This lens is also pretty heavy for lack of electronics, but not nearly as heavy as other 70-200mm f/2.8 lenses.
This lens did take some getting used to, not sure why though. Before i bought this i went to the local camera shop and tried some other 70-200mm f/2.8 lenses that were way out of my budget, i put them on and started shooting as usual and the images were perfect. I had to change a few things on my Nikon D200. I also noticed some weird compression on some images at 70mm, like shooting down a fence row, it made the fence look like it was only half as long as it actually is, it looked great, but i just found it strange.
I also found (in my opinion) that this lens is best at f/5.6, if i have enough light i shoot everything at that f stop as it super sharp. Close up objects / people in f/2.8, the focal point is crazy sharp as well. I prefer shooting this lens at 70-105mm, the closer you get to 200mm, the softer the image gets. I have only been using this lens for a few days, and we have had some dangerous wind chills, so i have not really had a good chance to get outside and see what this thing can really do. But from what i have seen so far i am very excited to get this outside, maybe to the lake, and really test it out.
If you are on a budget and are in need of a fantastic lens, you cannot go wrong with this one. For the price, it's brilliant.
EDIT: I have had been able to spend some time with this lens now, and have gotten used to shooting with it on almost a daily basis. I pretty much use it for shooting abandoned buildings, old barns and one room school houses. I have done some macro work with it just to see what it was capable of, and it has really impressed me. This thing has some amazing depth of field also, the Bokeh is very nice.
Now that i am more familiar with this lens i am updating the photos in my review to some better shots i taken with it lately on my Nikon D200.

I chose the free shipping. Wasn’t expecting it until April 16-May 6. Got it on April 5th!!! Was super excited.
It also came in a nice case for storage!
