As you read this, keep in mind that once set up with the phone app, the rangefinder can be used in a standalone mode, i.e. the phone app is not needed to get range and holdover. All the gun and environmental data are stored in the rangefinder and the ABS app is built into the rangefinder so once a profile(s) is set and sync'd from the app to the rangefinder, the rangefinder is standalone with some caveats I'll cover next.
There are several things to be aware of, not necessarily problems, one is you do have to set it up using your phone (Android or iPhone). You cannot change rifle, etc. settings from the rangefinder itself. You can select what units to display the range in, yards or meters, and basic operational parameters. You cannot set the wind speed, scope height, muzzle velocity, BC, etc. with the range finder. You have to use the phone app to do that.
You can select 1 of 4 gun profiles to be active. The profile can be selected from the unit, but each profile has to be set up with the app. The profiles have names of Prof 1 - 4 and they do not tell you what the gun used in that profile is, again, you have to use the phone app to see that. So, you have to know what gun and data is in which app, or look it up in the phone app.
All environmental sensors are inside the rangefinder. That bothers me a bit because if the electronics generate any heat, the temperature sensor will be affected. However, it probably wouldn't be enough of an effect to cause a hold over error. Also, I don't know how it measures humidity, it seems to be an enclosed unit so I'm not sure how it's sensing humidity, but it seems to be pretty accurate compared to my Kestrel 5700 Elite with exposed sensors.
Be aware, you cannot see the temperature, or any other environmental values in the range finder, again you can with the phone app.
One thing that is a bit of a problem is confirming the range/holdover. Let's say you range a difficult target and something comes up and you don't set the scope. Then you realize you don't remember the holdover so you need to read it again. IF the unit is still cycling through range and holdover, you just look in the rangefinder and get them. IF it's timed out or cycled out, you have to re-range, and for a difficult target, that could be problematic.
Lastly, it would be nice if the Kilo 2400 ABS would link to a Kestrel weather meter to get wind speed from the Kestrel and set the windage hold accordingly, but it doesn't; the Kilo 2400 BDX will but the ABS version won't. And this could be a problem. You're pretty much on your own as far as dealing with wind. You can set wind speed and direction with the app, but then it has to be sync'd to the rangefinder. If the wind changes you have to do it all over again.
The rangefinder does come with an anemometer (wind speed instrument) that plugs into the audio jack of a phone IF your phone has audio jack. Even if it does, now you have to have your phone app running, hold the phone in the wind to get the wind speed and direction. I don't know how well that works.
All that said, if you can range it, the Kilo2400 ABS will calculate and display range and holdover, and angle of incline. You just range, read the holdover, set the scope and that's it. I don't have a BDX scope and I'm not sure if it links to a BDX scope so you would want to confirm that if you're considering the Kilo 2400 ABS. The Kilo2400 BDX would probably be the better choice (less expensive) for use with a BDX scope.
The Sig Kilo2400ABS application you download into your cellphone connects with this device by BlueTooth to calculate the environmental values and the calculations you enter about your rifle(s), your bullet(s) and some scope details. I will list the needed data and define how to measure it ... for newcomers.
If you are a seasoned shooter, you will likely not be reading my notes as you probably use the old school calculation methods.
Practice, use the device and have fun with precision plinking from far away.

First one had a malfunction in Bluetooth but was able to return. Second one was perfect.
