontal axis when you take your hand off the camera (otherwise it might nose dive).
Pros
• Easy and accurate adjustment…with no unwanted play
• Excellent build quality
• Heavy duty…easily handles my rig (Canon 5DSr, battery grip and Sigma 150-600 Sport
Cons
• The bearing on the main adjustment knob (that locks the swinging motion/horizontal axis…is smooth, but a tad stiff. I’m hoping it lightens a bit with use. Either way…still very usable, especially with a heavier rig attached.
Recommendation – Would buy it again, would definitely recommend.
