Ravenel Hayes is a perfect daughter, a loving sister, a loyal friend, and an excellent student. Returning home to complete her MBA and be closer to her family, she has her future all mapped out. That is until her path leads her straight into Declan Collins. The dark haired, tattooed singer with a sinful body is a distraction, one that’s way out of her league. He wasn’t part of her plan. But now that he’s literally knocking on her door, how can she avoid him?

Declan Collins lives life to the edge. His only emotional attachments are to his family and his band. He’s your typical bad-boy, lead singer who lives with no regrets. “Hook-up and head-out” is his motto. His ultimate goal is to take his band all the way to the top, or so it was. When he runs into Raven, she stirs up emotions in him that he had never thought possible. From their very first meeting, there’s no denying the chemistry between them. He’s not a relationship guy, but can she change his playboy ways?

Jealousy, anger, stalkers, and fame and fortune threaten to tear these two apart. Will surrendering to their love get them through the challenges that await them? Or will it tear them apart?

REACTION AFTER READING THE BOOK

5 Sparkling and Steamy Hearts!

Holy.Hotness indeed!!

This book had everything! It was refreshing read really. It wasn't really that hard to connect with the story as the writing is pretty awesome. When I was reading, it felt as if a friend was telling me her story. I just really loved that. You'll get hooked just by reading the first few pages. This book was very easy to love!

Hoooraaayyy!!

A job well done on this book!!

HERE'S THE GIST

Raven moved back home to spend more time with her family and also complete her MBA at Vanderbilt. Everything was planned out but what she wasn't planning on was being tackled over by a guy whom (in her head) she decided to name as Holy-Hotness, during one of her yoga sessions. Although he was hot as hell and she was totally attacted, she wasn't really that interested.

Just when Raven thought that was the end of her encounter with Mr.Holy Hotness... She was so wrong.

Raven rented a room with a house she immediately falls in love with. She has two roommates which coincidentally were... Mr. Holy Hotness' sisters.

Yep that's right. Her roommates was the same guy whom was on top of her just moments ago!! What a small world isn't it? Imagine how more awkward it was when everone knew what they called Declan. Yep. The hansome tackler has a name. It was Declan Collins.

Declan Collins was a lead vocalist for a band name Sayge. He had a great voice, handsome, a loving brother and full-pledged womanizer. He doesn't do relationships. You see him with a different girl in the backroom before and after each of their performance. But then he meets Raven... She stirs him up. It was like she's woken up something inside of him that has been sleeping for a long time and the guy who sort of sworn off being in a relationship suddenly wanted to prove to everyone (including his sisters) that he capable of staying loyal to one girl.

After spending time together, a few sleepovers and movie sessions (no sex... yet..) they've gotten close and eventually fell in love.

Happily ever after? No definitely not.

Things happened.
They argued.
They had differences.
Someone was too jealous.
Someone was too relax.
Someone else was in love but doesn't want to admit it. *i guess you guys will figure who this one is easily!*
A decision was made which made the other one decide too.
Lots of things happened.
But will Declan and Raven's love be enough to save their relationship and surpass all their trials?

FIRST IMPRESSIONS

I would like to thank Ahren again for the opportunity to read and review this book. It was amazing by the way!

Okay so first thoughts on this book.. I am a cover whore so I definitely fell in love with that cover! It was damn gorgeous. One complain though was I couldn't see the guy's face. Would have been nice to have some sort of glimpse on how the author picture the guy in her book right? But that's just a minor senseless rant. It doesn't really affect on how awesome the story is.

So what else? The blurb in goodreads. It was definitely what this book is all about. It stayed true to the book but... Well you'll have to read it to know why.. Something towards the end happened which completely left my mouth hanging open.

It just hit me like an unexpected hurricane. I didn't see it coming which is a good thing!

MEET THE CHARACTERS

Ravenel Hayes

"Um, Declan, don't you need a shirt?"

First. Let me just get this out of my chest. Her name sounds weird when you say Ravenel. I have no idea how you say that. I like her as Raven even though she doesn't have jet black hair. Black and raven? Get it? LOL. Okay no that wasn't very funny. I suck at making jokes.

