Sons of Sinister #1

Shattered Skull

Rate this book
The first time I saw Aiken Cross aka Skull, he was standing atop a speeding motorcycle.
The second time, he was putting his fist through my brother’s face.
Now he’s everywhere I look.
He’s making my life hell with his vulgar remarks and seductive lure, but it’s not my fault my brother joined The Border Lords, his rival crew. I keep my nose out of their business and my head in the books, yet he’s always there provoking me. Dragging me into their conflict.
Everyone in town knows you don’t mess with the Sons of Sinister, but no one ever told me what to do when a Son of Sinister messes with me.

New York Times bestselling author Tabatha Vargo invites you to fall in love with the Sons of Sinister! A new adult spin on MC books with all the grunge, angst, and dirty, foul-mouthed biker boys who know how to handle curves.
The Sons of Sinister consists of four standalone novels.
Shattered Skull, Dirty Saint, Ruthless Crow, & Joker’s Wild.
This series is the Blow Hole Boys meets crotch rockets meets naughty, bully bastards who don’t give a f*ck and the good girls who can’t help but fall for them! They run the streets, the money, and can outride any other crew on the streets.

I decided I love this authors writing, and the way she pulls me into the story. Every book of hers that I read exceeded my expectations. She just knows how to entice and build a rapport between the reader and characters.

This was a slow-burn, not to the extreme but it took the MCs a while before they were honest about their feelings and acted on it. The build up was.. beautiful. (I mean, yes, Aiken wasn’t exactly the gentle, sensitive type, but considering who he was and the way he was used to behaving, I found the progress beautiful. This adjective doesn’t describe only sweet, mellow, safe journeys.. stepping outside the mould is beautiful imo) The characterisation on point, and I was hooked from the start.

Right off the bat I have to say this is not a typical MC story. There is no clubhouse, no positions of power such as President, VP or whatever else there usually is.

I think the synopsis is kind of vague and it paints a general picture which does nothing to alert us to the reality of the book.

To sum it up quickly, this follows Skull/Aiken(23yr) a small time (if we look at the bigger picture) drug dealer and thug, shall we call him? In his spare time between dealing and racing for money, he fixes bikes and saves up in the hopes of leaving behind a life of crime and setting up his own bike shop. He lives and “works” with 3 others Crow, Joker and Saint. They are ruthless, bad news for anyone who crosses them and they might as well have a sign on their forehead saying mess with us and it won’t end well for you.

Everly (17, almost 18) is new to town, having had her life uprooted after her father died and she had to move in with her mother and twin brother. Everything around her is falling apart. Her brother has changed and got involved with criminals, making bad decision after bad decision and her mother barely notices she exists that is when she’s home and not out partying and looking for a boyfriend.
She also suffers from extreme anxiety and panic attacks which she controls with medication.

What I loved about her character is that you think you have her figured out, because she’s shy, afraid of social interaction and generally a recluse, but that’s where she surprises you. She’s so mature, kind within reason and definitely not a pushover. I loved her character and her resilience. I also loved how her struggles with mental health were portrayed.

Aiken was also a great character. He was hardened for his age but not jaded. He didn’t have a great opinion of himself but he did dream of doing things differently in the future. He does try to stay away from her and pulls away so many times and to my surprise I didn’t mind reading about that (I usually hate it when the MCs pull away because they don’t feel worthy) because it made sense and I loved him so much for how he handled himself and Everly. (Yes, he was crude at the beginning and he stereotyped her, some things he said were harsh and mean but it fit with his initial persona, and we got to peel back his layers little by little as the story advanced) Once he decided he was in, then the guy was all the way in and it was amazing to read.

I think the relationship between those two was so genuine, so honest and so beautiful and that is the main draw of the book. When they are together, the chemistry is palpable. They are opposites in every sense of the word at least on the outside. At the core, they are both lonely, hopeless but at the same time they posses the grit to move forward and hope for me, not from the world or from others but from themselves. They make each other better and provide the safety and stability they both knew was missing in their lives.

