The straps are of good quality and design. They get HEAVY use from me and barely show the slightest sign of wear. The leather on my boots is in worse shape than the strap. I definitely recommend these to anyone who needs a solid metguard.
I work in a facility that requires electrical rating in our boots, and the overlap between electrical and met-guard is pretty thin, so I was looking for a way to add some extra protection to the boots I have to wear.
They fit a little loose. The main technique for attaching them is to run the laces through a set of holes in the lower piece, and then close the strap on the upper piece around another pair of laces further up. I hated dealing with them on my 6" boots, because I had to snap and unsnap the top piece every time I took my boots on and off, but my 8" boots are tall enough that I can leave them permanently "set up." They still clack around a little, and occasionally get caught on things, but they seem to be doing their job of keeping slag from damaging the uppers and laces of the boots, and have helped keep heavy objects from hitting the tops of my feet, after I nearly broke my foot when a piece of 6" bar stock caught me behind the steel toe.
I have noticed some people have made the complaint the middle hinge connecting the two pieces of the protector sometimes comes undone. This hasn't happened to me but it seems this is more a concern if your boots are fairly flexible (in the area underneath the protectors) and you haven't adequately secured the protector to your shoe laces. These protectors could be problematic for some people.
The protectors are secured to the boot with the use of your shoelaces in only two places: at the very top and the very bottom. This is both a good and bad thing, as I have observed. This leaves the underside of the protector free-floating through the entirety of the middle section. This allows for some degree of flexibility of the laces and the boot which might be otherwise restricted, being suffocatingly bound to the protector. The downside is that the protector will move around in ways you do not intend and do not want unless you ensure your laces are quite tightly wound. What I don't like there is that when I have to tighten my laces too tightly, it constricts the movement of my feet in the boot (making for much sorer feet at the end of the day). This may or may not be an issue for you but it is something to consider when considering whether protectors like these are worth buying.

Me gustaría que su diseño de fijación al calzado sea mejor, no se ajusta enteramente con las cintas de los zapatos y queda un poco floja.