Back to the Raven.

Soo. She's just amazing! What can I say? I loved her from start to finish. She's one of those characters that you will love even though they are perfect from head to foot. She was smart. She was extremely pretty. She was understanding. She was friendly. She knows how to dance. She was nice to everyone. She was perfect in literally everything and sometimes I think its unfair.

But then as you read through the book you'll see that she's not really that perfect either. Sometimes she was insenstive towards how Declan was feeling. Sometimes she makes a decision because of how bad she feels which ends up making the people around her worry. Sometimes she's wreckless. I thought I fell in love with a character that was way too perfect.. But its good to know that she's just as flawed as the other female leads that I loved and adored. She was just as imperfect and I think I like her better that way.

She's not a weak character. I think that's also why I liked her. She was the type of girl that doesn't take shit from anyone.. Including Declan, her brother, Finn and crazy psycho fans of Declan's band.

By the way just an FYI on Raven.. Her father was an ex-special forces and now handles a security stuff company and he has guys.. Sometimes her father gets too paranoid sooo.. She has hunky, overprotective body guards on her all the time. Eventually, they became her friends especially Finn but come on!! 7 hot-goodlooking-sexy guys all there to protect you from bad guys?! How lucky can you fucking get?

Declan Collins

"One of these days, I hope you'll know about every part of my body, not just my tatoos."

Drool.
*wipes drool*
Drooling again.
Drool pooling down on the floor.

Declan. I just love saying that name. Well what can I say with Mr. Holy Hotness? A lot!

When you read the blurb, you might get turned off because he seems to be the typical badboy who fell in love with a virgin *oopsie. yep. Raven is a virgin* and then changed blah blah bullshit but then.. He was more than that.

Aside from being sexy as hell.

"He is about 6'2 and all muscles. His chest, his arms, and back strain under his shirt. A trail of ink that resembles a tribal design snakes around his upper arm. His dark hair is cut close on the sides and longer on top. He has the greenest eyes I've ever looked into. All of a sudden, I feel my knees go weak as I stare at him."

"He's in faded jeans and a black shirt; I see he has a piercing on his lower lip and it's sexy as hell. I'm thinking about how much I want to run my tongue over his lips when he clears his throat and looks at me."

Declan was also an amazing brother and son. He loves his family so much that I want to have a family with him. LOL.

"There were only three women in my life that I loved before you. One was my mom, and the other two are my sisters. I love you in a different, deeper way and these feelings are foreign to me."

I liked Declan. A lot. He was a total alpha male! Gawwd he is so hot. And loving. And sweet. And thoughtful. And a musician. And he's hot. Oh and did I mention he was gorgeous too? Did I just forget to mention that? Oh dear. I'm totally smitten by this handsome devil!

What else? Oh well. Declan was kind of the jealous type. He was overly possessive that sometimes I think is just a tad bit out of control. But hey it works with the story I guess. And I think it was highly because he doesn't know how the relationship stuff works because if he wasn't jealous and just got the relationship thing perfect the first time then.. That is just crazy and highly unrealistic. So i liked him just the way he is. :)

Declan was a monster... in bed! If you could ask Raven, she'll probably say she had thousands of orgasms and I had a couple of bookgasms too myself. Dude! It was really hot. And that piercing!! Fucking hell! That was just... *phew* I couldn't even start. I'm not into piercings but that has got to be the hottest one ever!

I'd go on and on about Declan but that's not going to be much fun after a while sooo we'll go now to..

Finn Black

"Rave, I've seen you in your yoga clothes and I can guarantee you that you had nothing to be embarrassed about. Even though I can't touch, doesn't mean I can't look - and appreciate the view."

I love Finn too! He is the type of best friend that every girl should have but then.. That's going to be trouble if the guy falls in love with the girl and the girl has no fucking clue. Not saying that's the case here but... Yeah well who knows? All I could say is that I loved Finn from Chapter 1 and so on. He is very dependable and honest and cute as hell. There is a big reason why Declan is always so possessive of Raven. And one of them was Finn.

