WiFi is plenty strong, and ethernet is possible with a USB-to-ethernet adapter.
Some features aren’t available due to regional restrictions and it’s not Xiaomi’s fault.
With the built in USB port, it’s well worth the price compared to Chrome Stick 4k, and much cheaper than getting a Nvidia Shield if you’re only going to use it for viewing entertainment.
The only gripe we have with it is that it's missing Hulu and Prime Video apps. We couldn't believe it when we saw; I assumed it would have the full Play-Store and we would just download all of the apps we want like normal. This wasn't the case, apparently Hulu has had performance issues on the platform in the past and they decided to pull it off of the market until it's fixed. It's been off the market for months now from what I've read, and I don't expect Hulu to jump on it anytime soon. Amazon and Google of course have a strenuous relationship and as such Android TV's don't have Prime Video available on it, and least not currently.
For Hulu, I was able to download a legacy .apk of the app, and install it manually. It worked! I tried the same method for Prime Video, but it wouldn't let me log-in properly. I can personally live without Prime Video and Hulu, but my fiance would become monstrous if she didn't have access to Hulu. These are the biggest complaints I have with this box, and it really isn't the boxes fault so I place blame on Google, Amazon, and Disney (Disney owns Hulu). It's funny because although Hulu isn't available and arguably neglected by Disney on Android OS, Disney+ works perfectly fine.
Regardless, the box performs like a beast and I have been loving it for Netflix, Hulu, Plex, Kodi, Sling TV, Pluto TV, etc, etc, etc and haven't had issues. Overall it's a great bang for your buck, but if you can't live without Prime Video or don't have the know-how to manually install Hulu, then you may want to look elsewhere for now.

Except now I require Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos and something that can also decide DTS audio since I run a home media server through Jellyfin, and DTS audio is about half of my collection. DTS:X for all the Harry Potter, Fast and Furious and Jurassic Park films. So I saw the Xiamoi MiBox S Gen 2 here, that says it provides Dolby Vision, Atmos and DTS-HD (which is the codec DTS:X is tied to). The smart functions on my 2020 70 inch TV are getting wonky and I wanted to breath new life into an aging smart TV.
The Good: First, this thing is snappy. It's super responsive and takes no time at all loading any app. The menu looks great, and I've also havn't had a problem watching most content. It seems to decode Dolby Vision just fine except for HBO Max for some reason. And that's where some trouble starts.
The Bad: For most users, this may not be a problem since most users won't care about fancy things like Atmos, DTS, and IMAX enhanced audio. Most people don't have a 5.1 or 7.1 or spatial sound set up. They won't have a soundbar or home theater receiver. For those of us that do like cinematic audio, and want Dolby Atmos and DTS audio...this isn't the streaming box for you. For Atmos on Netflix it's great. For Atmos and DTS-HD and X on my home media server, it's very good... it's not true DTS:X, it's just outputting regular DTS-HD 5.1, but it sounds great still. But every other single app, from Max to Disney+, to Peacock and Paramount, it cannot. No Atmos comes out at all. After researching, it seems if it's Atmos coming through a Dolby Digital+ source, it will easily decode it, but if it's lossless Atmos from TrueHD, it won't. Most people on Reddit seem to be under the impression that all streaming services are decoding their Atmos through a Dolby Digital Plus codec, but I'm thinking that's a no. Netflix uses it, but I'm pretty sure Max and Peacock are using something different since the MiBox can't recognize their Atmos signal. And Disney? Doesn't even show me that Atmos is even there. On Jellyfin, the issues get more interesting. On Atmos I passed-through a EAC-3 or EC3 (Dolby Digital/+) codec when ripping movies, it was able to read them just fine, but films that I didn't compress, such as The Lord of the Rings, it could not even play the title when TrueHD Atmos was selected as my sound source. I had to default to Dolby 5.1 and then the title started to play.
This frustrates me a lot since I want to be able to hear all the over head sounds I have invested into hearing. But it doesn't. It just doesn't. I know I probably should've got the Nvidia Shield Pro, but this was 67 bucks compared to the 199 that the Shield costs. Now I know why. I'll most likely be returning this and paying extra for the Shield so that way I'll be able to have all the features work on any app.
But don't let that deter you, dear reader. If you don't care about crap like Spatial Audio, or any of my little gripes, this still might be for you. It's fast, responsive and the HDR looks great. And if that's all you need then this one is good. But IF that's all you need, remember that a Fire Stick Max, or almost any Roku (except Ultra) will be cheaper and do the exact same things, functionally.
