Scrooge You! (Christmas Falls Book 9) Kindle Edition

4.5 4.5 out of 5 stars 708 ratings

Joel McArthur thought he knew everyone in the small town of Christmas Falls. He’s been running Ginger’s Breads bakery for more than a decade, after all.

But who is the mysterious runner who’s been passing by his shop every morning?

Hayden Bradley’s post-college plans fell through, landing him in this stupid small town he can’t get out of fast enough.

He hates Christmas and he’s tired of the endless holiday cheer.

But as Hayden finds himself spending more and more time at Joel’s bakery, he’s forced to admit that he’s developed a taste for the ginger-molasses cookies and the handsome ginger-haired baker who makes them.

Christmas Falls is a multi-author M/M romance series set in a small town that thrives on enough holiday charm to rival any Hallmark movie.

Content Warning: Discussion of a past death of a parent/missing them at the holidays.

A great ending to the series
I can not believe that this is the last book in the multi author mm Christmas Falls series 😢 Scrooge You did not disappoint, and I loved the dynamic between Hayden and Joel. Hayden was definitely a Scrooge who was closed off due to past events. It was great to watch Hayden heal over the pages, but it wasn't just him. Joel also had to learn and grow so they could eventually have their HEA.Things I loved🧁Dual POV💻Christmas🧁Age Gap💻Grumpy x Sunshine🧁HEA

I am so sad and so happy at the same time. Sad that this amazing series is over, yet happy because I absolutely loved this book! Joel is Christmas Falls favorite baker. He loves his community and is always willing to help out when needed. He is a bit of a workaholic but when he continuously sees a jogger run by every morning, he begins to think of how nice it would be to have someone to go home to. Enter one of Christmas Falls newest residents Hayden. He's a bit of a scrooge after being forced to move in with his mom and stepdad after a job fell through after graduating college. Plus he hates Christmas for some very heartbreaking reasons and can't wait to find another job and leave this happy town for good. I loved how Joel and Hayden met and that Joel slowly broke through Hayden's icy exterior. I really enjoyed their story and how their relationship progressed throughout the story. I also loved seeing all of the other Christmas Falls characters sprinkled throughout and the little insight of each couple in the epilogue. And finally the mystery of the graffiti artist is solved. This was a fantastic story and one that I will definitely reread.

I love this final book in the Christmas Falls series. I think Joel and Hayden have a great meet cute. It was also interesting to see Hayden's thought process as he really begins to examine what his dreams and goals really are. And to see Joel making sure he has a plan was very sweet. I also love solving the mural mystery that has been running throughout the series.

This is book 9 in the series and though it can easily stand on its own, it is also really nice that it brought everything together and that was great. I read book one because I got a notice that an author I follow had a new book. I read the other 8 books because it made sense to do so. It was a very enjoyable read. Joel and Hayden made a great story. One a baker and the other a young man with a beautiful personality who had become hard, due to negative events in his life. When he opened up that beauty showed forth. I would actually like to see a sequel to this story, so I hope that happens.

Joel and Hayden what a match! The last book of the Christmas Falls Series. Joel the baker of Ginger’s Bread meets a young man who falls from slipping on the ice in the road. Hayden is a twenty three year old who had to move back with his mom and his stepdad after the company he got a job with went belly up even before his first day of work. Now blaming himself for not looking into other jobs and not being able to support himself Hayden has become somewhat of a scrooge. For both Hayden and Joel life starts to turn more hopeful and happier. Nothing beets having the person, you come to like, in your arms. Find out what happens with these two. Definitely 5 stars. ⭐️.

This is the final book in the series and it makes for a nice wrap up. It has similar themes to the earlier books, some of the characters from previous books make appearances, several scenes we’ve read in earlier books are repeated here but from a different POV, and we get a final peek at each of the couples from the series at the end of the book.

This book has age gap and grumpy/sunshine tropes as Joel, the bakery owner, and Hayden, a reluctant new resident of Christmas Falls meet and begin a relationship. Once again, as we are dealing with compressed time frames, it’s a rushed, insta love scenario but it’s to be expected with the format of the series. I liked both MCs and it was sweet the way that Hayden’s mom helped him look at things from a different perspective through the lens of their shared loss. Both Joel and Hayden realizes there were life changes they could make in order to be happier and have a better balance in their lives.