Even though Raven and Finn are ONLY friends, being that close to a guy while you have your boyfriend is indeed a bit weird. I guess as time passes by the guy will have to deal but I think Rave did a good job making it clear that Declan is who she wants and not Finn or any other guy. Still... That doesn't stop me from drooling and swooning over Finn too.

Finn, for me, is actually a main character too. He plays a big role althroughout the story and I loved that he did. I'll be looking out for you on the next book! Hope you don't screw up!! LOL.

Declan + Raven = IT'S GETTING SO HOT IN HERE!

Raven and Declan could be as cute as hell when they're talking.. They make such a cute couple.

But they could be bipolar sometimes. Not in a bad way. They are just cuddly sweet one minute and the next minute.. *BOOM* all their clothes are gone. And I would have to warn you... The steamy scenes are REALLY steamy! Oh dear! I had countless bookgasms! It was insane. There was a lot of them. Yeah there was a lot but the book didn't lose its substance because of the sexy parts which was good!

Their relationship builded up great. They were attacted to each other but they didn't just jump into a relationship because of that. I think Raven was to be given kudos for that!

There was jealously here and there majority of which was from Declan but.. Raven has her moments too. LOL. Especially with those two girls.. That was extremely funny! You go girl!

FINAL VERDICT

I was completely taken by this book. It drew me in and suck me into its pages! There was no doubt this would have to be one of my favorite books for this year!

Like I said, the writing was fluid, the story was just so good!

I would have to make some comments though about how long some of the scenes were. I think there are some parts that the story could do without but with it its still okay. All I'm saying was that there are some parts that could be taken out but will still come out as amazing!

There were a lot of secondary characters too! I'd like to name them all and give you guys a description but if I did.. it will take me forever. LOL. Just kidding. But there seriously were a lot and hopefully they'd get their own story because from what I have read.. They each have their own backstories too.

At first, it seems like a common story of a rocker and a good innocent girl but its not. The twists and turns come out towards the end of the story and you'll be surprised on how surprising it is. I didn't see that stupid cliffhanger coming and also that struggle they had towards the end. I wasn't expecting it at all and I loved it. It made me rate the book 5! It was because of the uncertainty of what will happen next. I always love that in a book. A book is supposed to be like a box of chocolate, you're never suppose to know what will happen next.. Unless of course, you skim through the pages and read the end!!

Anyhow.. I loved loved loved it! I would definitely recommend it to anyone who loves a cute and steamy romance novel that will make you smile, laugh, fall in love and... bookgasm then this is definitely for you!

**ARC provided by author for an honest review**

Well, damn. I don't even know what to rate this book right now. About the first 60% I was cruising along, reading at a fast pace, enjoying the characters and the plot. It had sexual tension, a possessive, obsessive hot rocker, great bantering and humor and I was all in. Then the story just changed for me. I don't know...I'm trying to pinpoint what it was exactly. The pace kind of came to a standstill for me. I was pushing myself to read the last section. And I shouldn't have been. There was an awful lot of drama and conflict. Almost too much maybe. Before I get into that though, let me tell you a little about the story.

Ravenel has just moved back to Nashville in order to attend Vanderbilt for her MBA. The book starts out with her colliding on campus with a sexy tatted and pierced guy (whom she mentally names Holy Hotness). She's all tongue-tied and insta-lusting...until he opens his mouth. Then she realizes he's arrogant, cocky, and a big time player. And she's not about to get played. That doesn't mean she can't appreciate the packaging....hehe.

I watch his retreat and think for a second about how fine his ass looks in his athletic shorts. Then I remember he's probably a player. Albeit he's gorgeous, but I'm not looking for this type of distraction right now.

I really liked that about her. She was intelligent, and had self-esteem. She wasn't about to be used by some pretty boy just because she liked how he looked. She stood up for herself and repeatedly put him in his place when needed.

