I also like the quick release mount that is included I have found that to be very helpful in my use.
So many reviews already on how good is this tripod so I’ll just do one thing and write about what I found
To be a flaw.
The tripod when mounting a heavy camera like the Nikon D850 and a telephoto lens 200-500 (5 ½ lb) + camera it has the tendency to lean forwards just a fraction after tightening the central column, why! Because the neck is just ½ inch and that don’t support the weight. You’ll have to tight hard and use maybe waights to try and keeping it from tilting.
I own a different brand that I use and it has a 1 and ½ inch neck, I bought K&F after seeing a video by a pro photographer, and I just kept this one because of the high.
I uploaded 3 pictures to point out my review.

Like others, I was very impressed initially with the design and aesthetics. Seemed to be built pretty solid as well on first glance. Then I extended the legs, all good there. But when I attempted to retract them back, 1 of them was stuck.
I gave some very firm pressure in effort of getting it to retract but it was if it had been welded in an extended position. I attempted to return the item for a replacement and based on my description of the issue was instead suggested to contact the seller. Amazon apparently washed their hands of the issue and diverted me; unlike how they've handled similar issues for US based products.
Nonetheless, I had no issue with that until I realized that it would be corresponding via emails when I clicked the link for support which I obviously don't have time nor want to go back and forth with after having paid a decent amount of money purchasing the item (totally unacceptable); especially considering it could take literally take weeks to get a resolution having to deal outside of Amazon to get matters resolved. And who wants to make an international call to China in an entirely different time zone. Sorry, just wasn't worth the additional time and effort for something that should have been built with better quality for the money.
I sent the item back and opted a refund of my money. Ashame, I really liked the looks of it and wanted it to work but really not worth the time and aggravation. When I purchase an item, I want it to work upon receiving it. Not have to consult with support, deal with troubleshooting and explaining an issue with a brand new purchase. Oh, and btw. Because the leg was stuck in an extended position I had to pay additional money to purchase a box for the return as well.
Buy at your own discretion and know that should you have issues with it where support is required; be prepared to either go back and forth with emails to support OR plan a late night session calling China and take your chances.
Looks great, but obviously lacks quality control.
Being this tall I was concerned it would be very big and uncomfortable to carry around, but to my surprise it folds neatly and was easier to carry around than our previous tripod.
The 90 degree angle allowed us to use it for overhead shots - extending the arm for as further as possible does require a counter weight to make sure the tripod and the camera don't tip over.
The arca swis mount made it very easy to mount and dismount with our peak design camera clip.
Top reviews from other countries
Some things I noticed that you have to be aware off :
- The central locking mechanism does not allow for tilted angles. Just 0 - 90 degrees.
- The legs are very wide when extended to the max height. (not very practical in some situations).
I returned the tripod because the locking mechanisms on the legs were not good and one was already broken on arrival.
Thanks to the power(!) of data capture, at some point in the past I must have searched for a tall tripod as recently I started seeing 'ultra high tripod' ads from Amazon on Facebook (funny how that happens isn't it?). They were all for this K&F model, so I checked out some YouTube reviews all of which were very favourable.
Notwithstanding that these reviewers seem to have received the product from K&F in return for a review - and included one that completely failed to notice one of the tripods most distinctive features (the tilting centre column) and another that criticised it for have a 'non standard' quick release plate (it's actually an Arca Swiss type, the nearest there is to an industry standard for these things) - I added it to my basket, accompanied by a 5% off voucher (funny how that happens too...).
Surprisingly compact when folded in the included carry case, fully extended the tripod reaches almost 2.5 metres high and the two stage centre column can be tilted up to 45 degrees. The column can also be reversed and the legs set to different lengths and angles to accommodate the most challenging photographic locations, and making it ideal for video and macro work too. Further versatility comes with the ability to detach one leg to use as a monopod in combination with the centre column.
A quick test on delivery seemed to confirm that this was just the tripod that I needed and I put it to work the very same day. Others who saw it were impressed too - until it came time to fold it up when I discovered that one of the leg sections had become firmly stuck in the extended position. I did eventually manage to get it to retract only to find that it would not come out again. Fortunately being fulfilled by Amazon a return was easily sorted, and after a little consideration I have ordered another one.
This is a very well designed and versatile tripod and I really do hope that the replacement proves to be more durable - if so I will certainly update this to a 5* review.
UPDATE - 2 years later the replacement is still working well, so updated to 5* as mentioned above.
Well it is very simple!!
I really need it. I dont just buy stuff I like and I think I need, no!!! Never.
I have tons of camera gear but I buy only and only when it makes sense.
So why another tripod?
Did you guys see the pictures?
Ohhh yess, I was waiting for so long to get a TALL high tripod. For 2-3 things.
Let me explain.
1. I take pictures of real estate properties and this is precisely what I needed. I used before the monopod to put the camera in the air to get that straight from the front angle like we see in magazines. Well, sometimes I shoot like 3-4 pics and blend them to get the best results and for that I really need a tripod. Yes, this is tall enough, mind though, I strongly recommend to put the backpack or something relatively heavy attached to the hook to make the tripod more stable.
2. I film youtube channel videos and I have 1 camera and all the time I had to move the other tripod and put it back and it was not annoying, extremely annoying. Took easily 10-15 min extra just for the tripod setup, also the video was not the same(not from the same angle). Now I got this extra and I use to move it in different places/ angle.
3. Table top view for pics of video.
I have a 35 mm lens that I use most of the time and I film table top style, so if its 35mm it means I have to place the camera more high to get the scene so this really helps, check the video i made, makes sense what I am explaining here.
Besides this got the transverse bar which is a super cool and helpful feature.
There are so many combinations you can do with this tripod, to understand better check the video.
Pros: quite a few as mentioned before.
Relatively medium heavy I would say, a heavy tripod is the one used for TV cameras 10kg probably. This one you can feel is strong, I have also a carbon fiber tripod, super conveninent but seems so sensible.
Got a carrying case which is cool, for this one I use it, mind it will not fit in your regular photography backpack(inside), you have to attach it to the side.
How is the ball head?
Well its easy to move around, has marks for degrees which is very helpful for panoramas and 360 virtual tours, I dont remember if i ever use this feature but its a bonus to have it.
Can be used as a monopod and its easy to set up, check the video. Mind when you put the leg back, secure it properly.
Legs easy to open, better than the previous models. This is a good improvement, you know you fold and unfold the tripod for 10 times a day, has to be an easy operation.
Material? Aluminium.
Suitable for? Most of the cameras, mind though when using tele lens, if you go for a 400mm then mind to set your tripod in the right position.
Cons? Nothing at the moment.
Price?
You know, you go out one night and spend more than this tripod costs.
For what it delivers price wise, nothing to say.
Fair price, yes.