This series has been a lovely way to welcome in the holidays. I’m grateful to the authors who collaborated to make it happen.

This was a lovely conclusion to the Christmas Falls series. I laughed that Hayden was an early morning runner. I run every morning between 5-6am, however I won’t run on ice anymore like he does after breaking my ankle in four places last winter lol! Joel and Hayden were such an awesome couple. I loved how they communicated and compromised together to make their relationship work. I was happy to see the mystery of the graffiti artist solved as well. The following was my favorite quote from the book:

He’d tried to keep an open mind like his mom suggested. Imagined what his life would be like if he chose the job here. But it felt wrong. Like an old jacket that was a little too small.

Technically, it fit. But it wasn’t comfortable anymore.

Tge first meeting come’s twice, but the first meeting after is missing. It’s discussed between Hayden and his mother, but we don’t get to read about it.

A fall on a patch of icy road may give baker Joel a chance to meet Hayden, an early morning jogger. Will Joel’s pumpkin cinnamon roll, coffee and caring nature encourage Hayden to return to him or, at least, his bakery in Christmas Falls? Enjoy this intriguing tale of how Joel and Hayden navigate thorny questions, increasing passion, work limits and, hopefully, falling in love!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars An enchanting riveting series of books

Every one of the books was full of Christmas spirit, sexy times and sweet romantic HEA. I couldn't read them fast enough and of course sad they are finished. All authors accomplished in their own right, giving their own specialised slant to the town of Christmas Falls. A must read.

- age gap
- grumpy/sunshine
- reluctant new Christmas Falls resident
- a ginger haired baker

Oh I am so sad to see the Christmas Falls series coming to an end. It was always a joy to read a new book from it. I'm sure I already said that but it often felt like 'coming home' for me.
I feel like I know a lot of the residents and they all have a little piece of my heart.

This was a wonderful story to end the series. We met some known characters from earlier books and even got finally the resolution to the 'Christmas graffiti mystery'.

This story too was done in a shortish time-frame and therefore everything goes relatively fast but somehow it didn't feel too rushed to me.
Both MCs were well fleshed out and likeable. Yes, even grumpy Hayden. It gets explained well why he is this way and I think it's absolutely understandable. I was sad for what he'd already gone trough and really felt for him.
But fear not Joel will help him overcome his grumpiness and show him how to enjoy Christmas again.

I really loved Joel and his positive attitude and sunshine personality. Aside from that he's a redhead – my kryptonite – and just an overall good person. And let's not forget that he makes the most delicious sounding baked goods. Omg I felt so hungry while reading this book. I really wished I could've gone to Ginger Breads and tasted them myself.

Great secondary characters as well, especially Hayden's stepdad. It was good to see those two bonding a bit and getting along.
I really liked that Hayden's stepdad and his mother were willing to lend him a helping hand and not pressuring him to do anything. Instead they were there for him, helping him see that plans and dreams can change and were simply supporting in everything.

In the end I really fell Joel and Hayden as a couple. The way they were with each other was just so heartwarming. I especially liked that in the end when circumstances were pulling them apart both were willing to go the extra mile to not lose what had started to mean so much to them. Each other.

Btw I really really loved those cozy, hygge moments.

Definitely a fantastic ending to the series and I have to recommend it whole-heartedly.

I whipped through the first 8 books like crazy only to have to wait for this, the ninth - it hadn’t been released yet. So some serious Kindle research and voila more holiday themed MM romance - most quite well done. And finally, the release and I downloaded this one with excitement. Which was short lived. I take zero pleasure in saying this - truthfully I would have put it down after the first few chapters. The writing seemed wobbly, the characters scattered and the dialogue, well… when I read the statement, “I want to c**e in your mouth” in the middle of what would otherwise be a relatively normal conversation I was done. I mean who says that? Unless it’s in the heat of the moment. It felt random and well… sleazy. But alas I hung in there because well this was the NINTH and final book. It picked up, the writing became a bit more sound and we have our HEA (and know who did the graffiti - which was a major anti-climax). Still dear author, you wrote a book, a good book if not great (IMHO) and I couldn’t do that so I admire and applaud you. That said, I fully endorse reading this one if you’ve gotten through the other eight.