So, she's house hunting with Finn (her and her brother's friend) and she falls in love with a house that has a room to rent with two sisters. The house is quaint, it's affordable, and she seems to click with the girls she would be living with. Perfect. Right? Too bad she doesn't know that Holy Hotness is her new roommates' brother.
Her reaction? Oh,hell no.
His? Game on.

Now here comes the hilarious part... his pursuit of her is not going to be a walk in the park. The awesomeness of this can not be fully described. But I'll do my best.

Raven's dad is ex-special forces and now a security specialist with his own company in the top of his field. He even works with the White House at times. Because of this she is surrounded by, and grew up around, not one, not two, but SIX smoking hot, overprotective, oversexed military/security men.(and her brother) There's Finn, Tripp, Gabe, Jimi, Max, Will, and her brother Robbie. That's SEVEN guys ready to bash somebody's teeth in who treats her wrong. This chick has a buffet of top male specimens following her around. Picture this guy:

TIMES 7. Mother of God. This book needs to come with a warning label. The amount of testosterone this book contains just might bust your Kindle or other reading device. No wonder the girl reached the ripe old age of 21 with her V-card intact.

A few examples of their cockblocking:

Who the fuck are you and why is your tongue in my sister's ear?" Shit! Robbie.
"To answer your question directly, I'm Declan and I was telling Raven how glad I was that she's home."
"With your tongue in her motherfucking ear?" I swear he's spitting fire.

"What the fuck is going on?" Max asks as he shoves Declan. He looks like he's about to pound his fist into Declan's face. "Max! Stop it!"

"What the fu..." I stop when I see Robbie's face. He's not amused at all. He gives Declan an evil glance and turns back to me. "You need to stop sucking face. Did you forget Dad's guys are all over the place?" (....) Do you want Dad to have a heart attack? It's bad enough he saw Declan's hickey and called me about it hyperventilating."

It's way over the top and stifling and overprotective. But you can't help but love these guys. They only want to keep her safe and protect her and it's all done out of love.

She's a part of my heart. We're a protective bunch. You need to know when you date her, you date all of us." He motions around the room. "She's special and I mean that in the most emphatic sense. I would say it's nice to meet you, but you have to earn it."
I almost die because all the boys have gathered next to Robbie.

So, yeah, Declan is one brave guy. He really deserves a fist bump for his determination in the face of these guys. I reeeaaaallly have to give him that. Raven is warned by his sisters to be cautious around him-they can see his interest in her but his past man-whorish ways speak for themself and they don't want her getting hurt. He's 6'2, all muscle, covered in ink and several piercings (a lip ring and an apadravya...holy hotness is right), and the lead singer in a local band.

He's not exactly struggling for female companionship. But from the beginning, he treats her with nothing but respect. She's different-she has self-respect, confidence and intelligence. She makes him laugh and she's one of the sexiest women he's ever seen. He gives her this cute nickname, Sparkle. It was pretty sweet-very original.

I decided when I got home last night that 'Sparkle' was your new nickname from me. I've never in my life had as much spark during a kiss as I did with you. Every time I say your new nickname, I want to remember that."

Declan went above and beyond showing her his feelings and proving to everyone his good intentions. But...seeing as this is his first attempt at a real relationship, he makes mistakes. Several of them. Irrational jealousy, bad decisions, and selfishness towards the end are just a few of their issues. Then they have someone threatening Raven, his band exploding on the music scene which means groupies, separation, and insecurities. This caused quite a bit of conflict. Maybe a bit too much drama for me. Another issue I had was as much as I loved the characters, the list seemed to get bigger and bigger until I was struggling a bit to keep them all straight in my mind. It disconnected me a bit with the story. And WTH. The ending? A cliffy that I was completely not expecting. Like, at all. It had me scratching my head a little bit-I didn't dislike where the author was going with it, but there was pretty much NO hint of it throughout the story. Then, BAM!

This book had lots of sweet romantic moments, sizzling moments, a wonderful group of friends and family, several surprises, and a heck of a plot twist at the end. And yes, there is a big cliffy at the end so you may want to wait on book 2 if that's what you prefer. I enjoyed the rock star angle. It was fun to see her backstage, interacting with the band and feeling that whole vibe.