I look forward to reading about the other three guys from the group as they will all get their standalone books.

A new generation of bikers emerges in romance and they are hot!

The Sons of Anarchy made biker gangs or “Motorcycle Clubs” hot. But let’s face it, not all the guys in Motorcycle clubs are Jax Teller hotties, even the rest of the guys on SOA are not the handsome cover models that would be on the front of our romance novels. And if you Google real life Motorcycle Clubs you will, more often than not, find an older generation of guys with beer bellies, scraggly beards and faded tattoos. Not to say there aren’t good looking guys in MC’s in real life. Actually the bar by my old apartment was a biker bar and I’ve seen them. But they were in their 30’s at the time and so was I.

This book is a new breed of motorcycle gang. They are young, late teens and early twenties and they race the fast motorcycles (a.k.a. Crotch Rockets) illegally for money. Like street gangs, and even some MC’s, some of them make and deal drugs for cash. There are a lot of you tube videos on the web of these guys racing legally and illegally, as well as doing stunts on their bikes like the guys did in this book. These biker gangs seem every bit as prevalent as the MC kind with Harley’s, but just have a younger crowd.

The main gang is the Sons of Sinister and this story is about one of the members of the Sons named Aiken Cross or “Skull” to his friends. Aiken and his older brother Junior had a bad childhood and were used as punching bags for their drug addicted parents more often than not, until they ended up on the streets at a young age having to fend for themselves. Now Aiken lives in a house with the other members of the Sons and they race motorcycles and deal drugs to make money. Junior checks in every few days but doesn’t live with Skull.

One night at the races Skull sees a girl that is different than the rest. She is tiny with long dark hair and she obviously doesn’t belong, but he can’t look away. The more he looks the angrier he gets. She is obviously an innocent girl from a wealthy family just crossing over to the wrong side of the tracks to get some thrills and she doesn’t realize the danger she is in on his side of town. So he takes it upon himself to go over and warn her away.

What Aiken doesn’t realize is that Everly Hart has severe anxiety and has always been afraid of everything and she has always been on the outside. But since she got to the races that night, she hasn’t been afraid or anxious. It is the first time she ever felt like she belonged and she felt free. Everly decided there was no way she was listening to Aiken’s warning and she would definitely be coming back. That was the start of the contentious relationship between Aiken and Everly.

I really enjoyed this book because both Aiken and Everly had so much going on in their lives but they were drawn to each other. She was just about to turn eighteen and trying to finish her senior year in high school after a bunch of family turmoil. While Aiden was twenty-four and trying to make enough money to move out of the house and away from the drugs since he was now a “grown up”.

The romance between Everly and Aiken was both sweet and steamy. Aiken was both protective of her and possessive long before they were together which was so hot even if it wasn’t quite fair to her. Everly is a strong female character, sometimes a bit too strong for her own good. It is sometimes like she doesn’t know the right things to be anxious about.

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book.
All thoughts and opinions are my own.

A thrilling ride through the world of Sons Of Sinister soaring to dizzying heights in the capable hands of Tabatha. The neon bikes zoom in trailing chaos and mayhem and leave you clutching to the tattered human beings . Heart touching story, Sensitive narration and shocking twists and turns make it a shocking story of travails and perseverance.
In the heart is an Invisible Girl, struggling to live alone, abandoned by death and neglected by Guardians.

description

"The smart girl. The guaranteed valedictorian. Erik’s little sister, even though I was two minutes older than him."
An otherwise promising future, wallowing in dust and ruins. All she has for company is an urn and a sympathetic friend. She's plagued by PTSD, panic attacks her constant companion till she hears a deafening roar of motorcycles that seem to temporarily drown out her own shivering, thumping heart.
Her intro to the Sons is violent and scary, but like Baby in a corner, she has no choice but to stand up and fight!!
"WHEN YOU’RE INVISIBLE LIKE I USED TO BE, people step right over you. They look through your soul, only seeing what’s on the other side of you. They don’t see your heart—your essence—your mind. They don’t care if you’re hurting or broken. They only see the wall behind you, dark and dripping with your shadow."
And you know who sees an Invisible Girl......An Invisible Boy, who is hiding behind a helmet and a scarf. He's a man with means that'll justify the end goal.

