Perfect for fans of James Patterson, J.D. Robb, and Melinda Leigh.

When a body is discovered in a high-rise in Richmond, Virginia, crime reporter Nichelle Clarke races to the scene. The victim is a brilliant doctor with an unusual past. But before Nichelle can decide what to make of the murder, the local police radio is filled with a dreaded distress call.

There is an active shooter at a nearby hospital.

The gunman has taken hostages on a patient floor, and gives the police a single demand.

He wants to speak with Nichelle.

Each book gets better and better, and even more exciting! Nichelle has learned to never say there’s nothing happening in the world of news! Ha!
Let’s see, she keeps getting messages she can’t figure out; then someone is murdered in a swanky high rise; then a hospital is put on lock down because of a gunman; a woman is shot and killed; and the gunman wants to talk to Nichelle and Charlie only, no one else!
What is going on?? You just have to read this book😊😊

It’s amazing how Nichelle finds herself in these stories and predicaments. From a distance the idea sounds a little contrived. I mean, how many times can one be shot. But these stories work really well. I like the characters and the drama. I am a fan.

Ms. Walker is one heck of a writer and I hope she blesses us with her talent for a very long time. Nichelle is an awesome leading character in any genre and is one of the most interesting and real ones I’ve ever read. The story was amazing and I love all of them!

When Nichelle gets called to a hostage situation at the hospital, her heart bleeds for the hostage taker. He is in so much emotional pain that he literally can’t think straight. He has reached the lifetime insurance spending limit trying to cure his wife’s cancer. They have young children and she is the moon and the stars to him. Right now there is no hope. His retirement was cashed in long ago to feed this raging cancer monster. Their home has been sold to feed the mighty beast, but still it rages on, devouring more of her each day. In desperation, the frantic husband tries to force the doctors to save his wife.
As always, the author, LynDee Walker, reaches out and grabs the reader by their emotions. Nichelle is a journalist who simply will not give up when faced with a problem. I can’t imagine anyone not enjoying the wild ride that is one of Ms Walker’s books. To read one is to become a fan.

I know I might be a little sensitive but I had a hard time reading about cancer patients. As I am only a year out from my surgeries my feeling are very raw and hit to close to home . So it was making me physically sick and sad to read this book. As usual it was a seat of your pants type of book and basically did enjoy.

Cover Shot is the fifth book inLynDee Walker's A Headline in High Heels Mystery series, and it may just be the best yet! I have thoroughly enjoyed the first four books and Cover Shot just makes me hungry for the next one. The protagonist, Nichelle Clarke, a journalist for a Richmond newspaper, is as much a mystery solver as a first rate reporter. She is surrounded by a group of interesting characters who sometimes help and sometimes hinder her in her adventures. She has 2 special men in her life-- one who may have a shady past.In Cover Shot a doctor who may have discovered the cure for cancer dies and his death/murder is shrouded in mystery. Michelle encounters many roadblocks investigating, and they make for a fast paced story that you won't want to put down. Definitely a five star read!

Landed Walker never fails to impress. Her character Nichelle Clarke always seeks to uncover the why of the story. That's what makes her a great reporter. There are side stories of her personal life but they only enhance her search for the truth.

5.0 out of 5 stars Relatable, likeable hero and exciting plot

Oh my gosh. I was hooked within minutes. Many books in this genre are written without insider knowledge - this whole series has a strong foundation in that the author has lived the life of a crime reporter. Nichelle is a really likeable, relatable character too, who has a strong code od reporting ethics, good relationships with the police, and treats people with kindness and respect whilst pursuing the truth. The plot is exciting, well paced, and wraps up well at the end. I bought all of the books in the series and I really miss Nichelle now that I'm finished.
