    I bought a Seagate 16TB hard drive from this vendor. It arrived in a paper shipping package (no box and padding). The hard drive was faulty and didn't spin which makes sense as the package was probably thrown around in shipping and had no solid packaging to support it. The vendor only covers max $20 on return shipping, and the minimum trackable shipping option I could get was $105. So, not only did it cause me inconvenience (I needed the hard drive asap), cost me my time to have to return it, it also cost me about $85 out of pocket - and I still have to buy another - BUT NOT FROM THIS VENDOR. No more buying from 3rd party vendors on AMAZON for me!

    I Like Seagate Products and look for the name when I'm shopping.

    However I'm a little disappointed with this item for the simple reason that I ordered and paid for a 16 terrabyte drive and it arrived in a package that described it as a 16 terrabyte drive, but after I opened it and installed it, it turned out to be a 14 terrabyte drive with a capacity of 14.1 terrabytes .

    as far as I'm concerned, Seagate owes me 2 TB

    Other than that I'm satisfied completely.

    Die Seagate Expansion Desktop 16TB externe Festplatte eignet sich aufgrund ihrer Größe hervorragend als Datenfriedhof für alles was nicht ständig benötigt wird oder auch bestens als Backup Festplatte. Die Seagate wurde von uns vor allem für ersteren Zweck gekauft und es wurden von uns damit mehrere kleinere Festplatten durch eine einzelne große ersetzt.

    Die Festplatte wurde wie gewohnt rasch und gut verpackt geliefert. Im Lieferumfang ist ein Netzgerät enthalten.

    -Geschwindigkeit
    Die Geschwindigkeit der Datenübertragung ist dank USB 3.0 Verbindung sehr hoch. Auch große Datenmengen lassen sich somit in kurzer Zeit schnell kopieren. Von der Festplatte lassen sich direkt Filme ohne stottern abspielen, Musik abzuspielen klappt ohnehin problemlos. Der USB-Anschluss ist nach unten hin kompatibel.

    -Reaktionsgeschwindigkeit
    Die Festplatte reagiert auch bei hoher Belegung ausreichend schnell. Einen kurzen Moment zum Anfahren benötigt sie zwar – es handelt sich aber ja auch um keine SSD.

    -Größe
    Es wurde die 16 TB Variante gewählt. Die Größe im Hinblick auf das Datenvolumen ist phänomenal und im Vergleich auch zum physischen Raum den die Festplatte am heimischen Schreibtisch einnimmt ist beeindruckend.

    -Lautstärke
    Die Festplatte ist im Betrieb hörbar, jedoch in einem angenehmen und nicht störenden Ausmaß. Bei Stillstand ist kaum ein Geräusch wahrnehmbar. Alles bestens.

    -Optik & Design
    Die Optik der Festplatte ist grundsätzlich schlicht, hebt sich aber dann doch etwas mit seiner Schuppenartigen Aufmachung von Konkurrenzprodukten ab. Uns gefällt das Design sehr gut, dafür Daumen hoch!

    -Fazit
    Das Preis-/Leistungsverhältnis ist für das was von Seagate hier geboten wird hervorragend. Der Preis pro GB-Datenvolumen ist ausgezeichnet und die Festplatte hat auch im Langzeittest keine Schwachstellen offenbart. Die Platte läuft seit mittlerweile beinahe zwei Jahren problemlos. Zur Perfektion hätten wir uns noch einen Ein-/Ausschalt-Knopf gewünscht, insbesondere zu Zeiten von hohen Energiepreisen und Anforderungen an die Nachhaltigkeit – dabei handelt es sich aber bereits um Kritik auf sehr hohem Niveau. In Summe klare Kaufempfehlung!

    Es wurde die 16 TB Variante gewählt. Die Größe im Hinblick auf das Datenvolumen ist phänomenal und im Vergleich auch zum physischen Raum den die Festplatte am heimischen Schreibtisch einnimmt ist beeindruckend.

    -Lautstärke
    Die Festplatte ist im Betrieb hörbar, jedoch in einem angenehmen und nicht störenden Ausmaß. Bei Stillstand ist kaum ein Geräusch wahrnehmbar. Alles bestens.