description

"I was just another street rat, scarred on the outside and ruined on the inside—so mentally fucked-up, I was a dealer with blood on my knuckles and an empty heart."
Her dormant spirit is noticed by a pair of glowing green eyes behind a skull scarf by Skull aka Aiken Cross and that's cataclysmic for BOTH of them. Their paths converge and they ride together from here on..but Oh, what a bumpy, shaky ride they have on a road full of potholes, bumps and barriers at every turn.

description

"I was no longer invisible like I once was. Thanks to Aiken Cross, I no longer existed."
It's exhilarating & disheartening in the same breath. Dismal mood, yet hope is just a revving of the handlebars away. Gloomy and hopeless but hope is glowing in green eyes behind the scarf. I've always been a Tabatha Fan. She extracts emotions out of very stressful scenes. I bawled towards the end, it screws with your brain and heart at the same time
Pick up this book and hang on, lean with it and wear a helmet!!

Shattered Skull is book 1 in the Sons of Sinister series and I enjoyed it from beginning to end. Everly and Aiken had great chemistry and although it was slow burn which isn't my favorite it was done in a way that worked for the story. My only complaint is that I felt the ending was a little rushed, I would have enjoyed more of Everly and Aiken. I look forward to the next book in this series.

Loved it! Vargo has a brilliant way with words. She makes you feel like you’re watching everything play out directly in front of your face like you could touch taste see and feel it all. Amazing! This story was great. A different spin on the MC trope and I devoured it. It’s not like any other I have read before. It was steamy, emotional, and full of angst! Little taboo in there too! What’s not to love?! Seriously though, I can’t wait to read the rest of the guys in this crew. They’re bad but in the best ways possible and completely addictive!

The first book in a new series from Tabatha Vargo and after reading this I am so excited for more

I loved it, I loved the angst, the characters, the plot, the unpredictability. Shattered Skull is a definite must read for any reader who loves a bad boy that rescues a fragile heroine.

Shattered SKULL does have scenes of attempted rape, so it's not for the fainthearted, however, I am used to a darker kind of stories and plots being a lover of MC reads and Shattered SKULL was a nice change from the usual MC kind of read. A new generation of biker gang, a whole lotta hotness!!

My heart hurt for Everly, a young eighteen year old woman who has recently lost her father, following her fathers death she then has to move to a new town to live with a selfish mother and brother both of which are never home and she then has to start a new school, Everly also suffers from anxiety so that in itself is a big thing for her.

When Everly and Aiken first meet its at an illegal biker kind of racing track which takes place every weekend. Instant attraction, instant curiosity, Instant chemistry. I cannot think of a more suitable guy to be drawn to Every than Aiken who was protective and caring despite his bad boy way of life.

So excited to read more in this series, I am so glad it is not a standalone and there is more to come from the other guys in the biker gang and I will be looking forward to reading more in this series from Tabatha Vargo.

The man has some sweetness in him, “the pleasure was all mine, baby. Now go get in the shower, and I’ll order us some food.” He smacked my *** when I walked away..." Aiken likes seeing his woman's reactions to when he does something unexpected, “it looks to me like talking about getting a place together gets you hot.” I liked this book, I really can't wait to see the rest of the boys get books.

This was a quick read. A little heavy on the emotions, and sometimes dark, but much lighter compared to some of the truly nitty gritty novels out there.

There were parts of the book that lagged, some errors, but I got through it. For the most part I enjoyed reading it. It wasn’t too complex with the plot, but that doesn’t mean it’s a bad book.

The age difference between the two characters is kind of off putting. Because the main character Everly is almost 18 when she meets Aiken, who’s 24. There is no hanky panky until after she’s 18 but it’s a little ick.

