It's a petty complaint, but for nearly $500, gluing tearaway plastic between layers of permanent plasic demonstrates an incredible oversight -or- production issues.The yeti appears very sturdy. The telescoping handle appears well made. We are taking it on a weeklong camping trip and will compare it with other coolers to compare insulation and ice retention

We roadtrip a lot and have a Yeti zip up cooler that takes a lot to unzip while actually moving. We got this one to take on road trips. Much easier to open, keeps things cold for days, and if you ever need to jack up your car to change a tire you can rest it on te cooler while you work (ok, that was a joke but this thing is a tank).

I put the hopper 12 and roadie 20 next to it for a size comparison. I needed a bigger cooler for larger parties since the roadie 20 doesn't hold enough. The roadie 48 is perfect. For really big parties I can use both. I thought it would be too small but it was perfect. I think the roadie 60 would be a bit too big. The wheels and handle allow it to roll with ease. The newer roadies are a lot lighter than the Tundra's with similar capacity. Amazon actually sent me a tundra on accident the first time. However I was able to return it and get this one no problem.

We love this cooler! Debated over the traditional shape vs. this one. The advantages to this one are that it's nice and deep, so you can fit tall things (bottles of wine) and the removable tray on top still leaves plenty of room below. It really holds a lot of stuff. The shape is perfect for taking on the pontoon boat, as it tucks in behind one of the seats or can come out to be an extra cocktail or snack table, as the height is not too low. It fits nicely in the back of my crossover SUV for trips back and forth and because of it's shape, doesn't take up too much room. It's a little heavy to lift when full for one person, but the wheels solve for that and it really is a smooth ride.

This is a really pricey cooler. It is easy to maneuver and very sturdy. However, it doesn't hold ice nearly as long as I expected. We've taken it on five road trips, including two in the winter and spring when we weren't in high temperature areas, and we've still had to drain it and replace the ice almost every day to every other day, just like we did with our old, cheap Coleman cooler. It's also very deep rather than wide, and we bought the gray version so it's very dark, so drinks get lost at the bottom and you have to shove your hand in icy cold water to fish around for them. For $450, I guess I expected a little more.

Bought a roadie 48 from Dawsons in the UK via Amazon a few weeks ago. The cooler had a manufacturing defect and was covered in several scratches. The box even had a return label from a previous customer! Dawsons should have returned this to Yeti instead of putting it back into stock. When I called them (I spoke with a very abrupt and rude lady) they denied any responsibility stating the responsibility sat with Amazon, as they fulfilled the order.

I got in touch with Yeti customer support who sorted me out with a warranty replacement in the space of 48 hours. Great service by Yeti, and a great cooler… just be mindful who this is sold by.

(Amazon customer support also sorted me out with a gesture of goodwill which was very appreciated.)
