Customers are mixed about the audio quality of the voice recorder. Some mention that it provides excellent sound and flexibility to have up to 4 in-person speakers or microphones, with very low noise at the levels they operate at. They also love the sound pads for the music and effects, and find them fun. However, others say that the noise floor is noticeable, the issues with crashing and weird audio issues at first, and that the white noise issue cuts out the audio.

The portability is unmatched - it's lightweight and operates on batteries when needed, making on-the-go recording a breeze. I was particularly drawn to its multiple mic inputs, each with a dedicated headphone output, which is a lifesaver for multi-person podcasts. The sound quality? Pristine. It genuinely surprised me how professional the recordings sound, considering the P4's compact size and price point.
The pre-programmed sound pads for intro music, applause, and other effects add a fun, creative element to recording sessions. Plus, the easy interface meant I spent less time leafing through the manual and more time recording.
For anyone looking to start or improve their podcasting setup without breaking the bank or getting bogged down in technicalities, the Zoom PodTrak P4 is a no-brainer. It’s versatility in a compact package - podcasting made simple, efficient, and fun!
Pros:
The audio quality is crystal clear.
There is plenty of clean gain available.
Each of the 4 mic inputs has +48 phantom power & mute option independently from one another (options that many interfaces and mixers do not have).
Though I have not taken the P4 anywhere, it's very lightweight and portable.
It has options to use either batteries or 5V usb to power it. And when using batteries, it does power up for quite a while. Much longer than any recording session I've ever done.
This option gives the ability to have battery backup for recordings.
I like the ability to connect phone and computer to it and send and receive audio from both devices.
The P4 is a great option to use as a phone audio interface. I've used it quite a bit just to record high quality audio to my phone. And it's great to use for clean audio on phone calls as well.
The mix- function works flawlessly. Making it super easy to use the P4 for call in conversations without feedback echo to the caller.
It will record hours and hours of audio with even a small 8gb micro SD card installed.
The P4 allows for dual (or triple) recording simultaneously.
Recording on an installed SD card and a computer and/or phone (or any other USB or trs/trrs device).
This makes this interface very versatile.
It's super easy to record or load pre-recorded sound to the sound pad.
The sound pad has a volume control, just like the 4 mic gains and 4 headsets.
Cons:
16-bit/44.1 khz max recording/transmission resolution.
Most USB interfaces & mixers have a minimum of 16-bit/48 khz resolution.
I will say that in practice I cannot distinguish the difference in sound between the 2, however.
Because of ultra compact size of this unit, there is no XLR or line output. Though you can use one of the headphone outputs if necessary, the sound quality will suffer a bit, as noise (hiss) will be introduced. The higher the volume, the more the noise.
The P4's all plastic exterior doesn't instill confidence that it will withstand accidental abuse.
I love the soundpad in this device. I had downloaded some sounds to use for this, but some of the sounds that it comes with were better than what I could find elsewhere. Plus the Podtrak let’s you edit how the sounds are played so I could tweak each one separately to play the way I wanted it to.
Going back to versatility, I like that the Podtrak gives me the option to power it through usb wire or batteries. It’s incredibly mobile. The SD card storage means that I no longer have to record straight to my laptop. I can get all the audio and transfer it over later. But also I was able to have it feed right into my Adobe audition if I did feel like recording to the laptop.
And the biggest reason I bought this Podtrak is because it records all the mics and sound pads on a different recording. Sure I love the quality of all the sound coming in together. But it gives me peace of mind that I can go to each track separately and tweak anyone’s recording independently if I need to.
This is my baby now and I love my baby. Continually impressed by this device. It’s taking my podcast to the next level. Only negative I would add is get an extra USB-C cable for power so you don’t have to stress about battery levels.

Audio is good expect is someone gets over excited the playback sounds terrible. Limiter does not seem to help sudden loud noises.
Setup is easy, I record a Podcast in a Bar and only takes 5 minutes to set everything up (Inc mics).
Editing however is a fail.
Wavelab Cast Download software does not download, I use the link but the code provided does not work! Disappointing.
Luckily I have other software such as Mixpad and it was fairly easy to transfer files over to that for editing

É feito de bom material e parece ser resistente. Testei e o som é limpo, claro. Os efeitos no pad são legais pra dar vida nas lives e os volumes independentes dão a liberdade que cada um precisa para se sentir mais a vontade durante o uso.