But there was almost too much going on at times and I would have liked to see more focus on the two main characters and a little less drama. Overall it was a good book with a Bad Boy and worth a shot.

Ravenel Hayes is working to get her MBA and for the first time in her life is ready to let loose and just live her life as a college girl. Raven is a good girl who knows to have fun but also knows how to stay away from players. When she literally bumps into Declan Collins the first time she has him pegged, especially once he opens his mouth.

Rising rock star Declan can't believe the girl he hit on and was shot down is his sisters new roommate. Declan is not a relationship type of guy, but something about Raven has him wanting to try. Declan finds the more he spends time with Raven the more he knows she is the one. When Declan's band begins to take off he makes a choice that could destroy everything he and Raven are building.

This is a two part book. Declan is pure alpha and he has a jealous streak when it comes to Raven. Raven is a lot of fun, she can be feisty, fun, lovable, and determined. I thought this was a fantastic read, they go through growing pains as a new couple and anxious to see how it all unfolds.

From what I have read of it, this seems to be a by-the-numbers NA romance between a hot rocker (natch!) manslut and a hot virgin. Their friends and relatives are also all very HOT! It's as if Paris Hilton was writing this.

Putting aside all the gramatical errors and typos, the author can't tell the difference between weary/wary and incredulous/incredible. Buh-bye!

I rarely cannot finish a book. I made it to 58% and I'm done. This was the most poorly written, juvenile book I have ever tried to read. It isn't young adult but I had to check to make sure. The main character of the story, Raven, is depicted like some kind of knock out wonder. Every single person falls to her feet and worships her beauty. The supporting characters are somewhat well written but the security detail storyline is such fantasy and young girl thoughts that it is very hard to continue reading. The big question for me is how this book got such a high rating on goodreads. In my opinion, the reviews on this site are more discriminating than other sites. I would give this book a .5 star for effort. Save yourself time and money and look for something else. What a disappointment.

I'm completely okay with suspending reality but this is beyond the realm of make believe. This reads like a teenager's fantasy of what she and her friends would all look like, how college life will be like for her while she lives off campus and parties with her model gorgeous friends and OTT hot guy friends. I could not tolerate this book beyond 35%. Thank goodness I got this while it was on sale for a buck. Hell no would I even read book 2 - not even if it was free.

When I read the description of this book it sounded like it was going to be a great read. Especially with so many great reviews, I was really looking forward to it. From the first few pages I started rolling my eyes. I found myself looking at the page count hoping there wouldn't be too much left but omg I was only on page 22 & ready to punch someone. I hate not finishing books so I pushed through this. I love badass, alpha males as much as the next girl but Declan's jealousy was way out of control to the point where it was incredibly annoying. I could never tolerate a guy like that. Jealousy comes from being insecure. And what's with every guy in Raven's life being super hot & they're all so protective & love her more than anything?! She's just so hot & sexy that everywhere she goes, men are all over her or interested in her... seriously? Everyone gets along perfectly & they all connect with eachother right away... really? The characters were all so annoying. This book was way too long, the writing was poor & the dialogue was painful. And thanks for the cliffhanger! I don't know if I'll be able to continue this story.

I don't know what's come over me but I'm rereading this series and however I'm changing my review.

We meet the beautiful Raven and her hot friends and then an arrogant hot ass by the name of Declan Collins which I found annoying at times but all I can say is that he's too over confident of himself but while he has POVs here and there I grew to like how he is just vying for Raven's love. But, again I love the writing style of how this author brings each of her characters to life and make this book so enjoyable to love them, from the sexy hot Finn which I won't lie but (I'm TeamFinn) her brother and their friends.

But the cliffy will pull you back and wonder about the surprise interruption from a certain hottie that again all I wanted was for Raven to choose.