This was mostly Everyly’s story. Aiken seemed under developed, there was very little the reader knows about him. It’s like his sole purpose is to save/take care of Everly. The protective nature isn’t a problem, but he wasn’t layered well.

I did like the author’s writing style. So hopefully I’ll be reading the next book when it comes out.

Aiken aka Skull is 24 and Everly is 17 (soon to be 18). Ok... this book sucked me in a little. But a lot of what Aiken did and said... just killed it for me. And I felt Everly’s age played a lot into her overlooking it all because she was young and had nowhere to go.

This is what Aiken says to Everly. This is the first time they are meeting and talking to each other.

Nobody talks to me that way. Not even some high and mighty daddy’s girl with too much money and not enough tits.

I wouldn’t fuck you with a two-dollar dildo.

Because you’re fresh meat for the hunt with your loose Mom jeans and your shirt that’s two sizes too big. Look around you, Cherry Girl. You’re the only virgin in a five-mile radius who’s over seventeen. I can smell your innocence like a dead skunk on the side of a country road. You’re not from around here, and everybody fucking knows it.

Charming... who wouldn’t jump all over that. Just when things are going decent between them. This happens.

Aiken was lying back on the couch, his arms lying across the back of it. His head was relaxed back, and his jaw was tight while a blonde kneeled in front of him and sucked him off. Her head bobbed up and down, and when she sped up, he pushed her mouth down onto his penis until she was gagging."

And it’s never talked about. It happened and that’s that. Everly never brought it up. And once something did happen between them. Aiken said this to her!

I didn’t run from you. I saved you from yourself. If you go around giving your pussy to every guy who wants to fingerbang your cunt, you’ll be worn out by the time you’re twenty.

I mean... she’s young! Doesn’t know any better. Like run from men like him! Why would anyone want to continue to go for a guy like that!

I also hated how they referred to drugs as the White lady (Coke) or sleeping beauty (Roofies). Just call them by their names.

We didn’t fuck with Sleeping Beauty, better known as the date rape drug."

I had even found myself doing a line of our special white lady when Joker laid it out."

I’m all for age gaps in books. That never bothered me. But what did was how Aiken was with Everly. He was verbally abusive to her. And it showed her age even more because she kept going back because she didn’t know any better.
He treated her like trash after they did do something sexual with each other.

This book was a lot like the fast and Furious movies... but with bikes. Them racing and selling drugs. It just seemed a little dated. I still want to read the second book. To see if things changed a little. Like writing and how the story is told. Sometimes the second book is better than the first. But... I'm still scared I will be reading the same thing like in this book.

This was such a good story I wish I could give it more than five stars. Everly and her parents get a divorce and Everly stays with her Dad and her twin brother moved with his mom, but tragedy strikes and Everly loses her Dad and has to move back with her mom and twin brother. Everly has always been seen through but never seen no one ever chooses her they always pick someone different her twin brother picks her friends over her, and her mama picks her boyfriend over her. Poor Everly shes had a really hard life since her daddy's past away.
Aiken hates Everly from the get-go he can't stand the way she looks but there's something about her that he wants to protect, and soon attraction builds and a relationship blooms and omg I loved this book so much.

*First time reading author.

So the first thing I am going to say is, this book was an almost love, hate relationship for me. I had that feeling going in that it was going to be a complicated read for me, just because of some of the reviews I glanced over but I refused to let that deter me on reading it. So I jumped in because I love bully themes, complicated romance, and it sounded kind of like an mc book. So in I jumped.

The next thing I will say is I hate drug use in a book. There was some of that in there, and I didn't see a trigger warning at all, for any triggers. And there are some triggers in this book. Not just drugs, but attempted rape, and family issues.

On to the characters. Tabatha brings fully developed characters forward although at some points I wanted to smack the crap out of Everly. She is seventeen and has some emotional issues that at some points makes her seem younger. Her family is useless and at this point in her life are mostly nonexistent which is where Aiken and his crew come in.

