Publisher's summary

It started with a single look...my obsession, my desire, and need to possess the sweet, and incredibly naive, Elena Romero. Dark raven hair and piercing green eyes. She would make a beautiful bride.

Ten million dollars and a forced signature later and she was mine. Like a thief I came in the dead of night and stole her away from her protected castle and placed her in a gilded cage made of gold.

The deal had been made. She would become my wife. She would bear my children. She would bend to my will. But most importantly, she would help me destroy the man she loved most. The man who took everything from me: her father.

Not bad but not awesome

The premise of the story was great; the execution not so much. The story dragged in parts and the the true action wasn’t very long or exciting. Not to mention that Elana was just annoying and stupid. Her constant defending of her father and seeing him as innocent and her constant demonization of Julian and always believing the worst in him became quite tedious. The narration was ok but not spectacular.

Good Book, but...

The female narration was very robotic and took away from the quality of the story.

Good story, bad narration

I genuinely enjoyed the story, but almost cnf because the female narration was so hard to deal with. she sounded like a robot, or a series of words spliced together to form a sentence.

Savage Beginnings - Elena and Julian

Elena's father sold her to Julian for $10 million and she became his obsession. Clearly Elena was very young and naive and she could be very annoying at times. She did not grow a backbone until near the end of the book. There is more than one betrayer in this story. I am looking forward to the next book. The book held my attention to find out what Julian and her father would do next. Alastair Haynesbridge and Samantha Summers did a great job with the narration.

Good Story

The story was interesting enough... the girl was indeed young acting. The female narrator sounded like a robot at times it was very distracting, reason for the four stars.

Good story

It was a good story for the dark mafia kidnapped genre. Loved the male narrator but the female spoke stilted pausing where pausing shouldn’t be. It was annoying in the beginning but didn’t take away from the story. I listen to probably 300-350 books a year and am not the most picky on narrators so when I mention one, it’s worth mentioning..

The story: I was frustrated a lot by the responses that the female character had. Maybe because I’m a stronger personality, but like others have said she was weak and compliant. I just can’t imagine myself responding so compliant in the same situation. I wanted her to fight back and be more conniving. Maybe not in the very beginning because of shock but to just accept her “fate”... I know some said she was naive believing her father to the the end but form her perspective, I didn’t have a problem with that.

Slow and predictable

Good narration, and good story idea, but I had a hard time falling in love with how it played out.