I had so much trouble with this book, I don't know where to start...
there was just too many factors that didn't fit, too many obstacles were just thrown in there and it all looked like a huge movie set up, overly choreographed, overly acted and mismatched in too many aspects of the story...not to mention it took me too long to read it inspite the number of pages.
I don't care what happens to them, or what's in store for them, will they make it, will they save their love...I don't give a shit, so no second part for me.

This is the first book of Ahren Sanders that I’ve read and all I can say is WOW! I give this book 4 1/2 stars.

Surrendering’s two main characters are Raven Hays and DeClan Collins. Although there are a host of secondary characters that this story could not be told without. All of the characters are so well developed. They are all so believable and I just felt like I was a part of this big wonderful group of friends! This book is definitely a character driven book...which I love!!! But this book will also bring out every emotion in you. There is action, suspense, drama, hot romance and laughter.

Raven is an MBA student who meets DeClan through her two new roommates, Ella and Abbi. DeClan is not only the older brother of Ella and Abbi but is also the lead singer of the rock band "Sayge". DeClan is a hot, sexy, drool worthy alpha male.
Raven is no pushover by any means. She's not your weak, I'll do whatever you tell me kind of woman.

DeClan, being a young, hot rock star is also the stereo typical womanizer and a self defined bachelor. He never sees past his one night stands until he sees Raven.

Raven is a smart, beautiful, fun and flirty young woman. She is certainly not immune to DeClan's charms and good looks but she's not some band groupie either.

As sparks fly between DeClan and Raven there are also underlying tensions. Can Raven trust DeClan with all of the gorgeous women throwing themselves at him every time he performs? And Raven is hiding secrets from her past. Will she find the courage to confide in DeClan about her past? Will revealing her secret strengthen or destroy their relationship?

Another major storyline in the book involves the band Sayge. DeClan and his 3 band mates; Blake, Cooper and Nate, have worked hard to break into the big time. They are a close group of friends who welcome Raven into their fold. At the beginning of the book they are a popular local band in Nashville with a loyal following. As the book continues on we begin to see some exciting changes for the band as well. With the growing success of the band will Raven and DeClan be able to hold onto their growing love for each other or will the strain of new found fame pull them apart?

There is so much going on in Surrendering and author Ahren Sanders weaves each sub-plot together so seamlessly that the story is a smooth easy read. Ms. Sanders also brings intrigue, electricity and a roller coaster of emotions to the reader so that you won't want to put the book down until the final word has been seared into your brain!

This book does leave the reader with a big cliffhanger! UGH! I'll be hanging on the side of that cliff until book 2 of this series is released!

I highly recommend this book! I will be recommending it to all my friends! Enjoy!

P.S. I have only one complaint and it's really just a pet peeve of mine. In one of the smaller sub-plots in the book we are introduced to 3 of Raven's best friends. The names of these women are Charlie, Harper and Kendall. Who has 3 female best friends with such strange names? I mean really? Okay so Kendall isn't so bad but even the name of the title character is ridiculous. Ravenella aka Raven? She doesn't even have jet black hair! Like I said this is just a pet peeve of mine when authors feel like they have to create these bizarre names for their characters. It's kind of like Hollywood where stars name their kids Apple or Rumor. Oh well....I still put this on my shelf of favorite books for this year.

Let's start by saying I LOVED this book and I couldn't put it down.

Ravenel "Raven" Hayes is a graduate student studying to get her MBA. Since she has never lived off campus she decides that she would like to rent a house with other students. She finds the perfect place to live, her two housemates are Ella and Abbi Collins. Raven meets their brother Declan the lead singer of Sayge and realizes that she had previously ran into him at the park....like literately ran into him, and she felt the sparks flying when he touched her.

Raven's family and friends have Special Ops and Security backgrounds and are really protective of her. Robbie (her brother) Finn, Mike, Will, etc. all guard Raven with their lives. Which really annoys Declan because he thinks every guy wants to get into Ravens pants regardless of the fact that she grew up with them.

The chemistry between Declan and Raven is undeniable but there is always something getting in their way, whether it's jealousy, stalkers, fame, or anger they are always getting mad about something.

