    Not only did this die within hours, but get this: if this drive ever breaks or needs a replacement part after warranty expires, the company offers zero repair options. No parts available for sale. No service whatsoever. Yes, if warranty expires, you got a $2000 paperweight. So think twice before buying!

    Despite what the technical specs say, you have to have a special PCI board to use this with Windows, and that's only if your motherboard will accept the data stream (not just the board). Lost two weeks selecting, purchasing, waiting, setting up, trying to get it to work and sending back.

    The disk array is super low quality. I bought the 24TB version of the array which has two drives in it and two EV bays. The device shipped quickly but arrived 100% dead. Both drives came up as bad on first power up. I contacted G-Technology (part of Western Digital) and tech support was clearly not surprised that the array was dead on arrival. This must clearly happen a lot. I am disappointed as support provided no "sorry this happened", or "how can we help" as I was in the middle of video production in the field and really needed this device. So I wish I could rate this as 0 and please think more than twice before you invest into this device as critical production device ... you will regret it.

    We used this unit with our 4K, PC based video editing system. The choice of Thunderbolt does limit your choice of motherboards, but if you do your homework carefully and pick one of the many high quality mother boards that feature built in Thunderbolt, you will never think about it again.
