Absolutely awesome scratchpad! Lasts for a very long time!
I have a 5-year old tabby cat! He seems to want to scratch everything in sight! I have bought him several scratch pads over the last few years and it seems like he just tears them up within a week! I love the scratchpad because it is double-sided and the cardboard within the pad is very tightly put together… So it takes him a lot longer to be able to scratch the whole thing to pieces! This is awesome! If he starts to attempt to scratch furniture, I just throw out the scratchpad sprinkle A little bit of catnip on it and he goes to town scratching it up! Then he just stays away from furniture! The scratchpad has been fabulous! It’s pretty big so it will last a long time and when one side gets torn up, you can just flip it over and you have a brand new side for your cat to scratch. This has been the best scratchpad I have purchased so far! I am definitely going to be buying more of this scratchpad when this one wears out! My cat loves it and so do we! This is a great scratcher! My indoor cat loves it, my "in & out" cats use it as well. It's very thick/sturdy, & does not shred apart into a million little pieces like "standard" cardboard scratchers. It has a very unique design, with 2 different "patterns" on the scratching surface. My cat seems to like the "curved" shape, and often lays down on top of it, or sleeps right next to it, with 1 paw on it...lol. (this is without using the catnip). I like that it's "2 sided", so when one is worn out/used up, can just flip it over - like getting 2 scratchers for the price of one. Must say, however, that this needs to be on a rug or carpeting to keep it in place; if you put it on tile, it just slides all over the place. Overall - super pleased with this product.

Well, my kitty hates this one. She sat on it briefly one time and did a little scratch motion, and now won’t touch it, and it’s been several days of it sitting there. She used to hang out and lay on her scratcher, now nothing.
My specific comments:
1. The wave shape makes it unstable. If they stand on, or jump down onto, the end that points up, the other end goes up. (Picture stepping onto a rake on the ground.) This is startling to the cat and makes it wobbly to move on. Perhaps if it was on carpet, it would be more stable, but I have mine on a wood floor.
2. Although some reviewers said their cat liked the dual texture, mine doesn’t seem to care for it. My theory is they like to stick their nails into the standard little holes, and the sort of long, sideways holes aren’t as appealing.
I’ve already ordered a different style. Sadly, this one seems to be a waste of money.
Update: I almost threw it away but decided to just try putting it in a carpeted room near where my cat likes to hang out. Well, lo and behold, she’s started laying around on it! It is much more stable on carpet. I’ve seen her try to scratch it a little and it still doesn’t work well for her for scratching, but at least she’s using it as a lounger. Bumping up my 2 stars to 3.

I’ve bought quite a few cardboard scratchers over the years, so I know what to expect from them. I’ve had the flat rectangular type and the type with rounded, raised ends. Both my dearly departed senior cat and my newer addition one year old cat liked the kind with raised ends. Sadly, those weren’t available for a reasonable price when I was ordering, so I decided on this one, since it had such great reviews.Reviewed in the United States on June 26, 2020