I LOVED this book so much, I was laughing one minute and getting frustrated over something that one of them did the next. It made for a quick read even though its 300+ pages.
I am looking forward to the next book and I hope it comes out really soon because you were left with one heck of a cliffhanger!

I know which way I hope the next book goes but only time will tell....

My rating: 3 stars.

What I liked: I liked the ow drama that happens in the book. I also liked the chemistry between Declan(H) and Raven(h).

What I didn’t like: There was some issues with the time line. Also, I hated how Declan would start to get mad at Raven when she would get jealous and rub up on him to show that he is with her (he was ok if she wanted to show affection but not if she was jealous and was making it a point to the ow) but it was ok that he did it :/

How hot was it: 3 out 5

Triggers: OW drama. One of his friends with benefits takes photos of the h and the H thinks she is sleeping with them. When he confronts her he is drunk and has lipstick on his shirt. When she shows up at his house the same chick is at his house (looking like they did something) it is later discussed that nothing happened. Also, h is kidnapped by a different ow.

Final thoughts: This is my first book from this author and I will check out her other books. Even though it had some issues, I really enjoyed the ow drama. My biggest issue is how it ended because I didn’t know going in that it has a second book

I received a ARC of this book from the Author for a honest review.

Holy amazing is all I can think of to start with. I am in love with this Author and this series. Those of you who know me know that I do not leave spoilers as I believe you should find things out for yourself when you read it. This book is so worth every penny that you spend buying it. Raven is a beautiful talented and very smart college student with a family who adores each other. Declan is your rocker boy man-whore but so much different than a lot of the others that we have read in the past. You must must and I repeat must get this book. I laughed and cried and fell head over heels with every character. And oh my God some of Raven's friend had me just cracking up.
I can tell you this there is so much talent in this writer and I cannot wait to watch her grow

4.5 stars. Really loved it but the hero made a couple of stupid decisions that made me take off half a star. Review to come.

Verdict: 3 Yummy Man-Candy Stars!

For the record I'd like to state that I was very much looking forward to this read, and while It started out well...at some point past the insta-love it fell flat for me. I know insta-love is quite common nowadays but the quickness with which the male character changed his ways was a bit unconvincing. I feel like instead of the love building as the story progressed, it kind of plateaued and gave way to the hot sex (and boy was there lots of it). It didn't grow deep for me, and came across as insta-lust and remained that way. I didn't fall in love with the protagonists and suffer alongside because frankly, there wasn't much suffering going on. The protagonists weren't flawed which kept me from connecting with them. Not to say they have to be deeply scarred but some sort of personal struggle is key. There was a pretty serious conflict, but it came too little too late. So much happened in this book, I’m not even sure where to begin. Of one thing I am absolutely positive; this was an extremely steamy read. You may want to keep a few extra pairs of knickers handy.

Ravenel James Hayes is 21 year old soon to be MBA student looking to break free from her orderly lifestyle. Tired of always playing it safe she decides to live a little and goes in search of her own space and some much needed privacy. After staying at the man candy cave for a few weeks (I’ll explain later on) she finds the perfect place along with amazing housemates (Abbi & Ella Collins). What she didn’t expect was for her housemates to have a smokin’ hot rocker brother (Declan Collins) whom she had the pleasure of meeting weeks prior in a most unconventional and mortifying way. Having been raised in a family where safety and security are highly valued, Raven always kept a low profile. Falling for a womanizing player was not in her plans but it became quite impossible to ignore the electrifying chemistry between them.

Declan Collins (aka Holy Hotness) is the scintillating lead singer in the band Sayge. He’s completely committed to making it big along with his band mates and loves his lifestyle. Armed with a gorgeous tatted up body, all kinds of delicious piercings and amazing emerald green eyes, he gladly enjoys the pleasurable perks of his musician status. Accustomed to backstage hookups and no strings attached, he is more than intrigued by Raven’s stunning beauty and just-one-of-the-guys attitude. She’s smart, sexy, and knows how to hang with a bunch of guys without taking any shit. Although he’s warned by his sisters to keep his distance and charming ways from Raven, he goes against his own man-whore nature in an effort to maker claim her as his. The spark their kiss ignites is unlike anything he’s ever experienced, propelling him do everything in his power to prove that she won’t be another meaningless hookup, but could very well be his one and only.