    -Optik & Design
    Die Optik der Festplatte ist grundsätzlich schlicht, hebt sich aber dann doch etwas mit seiner Schuppenartigen Aufmachung von Konkurrenzprodukten ab. Uns gefällt das Design sehr gut, dafür Daumen hoch!

    -Fazit
    Das Preis-/Leistungsverhältnis ist für das was von Seagate hier geboten wird hervorragend. Der Preis pro GB-Datenvolumen ist ausgezeichnet und die Festplatte hat auch im Langzeittest keine Schwachstellen offenbart. Die Platte läuft seit mittlerweile beinahe zwei Jahren problemlos. Zur Perfektion hätten wir uns noch einen Ein-/Ausschalt-Knopf gewünscht, insbesondere zu Zeiten von hohen Energiepreisen und Anforderungen an die Nachhaltigkeit – dabei handelt es sich aber bereits um Kritik auf sehr hohem Niveau. In Summe klare Kaufempfehlung!

    He comprado 3 veces el disco.
    Dentro lleva un Seagate ST16000NM001G de nivel empresarial. Para el que no lo sepa, no están optimizados para consumir poco o ser silenciosos. Pero son mucho y digo mucho más seguros y duraderos y tienen los parámetros para cumplir con los tiempos de RAID, cosa que los de sobremesa no tienen.

    Dos de ellos los compré nuevos así que sin problema. Pero el último lo compré "reacondicionado" por Amazon y me he encontrado un disco con más de 9000 horas de uso. Eso es más de un año trabajando 24/7. "Reacondicionado" no es la palabra. Aunque comprobados todos los sectores del disco a lo largo de 72 horas están impecables.
    Me gustaría saber cómo con la política de devolución que tiene Amazon se puede devolver un artículo con más de un año de uso en buen estado. Porque después de los 30 días de devolución, es la garantía la que se hace cargo, y nadie devuelve por garantía algo que funciona...

    En fin, al menos el disco funciona bien y no me han hecho perder el tiempo con las pruebas de sectores. Hubiera sido bastante enfurecedor haber hecho la prueba y ver que tenía sectores defectuosos.

    Un disco empresarial a buen precio, aunque ya ha subido más de 100€ desde que los compré.

    A word of caution regarding this hard drive or any large storage devices. Make sure you unplug it from your pc (pull the usb out of the drive, its plug and play and causes no damage).
    Like most large storage devices or devices added on to your system, it will slow your reboot by upto a minute. This is a windows thing where it checks each device on bootup. This device will add considerable time to your boot up time.
    I also noticed by leaving it plugged into your pc all the time, it will randomly switch on, spin up (can make a fair bit of noise depending on the surface you place it on) do its thing, then spin down. This is nothing to be alarmed about, but it is not something I want it to do regularly, so I keep it unplugged until I need to transfer things across to it, or vice versa. I certainly wouldn't attempt to use this device for anything other than storing files on it.
    Concerning it's speed. I don't understand why other people have been getting moderately slow speeds from this device. I have a high end gaming rig, with more than 64gb ram and a rtx3090 card (waiting on the 3090ti card). I have multiple high capacity storage devices, all ssd's. However I bought this device as a back up offline device. You can never have enough back up options should the unthinkable happen.
    Regardless I have been getting up to 230mb/s in both read and write on file transfers. Which for a simple sata drive is pretty impressive, but obviously nowhere near as fast as a ssd.
    Overall I am pretty impressed with this device. However, it has a very high price range given it's only a 16tb drive, in all honesty it should be half the price for which I paid for it by now.
    I have never had problems with Seagate drives and i've had a few I can tell you over the years, but they have never failed me once, unlike other 'big' manufacturers have in the past at critical times.
    If your looking for a really reliable storage device, then your not going to go wrong with this device. The only thing that really concerns me to some degree, is just how expensive it is, it shouldn't be the price I paid for it by now. However I wouldn't swap it out for any other drive at present. I like my reliability. Is it worth buying, yes, but on the flip side, its really expensive. It all depends on how much you value reliablity, you wont go wrong with this drive.