Aiken is a complicated character but not devious. He is just trying to protect his boys and keep money floating. He is what life has made him. He doesn't do anything out of pure spite or anger. That is what makes him redeemable, likable, and in the end loveable.

So yes this book makes you hate certain parts of it, and love most of it. But that is what makes it a five star read! I am excited to see where the other characters take us.

(Note: This entire book I read from start to finish yesterday evening while high as fuck and thus that very well may have altered my judgment of it. I still know when a book is bad but it helped it be funny bad)

How could I even begin to describe the experience of reading this book?

Up until last night I hadn't used my "so bad its funny" shelf in two years and over the course of the 4 hours it took me to finish this book I was reminded of my need for it.

Because this was bad. But it was also HILARIOUS.

There might be some super minor spoilers ahead while I discuss the utter trainwreck that was this book but trust me nothing happens in this book to warrant hiding this review.

I won't focus on the writing for much longer than saying it was shit. This read like it was penned by a 16-year-old with not enough experience and way too many emotions.

Instead, let's get straight down to business.

1. Why on earth did they call drugs everything besides the names that drugs are called?

Examples included: "white girl", "sleeping beauty", "strange" and so many more. At one point they went to get Molly and for the entirety of the scene referred to the drug as if it were an actual female. Was this written by a woman whose only experience with drugs was that time she got high in college or are Americans actually like this? Someone tell me, I need to know.

Zany's gawd please end my suffering.

2. Shit like this: "Also, all girls want to play with my fire, but only a select few can handle my burn"

3. The fact that our main heroine was easily the dumbest most naive person to have ever existed and could not for the life of me JUST SAY PUT. Every single time shit would go down she would just insert herself straight into the middle of the situation and make shit abominably worse.

4. The side characters were absolutely horrific. They might as well have been cardboard cut out that the MCs carried with them because that would amount to the same amount of personality that our writer gave them.

Zada appeared out of nowhere whenever whatever her name was either needed a ride or to coincidentally bump into whatever his name was.

His little group of drug dealing motorcyclists? Might as well have been the same person, maybe if we add up all the little things she mentioned about them it would amount to about 50% of a normal character.

That being said I did not hate this, no, I laughed my ass off throughout this thing.

Let's start by saying this was a brand new author for us and if I am being honest we started out thinking maybe that this was not my kind of read but, boy was I so wrong.

The story was filled with messed up and broken characters and some of their lives were messier than others one reeling from pain and loss and anxiety all the while feeling lost and broken. Then you have the bad boy who straddles the line of no return but, deep down is a kind and caring soul with an overprotective nature.

This story was heartfelt and emotional and had main characters that we easy to love and we loved getting to know the rest of the characters as well as some deadly other teasers but, one thing for sure is they had each other's backs. We loved the boy's teasing of Aiken it lightened him up a bit as his temper was scary as hell.
.

We loved the romance that developed between Everly and Aiken how they were drawn to one another right from the moment they met and the push and pull between them. The emotional turmoil both seem to be going through was tense at times for Aiken he was struggling to do what he thought best and Everly just struggling to keep her head above water on an emotional level. The story could have turned in a different direction had Aiken not fallen for Everly and become so protective of her.

Overall we loved the story with its interesting characters. We loved that it was different from anything we had read before. We loved that two people found one another when they needed each other the most even if their journey was messy and bumpy it was theirs. We love Aiken and Everly's chemistry even when they weren't burning up the sheets the heat between them was always there. One of the best things about this story is that we saw so much personal growth for both Aiken and Everly they both came a long way from what they were in the very beginning but, one thing for sure is Aiken will always be the bad boy at heart that screams "Danger Beware ".

We are looking forward to reading more of this series.

Oh goodness gracious. This book was just not it. Let me just say, it starts off with this girl, Everly, telling her story and how she's going to this party and all that jazz, then it goes to Aiken's point of view who is also at the party and starts just being so nasty. Like can I help you? Then he fights her twin brother which is just wack, then he goes back and forth about how he can't get with her because she's 17 about to turn 18. I don't think it mentioned how old he was in the entire story. Now, don't get me wrong certain parts were good and all but oh my goodness, if the book is 70ish% along and you aren't officially together and there still manages to be a 3rd act breakup... What on earth. I really did not like the way that Aiken though about and talked about certain things and just the whole story rubbed me the wrong way. I don't know, I thought this was going to be a good new series for me to read but I think I'll just leave it at this one for now...

