Publisher's summary

One old farmhouse brought them together. It could also tear them apart.

Gigi has just uprooted her whole world to start a new life. The unexpected gift of a farmhouse in small-town Montana is just what she and her daughter need to escape big-city loneliness. The last thing she needs is attitude from the town's sheriff, the most perfectly attractive and ruggedly handsome man she's ever laid eyes on - and a complete jerk.

Jess knows all about women like Gigi. Beautiful. Sexy. Scheming. She's stolen his sanctuary, the farmhouse that should have been his. But along with a face full of freckles, she's got a sharp wit and a backbone of steel - something he doesn't discover until after making a complete fool of himself. If he can earn back her trust and win her heart, he might just find the home he's always needed.

This is a hard book for me to rate since I really didn't like the beginning but loved the middle and ending. In the very beginning I loved Gigi, She was confident and strong and then Jess comes in and takes over her life... seriously takes it over. I really didn't get why she just let him plow right over her and everything she said. I like a good bad guy and an alpha guy just as much as the next guy but in the beginning he was just an a$$hole... and she just acted like he was so pretty it was ok that he acted like that. Once they were together things started to get more normal and he was much more like an alpha good guy than a jerk. By the end of the book I loved Jess and his relationship with Gigi's daughter so much! This book is full of mystery and honestly I knew who the bad guy was right away but I still liked the way the story went. I'm really hoping for a book on Felicity, Jess's sister, she has a story and I want it now.

The narration was good. It was about 80% Ava & 20% Joe and they both did a great job.

Disappointed with language

The overall story was okay, just an enjoyable read. I was very disappointed that the author chose to use the "F" word frequently in casual conversation and in describing sexual relationships. It caught me off-guard. I could only listen to the book when I was alone in my car and that's a bit of inconvenience. I wish I had been warned about this aspect of the book; I doubt I would have purchased it.

Very sweet story. Great narration

This is my first story from this author and am happy I gave it a shot. I felt the writing was very sweet, straight forward and evocative. I very much enjoyed how the growth between the characters occured and how the relationship and chemistry took place. The narration was spectacular as always. Eva Erickson conveyed so much emotion, an even though the chapters Joe Arden narrated were minimal, they were still great to listen to. Looking forward to the rest of the story.

Equal suspense as romance

I really enjoyed reading The Coppersmith Farmhouse. I was impressed and very pleased with the quality of this debut novel. The way Perry writes the pace of the story while building the setting and introducing a number of secondary characters is incredible. I was sucked in right from the start and could not wait to find out whether there's an HEA but also how the mystery is solved. Perry has quickly become an author I'd like to read more of, and I can't wait to pick up the next book in the Jamison Valley series.

awesome book

Wow! This was the first book I've read or listened to by this author and it was so perfect! I absolutely loved the way the characters meshed and intertwined so well. I can't wait to dig into the next book in this series!

Jess (Brick) Was Too Much!! Audio Was Well Done

I am very glad I didn't begin my Jamison Valley journey with this book. I doubt I would have read anything else in the series.

I have read a number of Alpha MC books. Strong personalities who may even end up making some of the decisions in the relationship, but they will at least listen or have a conversation with the female MC. It seems like they cherish their significant other and put her on a bit of a pedestal. There is a mutual sense of respect and admiration as well as admiration for her strengths and a solid foundation for her vulnerabilities.

I got NONE of that from Jess (Brick) for the majority of this book, and very little toward the end. He forced himself into her life. Told her what she was going to do. Told her they were dating. Told her when she was going to introduce him to HER daughter. Told her every single thing that HE wanted, including what HE was going to have built on HER property. And Gigi went along with it.

I kept thinking she has taken care of her mother, Ben, and Rowan. She has made decisions for all of these people by herself. I wanted to try and make it be that someone finally had her back. She didn't have to carry everything by herself. That wasn't it at all. I was truly appalled by Jess' behavior and even more so by the fact that Gigi would initially get mad, disagree, yet go along with Jess' program. Then he would blatantly use Rowan to convince her to comply when Gigi didn't want to do something.

Gigi had some serious issues with insecurity. I thought maybe that was why she gave into Brick's controlling nature. Jess was insensitive, childish, arrogant, and controlling. His sister Felicity wasn't much better.

He did lighten up some later in the book, but by that time my impression of him was pretty set.

There was more of a story to this book. There was a backstory about drug dealing, Ben's relationship with Jess, Jess' mother and her issues, and a few other things. There was some danger and suspense involved as well.

The secondary characters and back story were decent. The narration was good. I am going back and for between a 3 or 4 star rating.

Take heart, Jess does appear in the books following this one, and he doesn't come across as an alpha idiot in those.

Sweet & Steamy

I enjoyed this story a lot. Ben shared an old farmhouse with his wife but when she passed, he couldn’t see himself in it without her. He becomes friends with his nurse from the hospital, Georgia. Her and her little girl, Rowen, become family to him. When he passes, his wishes are for her and Rowen to move to the farmhouse and live. Little did Georgia know where her life would go by taking this leap. Looking forward to continuing the Jamison Valley series.

Enjoyable story

I really enjoyed the story , the Ava narrator was great, love Joe as a narrator but he did seemed to fit the character like I imagined, but then it was mostly Ava doing the story
The story itself was fun, Jess was kinda over bearing in the beginning but not so that It bothered me...love he twist and figuring things out, not to hard ... just a good story

Just okay

Gotta fuss about the heroine in this story. Too whiny, needy with low self-esteem. I never like the "I'm not good enough" tact. Secondly, while the story line was good, it was predictable.

BUT.....great narrators. Just didn't have enough Joe!!
