Ready for the Modern Broadcast Studio

Delivering clear, detailed audio for podcasting, streaming, and recording, the Samson Q9U Broadcast Dynamic Microphone will be at home in any type of studio setup. It's equipped with a balanced XLR output to plug directly into your mixer or audio interface. And for an even simpler setup, its USB-C connection delivers 24-bit/96kHz audio directly to your computer. The included swivel yoke mount allows for easy positioning, and can be attached to any standard mic stand. Complete with a headphone output for direct monitoring, low-cut filter and mid-presence boost controls, and a handy mute button, the Samson Q9U Broadcast Dynamic Microphone is a versatile mic indeed.

Ready for any type of studio setup

Whether you're podcasting, streaming games, or recording music, the Q9U Broadcast Dynamic Microphone is ready to serve. Use the analog XLR output to connect to your mixer or audio interface. Or use its USB-C output to send 24-bit/96kHz audio directly to your computer — the USB cable is even included. Home recordists at Sweetwater especially appreciate the included swiveling yoke mount, which allows for flexible positioning no matter what type of mic stand you choose.

Superior sound for streaming, podcasting, and anything else

Whatever your application, you can expect vibrant, detailed audio from the Samson Q9U Broadcast Dynamic Microphone. Unlike some broadcast mics, the Q9U offers plenty of output, requiring less gain at your preamp to get your levels right. The microphone element is equipped with a humbucking coil to minimize noise and interference. Use the low-cut switch to reduce boominess and rumble, and switch on the mid-presence boost to help your voice cut through. And when you need a direct-to-computer recording solution, you can expect stellar results thanks to its 24-bit/96kHz digital output.

No drivers or interface required

Whether you're using a Mac or a Windows computer, the Samson Q9U Broadcast Dynamic Microphone is plug and play. No need to download additional drivers to get things going makes the Q9U especially appealing for broadcast studios with multiple workstations — it's ready to go on all of them, just connect via the included USB cable and go.

What a sleeper

This was a perfect intro mic for me and my tiny podcast. I didnt feel like I over paid for "design" and brand and got plenty of helpful features. Plus, it just works! Plug it in and good to go. I have a decent budget, so my selections were wide, it was very enticing to pick all the industry standards and shiny new designs, in the end, I am just starting out, so I didnt want to over spend or get distracted by shiny design.

This mic sounds really good, has the right features to make even my voice sound good, and its priced more than fair, and honestly, if more people knew about this sleeper it would be pricier. There are other mics that look great, have brand rec, and have less features, terrible plosives and mid rangey frequency harshness. Do the right thing and put your toe in the water with this solid unit.

I may still buy the industry standard and shiny things in the future, but if you are like me, starting out and unsure if you want to overspend on hobby you may put up and down, get the Samson. I am recommending to all my pals.

Love this mic!

While I don't really podcast or broadcast, I really wanted a good broadcast mic for my conference calls and gaming purposes, and, I wanted something that looked really cool, without breaking the bank. I haven't plugged it into the USB interface yet, but as a USB mic in my laptop, it works great! I love that I can mute on the mic, and that I can also use headphones to monitor and listen to calls. I can't endorse the USB cables that come with it though...I had to get better cables, and without the ferrite core...it really made me sound like I was using a voice changer...now, I sound like myself. This is a cool mic, and it feels like something that will last a long time. And, of course, thank you Stephen Oppenheim for the assist!!!

Awesome when it's working

I'm using this microphone mostly for conference calls and corporate presentations, and bought it mostly for the ambient rejection, which it is awesome at.

It occasionally gets in a weird state where it won't transmit sound, and I have to tap it and/or toggle the high-pass and mid boost switches to get it to start working again. I'm not sure if the issues go away if you connect it by XLR instead (not an option for me), if I got a lemon, or if these issues are common with this model, but it's a bit annoying to get on a call and have this issue pop up.

Promising, but couldn't deliver

I really wanted to like this microphone.
I had previously owned a Samson Q2U, an excellent mic that I recommend to everyone.
When I saw that this mic was in the same "line", I was very excited to get a hold of it.
Sadly, it is inferior. When connecting with USB, there is a lot of noise, and XLR output is far too quiet, even with a preamp. No matter how close to the mic I was, my voice anyways sounded distant.
I still recommend the Q2U over this. At half the price, it's a far better option.