Shattered Skull is book one in the Son of Sinister series by Tabatha Vargo and boy is it a page turning read. The story focuses on Aiken ‘Skull’ Cross and Everly. Everly is just coming to terms with her father’s death when she has been moved across the country to live with her aloof mother and brother who seems to be up to no good. Being new to school, she knows that she doesn’t fit in, not only due to her grief but also her anxiety and how she feels in general. We see her story develop as she makes friends with one of the girls at school who is also in with the Son’s of Sinister MC club; a club which doesn’t follow the rules, races bikes, fights and does other debaucherous things whilst trying to evade the police. One night when she is out watching the racing, she catches the eye of no other that Aiken ‘Skull’, a serious bad boy if there ever was one. Even though Everly doesn’t belong in his world, she keeps showing up and putting up with his acerbic tongue and ill-treatment. Aiken knows he can’t have her, but he just can’t stay away.

Aiken is one of those main characters that you love to hate as he is just so cruel to Everly and makes these huge assumptions about her throughout the story until he learns some home truths. I really liked that he wasn’t perfect and that he made these huge mistakes throughout the book which made him and his gang a more believable as characters.

This story has so many twists and turns. Not only do we have Everly and Aiken’s developing relationship, but we also have Everly’s mother and brother who just seem to cause devastation throughout the whole book. Everly’s mother…. OMG! if there was an instant dislike for a person, she would be it. Then you have the other side story’s such as Everly’s fathers death, the MC gang popping in and out of her story plus their own side story and what is going on with their MC, Aiken’s backstory as well as a whole heap of other things going on that by the end of the book you’re emotionally exhausted but in a good way.

This is certainly a slow burn to melting book, where yes, Everly might come across as naive, but she certainly wasn’t stupid and after everything she has endured, she was still a nice human being. Even the way Aiken goes out of his way to protect her borders on obsession but is really sweet at the same time. This is certainly a fast paced read and quite difference from another MC book where the MC doesn’t have a specific club but more a house where they stay in.

This definitely was an intriguing read and if it seems like you’ve waited forever for this book to come out…trust me it was worth it!

Man biker gangs just always do it for me. I think it's just the sense of camaraderie and freedom from society. It's always an interesting read.

Aiken and Everly had a STEAMY connection but it was also really sweet which isn't always the case with biker boys. But Aiken was a SWEETHEART under the initial asshole-ness😂

But this was such a quick yet wonderful read!

Sons of Sinister

Aiken/Skull was a bad boy dealing with life outside of the law and Everly was a young woman who dealt with anxiety issues whose life had changed dramatically in such a short time.

Skull was “The Man” on the strip racing his neon green bike against any takers trying to put money aside so that someday he could open his own bike repair shop and go legit. Until that time came though he was a member of the Sons of Sinister who ran drugs and were not afraid to use their guns.

Everly’s life changed when her parents divorced and she went to live with her father while her twin lived with their mother. Her father loved and understood Everly so when he suddenly died Everly was forced to live with a mother who had also changed dramatically and moved her family to Atlanta. Now mom was shacking with a guy only a few years older than Everly and he was a man not to be trusted…especially where Everly was concerned.

As much as Aiken tried to push Everly away since he felt she was a good girl and shouldn’t get wrapped up in his world they were always drawn to one another. This story is full of push and pulls, heartbreak and survival. Although Shattered Skull wasn’t from the “traditional MC” world, I definitely will be picking up the rest of the books in the Sons of Sinister series which are soon to come. This was a winner for me.

