From the manufacturer
Superb Glass Never Goes Out of Style
Great glass endures. That's why Nikon cameras—from the Nikon F in 1959 all the way to D850—have remained compatible with nearly all F-mount NIKKOR lenses. Why would things be any different with the Nikon Z? The Mount Adapter FTZ lets you keep shooting the lenses you know and love while also gaining the benefits of the new Z system. The legacy of compatibility continues.
Superb glass never goes out of style.
Proven optics meet the latest imaging advancements.
On a Z camera with the Mount Adapter FTZ, compatible F-Mount NIKKOR lenses retain all of their sharpness and superb rendering power. Plus, they gain so much—smooth, fast Hybrid-AF*, silent shooting, breakthrough low-light performance, the benefits of the camera's built-in VR image stabilization and more.
*Full AF/AE supported when using FX or DX AF-S Type G/D/E, AF-P type G/E, AF-I type D and AF-S/AF-I Teleconverters
Steadier than ever.
On a Z camera, every lens has VR.
For the first time, you can experience fast aperture NIKKOR primes like the AF-S NIKKOR 105mm f/1.4E ED or AF-S NIKKOR 24mm f/1.4G ED with up to 5 stops of 3-axis VR image stabilization. NIKKOR lenses that already have VR, like the AF-S NIKKOR 70-200mm f/2.8E FL ED VR, get the added benefit of roll axis for a total of 3-axis VR. Just add the optional Mount Adapter FTZ and you're good to go.
NOTE: Many non-CPU lenses can also benefit from in-camera VR when registering the focal length into the camera.
Precisely Matched
Camera and lens in harmony.
Crafted from rugged Magnesium Alloy and weather-sealed against dust and moisture, the Mount Adapter FTZ preserves the durability of your camera body and lens. An integrated tripod mount keeps the stress of long lenses off the camera body.**
**If the F-mount lens you're using has its own tripod mount, use it instead of the tripod mount of the Mount Adapter FTZ.
So Many Possibilities
Compatible with a huge selection of NIKKOR lenses.
The Mount Adapter FTZ works with approx. 360 lenses in total, 90 of which are AF-S, AF-P or AF-I type and have full AF/AE capability.

The issues of compatibility for my Tamron G1 15-30mm lens and combo as said, seems more about when the lens was manufactured (mine was a very late model purchased just before Tamron discontinued this version) but also, the camera model (with latest firmware installed) that the FTZ is mounted to.
Why I can not state exact specifics of why this combo works perfectly (to my great relief), I do think that compatibility is partly due to the lens beng used of course, but, also the Z model and firmware version for the Z and FTZ as well. My FTZ was just manufactured this year and had the latest firmware (1/2021) already installed.
So, for those who do not want to give up their favorite F lenses and be forced to spend a lot more $ on new replacement lenses, this is truly good news.
In fact, I also own two cheapie Yongnuo lenses (sold at amazon), ...a 35mm and 50mm that perform very well optically and yes, they as well both function perfectly on the FTZ/ 6II combo!
AF and A-exposure are fast and exposures are right on for all lenses I used on the new FTZ.
I also own the Nikon 24-120mm f4 and the Sigma 150-600mm Contemporary lens with Sigma UD-01 dock and as of yet have not tried it out on this new 6II/FTZ pkg, but, all reviews as well as many FTZ forums all state these lenses work perfectly on the FTZ with older and newer Z versions so I'm not worried there at all and will try them out soon.
In shooting perhaps 100 shots on my F mounts lenses, every one performed flawlessly as they do on my D850.
Big relief here because had I experienced any lens issues using the FTZ, this bundle would have been returned.
I'll be writing a review on the Z 6II soon once I have some experience of use with it.
So for the time being, I can state that the FTZ and my new Z 6II will work seamlessly with my other lenses.
Having read in many forums that the Nikkor 24-120mm F4 and my big Sigma 150-600 Tele zoom also work fine, I have to say, no issues here once-so-ever with compatibility at all! (big sigh of relief!).
My 6II/FTZ bundle will be a keeper for certain!
Pros
1. Works with my Sigma 17-50 F2.8 without any issues. I used it for years on my D5200 and the image quality on my Z6 II with this adapter is noticeably better (better color etc) so I don't think it negatively affects image quality.
2. My lens fit on the adapter firmly without any grinding or wobble. I guess some people have had issues with this but I haven't.
3. Doesn't add much weight to the camera.
4. Tripod mount on the bottom of the thing works well.
Cons
1. There's really nothing to this. Some electronic contacts. There's no glass in this. No idea why this costs as much as it does.
2. Doesn't work with all lenses and the list is confusing for folks like me who haven't kept up with Nikon lenses for the last 40 years lol. Google it before you buy to make sure yours works so you're not left with an expensive surprise.
Overall, I'm glad I bought this thing with my camera. The reduction in price makes this easier to swallow and puts it in line with competitors. It works well and makes my lens work well. Plus, it gives me access to older Nikon lenses until Z mount stuff gets a little more varied and a little cheaper. Recommended.
It seems a bit expensive for what it is, but sometime you may be able to pick one up at a discount when you purchase a Z camera.
Overall, it is worth having.
I happen to get the Nikon Z50 but had some lenses that was not going to make the cut. And I didn’t necessarily want to start all over again, hence why I stuck to Nikon when going mirrorless.
That’s where this FTZ Mount comes in. I gotta say, I was through-fully impressed by it. If needed be, I can use my older prime lenses such as the 35mm or 50mm lens with autofocus working as well.
This mount is recommended on those who have non-mirrorless Nikon lens that could benefit for having its full functionality back.

Turns out that my new camera was faulty, the aperture did not work properly. Replaced camera plugged the adapter in and everything worked perfect. There is a very small fall in autofocus performance but rather the cost of all new lenses it is a good comprimise. It is strong and well built. Worth the little extra cost.
