If you have already taken the L&L Course and you're wondering if this course would teach you anything new, here's is what I would recommend. The KJ Starter Course would teach you the foundational basics in a different way than they were taught in the L&L Course. The L&L didn't dive deep into the basics of manual shooting to the same degree as the Starter Course. If you are comfortable with manual shooting and can clearly detect good natural light no matter where you are shooting, you do not need the KJ Starter Course. The Starter Course is truly for beginners. We are known in the industry for having courses that are geared more towards established photographers, The Starter Course is our first course that was truly designed with only beginners in mind.

It’s so much smarter to do all of this at the very beginning and set your business up for success well with the right foundation, instead of having to go back and change things a year or two in! You will not need to download the video files in order to access them. You will simply be able to log in and view your videos online. However, you will need an adequate internet connection to allow the videos to load so you can watch them!

It depends on what you struggle with. If you’re never freaking out over settings while shooting and you can find good, natural light most of the time, then you would probably be ready for the Lighting and Locations Course. If you really struggle still with settings and understanding what creates “good” light, then the Starter Course is the foundation you need before anything else.
The L&L Course touches on Manual shooting at the very beginning but I didn’t dedicate multiple lessons to diving into every part of the manual shooting process. I also didn’t give multiple ways to learn the manual shooting content. This Starter Course breaks down the basics in multiple ways for more chances of the content “clicking”. It’s teaching what is taught at the very beginning of the L&L Course just in a much more thorough way. The lighting portion of the Starter Course is similar. It’s the same content as the basic lighting info in the Lighting and Locations Course but it’s broken down differently and is catered more towards beginners instead of photographers who want to step up their game. The L&L goes into much more detail but doesn’t explain the basics the way the Starter Course does. So if you need strong foundational skills, you need the Starter Course. If you’re pretty solid in manual shooting but need to step up your game, you’re ready for L&L!

Do you constantly struggle to create consistent work because even though you KNOW what the manual settings control, you don’t have a plan for how to find the right settings in different scenarios, then this would be great for you!
