I did think it was a bit basic but good. It teaches the most basic steps of playing the harp. I was kind of hoping to see a few more plucking and placement exercises but I already know a few. Thanks for the free lessons. I’m really considering paying for the course since you were so nice in teaching the basics for free.

I really appreciated Christie-Lyn’s teaching. Her clarity and focus make for careful, caring tuition. Her ability to break things down & explain in steps inspires the sense that I can do it too, which is new! Thank you.

Makes your first few times playing a harp so accessible!

    Megan Gugliotta

I love the way Christy-Lyn breaks down the basics! She gives a solid foundation for good technique. Her instruction is clear, easy to understand, and she gives solid practice tips. I have been a music teacher for 26 years, and I think her approach to these lessons is fantastic! Even if you have zero music background, I think you will find these lessons really easy to follow. So happy to have found this resource. Thank you Christy-Lyn!

    Gentle, well-paced introduction

    John Green

This introductory course is a fantastic example of joyful, well-paced instructional design, whether for children or adult learners who “always wanted to play the harp.” All the little bits and pieces of correct positioning can be overwhelming to a new learner, for whom these skills are unfamiliar: keeping track of elbows, palm angles, thumbs-up-fingers-down, correct posture… it’s just a lot. But it’s so nice to have each piece in a discrete video, to which learners can return again and again. I’m very thankful to have found this systematic introduction to harp technique.

    Super useful basic information

    Andrew Hardy (verified owner)

Hi Christie. As a more experienced harper I decided to go back to basics and correct any bad habits. I am also trying out the double harp and guess what this beginning bit is as relevant to double strung as it is to single strung instruments . Your presentation is so clear, simple and above all positive and encouraging. You are a great teacher

I love her teaching. Makes you feel comfortable. She clearly knows the glitches of a beginners journey and kindly gives/demonstrates directions very efficiently offering examples along the way.
Before you know it you are in correct manner to play, then… You’re playing!

    Clear and Concise Instruction

    Kathryn Kelly

Clear and concise instructions are given on how to begin to play the harp. I especially liked the information on posture and height of the harp. The suggested practice/exercises to learn the shape of chords (2nds, 3rds, etc.) are excellent and so very practical! Bravo!

This course is absolutely necessary for beginners and self-taught harpers. Christy-Lyn breaks everything down for us in short, easy-to-understand segments. I watch the video, then play along with it. Then practice for 10 minutes here and there each day. Correct technique from the beginning heads off physical pain later. It makes our playing better. Thank you Christy-Lyn, for this wonderful gift!

I love learning from her, she takes the time to not only explain but allows you the learner to practice that peice over and over until you know it before moving on or adding to that same lesson.

Very good to review the basics. I never was directly instructed these steps so I am very grateful for it. I also find that I have been holding the “web” in my hand very closed. Something to pay attention to as well as pracising the brackets.

I’m picking up the harp after 20 years not playing. This is a great refresher to remind me of the importance of the basic techniques. You’re a great teacher and make it fun to learn from you. The lessons are just long enough which is good for students with short attention span like myself. I look forward to your other video lessons. Thank you.