Have you read Tabatha's Blow Hole Boys series if you have you will love the guys and if not where have you been. This book focuses on Everly and Aiken 'Skull' Cross who are two characters who couldn't be more different.
I found the start of the book quite slow there is alot of time spent setting the scene and introducing the characters but I felt like some of them could have been explored more. I would have liked more with Everly and her brother, because we don't know him I didn't care that his life was falling apart but it had an impact on her life and I just wanted more. I liked the way her anxious personality and panic attacks were written they felt realistic and well researched. Aiken is exactly the kind of guy I like reading about complicated broody who can be an absolute pratt but also has a tender side for the right woman. Aiken is a little older than Everly but not too much that it feels like an older man younger woman vibe. Another thing I would have liked is for the Sons of Sinister guys to have more scenes together as a group.
This is not a typical MC story at all, it has it's share of danger and violence but I feel that it was much more people focused than other books. I am excited to see where the series goes in future books.

Why God why?

This author is a$$hjhb. I don’t usually take it that far, it it’s the truth. She deliberately made it seem like her character was one type until you are so far into the book, that I am assuming she thinks she has you hooked. I was reading this book and actually enjoying it. The H was on a little bit of a dry spell and seemed in no hurry to change that. He meets the heroine and they start a flirtation. We get 150 pages in, halfway through the freaking book, and he decides to try to get her out of his system by screwing another girl. So just to give you a recap of the entirety of events... This poor girls dad recently died. She has to move across the country. Her twin brother starts using drugs and abandons her. Her mother is dating a 26 year old who has been creeping on her. When she tells her mother, she calls her a liar and kicks her out. She is sleeping on a friends floor, who lives a couple doors down from the hero. Since she has been to his house many times, and even slept there, she decides to stop by to say hi. She actually walks in on him getting a blowjob ON HER FREAKING BIRTHDAY!!! I’m just done with this book and will never trust this author again. You don’t pull that crap halfway through a book when all signs are pointing to that particular point being safe. I dint know how you’d even come back for that. Her heart was basically broken, everyone else has abandoned her. I read on just to see how she handles it, and she goes to a party at his house because she has no choice (that is where the girl whose floor she is sleeping on is at). The girl guilt trips her to take a few shots, she gets a little drunk. A guy kisses her. Douchbag H flips out, because how dare she kiss another guy (the same day he is screwing someone else). Just complete bs. I actually liked this H up until this point. But with one scene this author ruined the entire book and any chance of me trusting this author again. For what purpose? She is literally sleeping in his bed the same night. She will forgive him and we have yet another cheating faithless loser to add to the pile. And let’s be honest, their entire relationship would be tainted. Hell she’d get a reminder every year. Because how do you remember/ celebrate your birthday without getting a flashback to the guy you love, live and in color with another woman. What a piece of crap and such a waste.

So I started reading Tabatha years ago when Playing Patience came out and have stuck around since. This book y'all did not disappoint it kept me on my toes the whole time. The chemistry between Aiken and Everly is on point and you know it from there first encounter. I really wasnt sure if Ev was gonna be able to keep up with him or if her anxiety would rule her life. I gotta say she went toe to toe with him for most part and definitely earned her place as his queen on the back of his bike. Can't wait to see what happens next in this series!!!

This is a new author to me and I can’t leave I’ve waited so long to read her! Her characters are well developed and the storyline is intriguing, so much so that I couldn’t put it down I just had to know what happened next! This story is greedy and dark and oddly satisfying. The chemistry between Aiken and Everly was on fire. I love how protective Aiken is over Everly. She is just so sweet and naïve she needs to be protected. I can’t wait for more of the Sons. Brilliant start to the series!!

Fabulous start to what is sure to be a great new series. The chemistry between Skull and Everly was very intense, it was almost radiating from the pages. I got so lost in the story that it was almost like I was right there with them. And it had plenty of twists so there was never a dull moment.

The first half definitely had potential. A nice slow build with your bad boy H and down on her luck virgin h. The second half fell apart as things just moved along too quickly and everything thrown together. The story lost it’s appeal , no angst and the bad boy image was totally out the window by the end of the book.
