Dangerous Intent: A Nichelle Clarke Crime Thriller, Book 9 Audible Audiobook – Unabridged

4.5 4.5 out of 5 stars 1,123 ratings

Missing teenagers and execution-style murders vie for crime reporter Nichelle Clarke's attention as she chases the stories into a web of intrigue and danger, determined to discover the truth at any cost.

Nichelle Clarke owes her boss a big headline. She gets her lucky break when a member of a notorious hate group is found dead, his body dumped in the woods. But then a boy from a local LGBTQ support group goes missing, and Nichelle can't turn away from an old friend's plea for help finding him.

Police across the state are reluctant to expend dwindling resources on runaways and murdered bigots, leaving Nichelle to take the investigations into her own hands. The number of missing teenagers climbs. Meanwhile, more dead bodies point to a ruthless serial killer with prejudice in his sights. As clues and dead ends pile up in nearly equal numbers, the situation quickly spirals out of Nichelle's control.

The killer is a master at covering their tracks, and they won't stop until they've passed deadly judgment on every last bigot in the state.

Nichelle will fight her way through communities swallowed by fear to save lives . . . unless she loses her own in the process.

Contains mature themes.

Seamless Next Installment to This Favorite Series
Finally! The next book in the Nichelle Clarke Series has arrived. I had missed reading about the fabulous shoes, the sweet pup, Nichelle's relentless pursuit of a story and her relationship with the enigmatic Joey. This book did not disappoint. Although the underlying cultural topics are disturbing and worth discussing further, I overall enjoyed the book. This first team effort of coauthors Lyndee Walker and Laura Muse was successful and seamless. I could not tell where one voice ended and another began. So, Well Done Ladies! I look forward to your next joint effort.

Kudos! Authors LynDee Walker and Laura Muse for delivering a new
crime thriller addition to one of my favorite, well-written crime series,
    the "Nichelle Clark Mystery Series."
Crime reporter, Nichelle Clark followed her old boss to a new weekly paper, so reporting has been slow. She's back and she is hot on the trail with a new murder, but was this a mafia executed hit. Twist things up by adding in a few hate groups. Now she has a LGBT support group missing teenager. Nichelle is always on her game and she listens when her gut tells her something is just not right and this is off. Meanwhile, the clock is ticking on her tying all these pieces together and giving her boss a front page news column, plus beating out her competition would be really nice. Nichelle top priority is finding the missing teenager alive and she has her old friends helping. Thank goodness her personal life rocks, she's happily in love with her Joey, while her ex, Kyle is still her best friend. I recommend "Dangerous Intent," and the complete series to all readers. Enjoy!

I have loved every book in this series until this one. For some reason it just wasn’t as interesting to me. But I’d definitely recommend the series.
However, please say there’ll be another Nichelle Clarke book. There has to finally be a wedding!!!!

This ninth book in the Nichelle Clarke series is just as good as the others. Nichelle Clarke is chasing two separate stories for the paper. One is about a local football player who is benched because of a bad drug test, or was it? He had just come out as being gay. While working on that she finds there are some missing teenagers from a local LGBTQ group. While listening to her scanner, she happens on a body, killed execution style, in the woods. While looking into it to see if there is a story, she finds out he is part of a hate group. Is that worthy of a storyline? While investigating both she finds a few too many coincidences. What really is going on? This just might be her biggest story yet if she can link them both. There is always a mixture of laughter, shoes, tears, and intrigue throughout the story. It’s very well written and keeps you interested with all the plot twists. And where’s her relationship with Joey going? He wants to meet her mother. And if you have followed Nichelle you know her mother is very important to her. Definitely looking forward to the next one in the series.

This book is probably her best. It addressed a lot of issues going on today and showed how harmful bigotry can be. I definitely recommend this book and only wish reporters were brave enough to write something like this..

Dangerous Intent is what we needed when it comes to mysteries that have many books and plot lines in the series. It went into white supremacy, LGBTQIA+ issues, and found family. We have the same characters from all the rest of the books, but it was different in terms of how the authors went into the real life issues that the LGBTQIA+ community faces when it comes to the support and the hatred they receive. But also it shows, even in this day in age, white supremacy is still a huge issue and should be handled as a bigger problem then it is. For the ending, I did see it coming, BUT I also didn’t know the turn it would take right near the end of the climax. It shocked me and actually made me love the book even more. I definitely recommend this book and can’t wait to see what happens in the next book!

Nichelle Clarke first year at RVA Week has flown by, so when she gets a phone call from Troy Wright, who was an intern with Grant Parker regarding a local LGBTQ support group and a missing member, Nichelle can’t not listen to a friend’s plea for help. Along with our favorite Aaron White, ATF Kyle Miller and boyfriend Joey, another great segment to this series. As Nichelle tries to help Troy she is also looking into the death of two men who are hate group, could the two be connected?

This author is amazing! When I start one of her books, I can't put them down! Into wee hours of the night, I read on amazed at the twists and turns, the compassion developed for the characters and the human interest stories! I barely finish one book until I've researched the next one to read. I encourage anyone to read her books...you won't be sorry...just be prepared to frantically search for her next book.

5.0 out of 5 stars Welcome back Nichelle
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on June 30, 2022
Nichelle Clarke makes a welcome return in this ninth outing written primarily by New author Laura Muse, although the closeness to LynDee Walker's style makes for a near seamless transition. The familiar cast of characters are reassembled and as always the story has a direct link to one of them. The plot centering around LGBTQI+ acceptance is thoroughly engrossing and, as always, Nichelle is such a likeable central character.
