The most affordable all-in-one home studio co sole that exists. Period.

TLDR: you're getting a 24x4 96 kHz audio interface in a console form factor, with channel strips and preamps and all, for under $. If there's a more budget-friendly home recording solution on the market today, I've never seen it.

For as long as I've used DAWs, I've wanted to track every mic individually. Not with busses/ subgroups, but each channel independently. And that is difficult, expensive, or both. Until now, anyway.

You can buy a hardcore AI and convert XLR to DB25, or you can set up a Dante/ AVB network. Both solutions are expensive and complicated. What I really wanted was a mixing console with an AI built in. And that's exactly what the Onyx24 is.

You're getting 18 preamps (lots of split channels though) with full strips (EQ, gain, etc.). And you just pop in the USB, fiddle with drivers for a minute, and there you go: you're piping 24 tracks into your DAW simultaneously and recording them at 96 kHz/ 24-bit.

I can mic my full drum kit, bass and guitar cabs, and have lines for vocals, keys, DI, whatever, and track it all simultaneously. Find me another solution that can do all of that in one unit, at this resolution, for less than $. I double-dog dare you.

My wish list for any Mackie reps who read this review:

* Make an Onyx32. Maybe even an Onyx48. I would buy an Onyx48! Take my money!
* Add a BNC for a light. Yeah, I still use one lol
* Mechanical faders
* DAW control that works with Studio One and those aforementioned faders
* Up the conversion to 192/24 because I really think that's the future
* A network port wouldn't hurt, even though I'm not networking yet
* Either a TalkBack feature through cue or just some sort of connection with the Mackie Big Knob so I'm not using two separate USB ports and messing with them in Windows
* More space for console tape would be a big plus on a bigger board

I genuinely believe this is the best console/ AI solution on the market today for under $. I very highly recommend getting one.

15 AND 16 STEREO PAIRED

I like Mackie...had a 32x8 back in the day and it served me well as a return desk from a multitrack.

Been looking at a multitrack return console with at least 16 mono individual channels... and here with this board it's almost right.....BUT THEY PAIRED 15/16 UP. Who does this? why? At least start with 17/18!!!! keep 1-16 mono!!!

Before this, I was shopping a higher end board hoping for 24 mono faders small footprint and good sound,...they almost nailed it....BUT THEY PAIR 17/18 UP and ther's always a work arounf but I/m tying to streamline
