You attach the grip's microUSB cable to the camera's Multi port.
There is no power control on the grip, so you still have to turn the power on using the button on the top of the camera/ This necessitates an extra, time consuming step. In my opinion, there should be provision for ON/OFF control of the camera on the handle. Because of arthritis in my fingers, this results in a little bit of a juggling act.
There's a control for the zoom lens, which is very handy. It is easily accessible to the thumb and operates smoothly - for a person without the dexterity issues I noted above. After a couple of tries, I found that my limited dexterity made the controls somewhat difficult to manipulate.
Buttons for still photos and video are easily accessed by the thumb, again presuming no dexterity issues.
The camera may be positioned in selfie or normal mode. Fully abled vloggers and selfie takers will love how simple this grip makes their lives. The flip-up screen on the RX 100 comes into its own when using this grip. I do wish the legs were a little longer, though. The head of the grip, by the way, tilts forward and back.
The grip's legs spread to form a little tripod, which is usable as long as you don't have the camera tilted too far forward or back.
My one complaint is that I think the grip is over-priced. In my opinion, it should sell for half it's list price or less.
I don't hold Sony responsible for the difficulties I encountered: my disability is not their responsibility - and I really do wish the product was more comfortable for me to use.
Jerry