With a little help from her friends (Finn, Tripp and Gabe aka members of the man candy brigade) Raven gets settled into her new home. Being a guys’ girl, she is constantly surrounded by her brother’s friends all of which are drool-worthy in their own way. The main one being Finn Black, ex-marine and Robbie’s best friend. He’s taken on the role of protector and most intimate male friend. Having a camaraderie that allows for shameless flirting, Raven finds herself constantly discrediting people’s perception that she shares a little more than just friendship with Finn. Although she repeatedly tells him she loves him, to her it’s in a strictly platonic way since she’s been romantically off-limits to Robbie’s friends for as long as she can remember. Finn on the other hand struggles to adequately mask his undeniable feelings towards his beloved Baby Girl. Reluctant to give up his place in Raven’s life yet having her best interests at heart, he steps back into the sidelines and watches as she falls head over heels for Declan.

Now I know what you’re thinking, this has the makings of a typical love triangle. Not so much. Raven and Declan are able to develop and maintain a blissfully undisturbed courtship and relationship. Their interaction is quite endearing and definitely makes them a very likeable couple to the reader. Their amazing chemistry even made me a bit uncomfortable. So much so, that I questioned whether or not it was possible for a novel to be too sexy. I mean those two were going at it like rabbits for most of the book. Raven went from virginal to nympho in a heartbeat which was understandable given the beautiful male specimen she had to call her own…but damn girl, pump the brakes! They eventually stumbled across a road block, stemming from Declan’s whorish past. It was a bit predictable and all throughout I couldn’t shake the nagging feeling that trouble was lurking nearby and that distracted me from being fully immersed in the story.

While I didn't fall in love with Declan and Raven, they were entertaining. I wished things would have played out differently, which is why I absolutely loved the ending! I was pleasantly surprised by sexy Finn and I am certainly looking forward to the next installment. Surrendering is a story of first time love, second chances and broken promises. Friendships will be tested and boundaries crossed, if you’re into hot rocker types or simply enjoy having your books jam-packed with man candy, this one’s for you.

DNF - the h is too not like other girls - literally every single man in all the world is in love with her and ready to protect her with their life - and she knows it. It’s a weird vibe. Can’t figure out why the H wants her. Their banter felt more bitchy than flirty. 🤷🏼‍♀️

**ARC provided by author for an honest review**

This book has its ups and downs, but overall it’s a really good book!
What I absolutely LOVED about this book? Raven!
After reading a few too many books with a weak, naïve and annoying female protagonist (which makes me want to pull my hair out!), Ravenel Hayes was a breath of fresh air - she wasn’t a doormat, a wimp, an excessive crier and she didn’t suffer from an anxiety attack every two seconds. Now that I think about it, I don’t recall her ever blushing or biting her lower lip because of low self-esteem! (Thank you Ahren ☺.)
Finally an MC I’d actually like to be friends with.

Other things I loved:
Declan – I love a good bad boy and this one made my knees weak and my heart beat faster.
The steamy sex scenes.
The hot and over-protective guys Raven grew up with.
Her cool and caring girlfriends.

One thing did surprise me though – I LOVE the chase and I don’t think there was too much of that in Surrendering, but for some reason it didn’t bother me at all. You are still able to keep up with their love.

The book did sort of lose me around 80-90%, because everything happened a little too fast and there was a lot of telling instead of showing. From 90% until the end, my interest was back and the cliffhanger left me wanting more of Raven, Declan and the rest of the characters.

I’ve read a lot of NA and this is one of the better ones.
I’m definitely going to read the next book and I’m looking forward to it!

OH MY FREAKIN WOW!!! This book is SO FREAKIN AMAZING! I loved, loved, loved this book. The story line and the characters are absolutely perfect. Ahren sanders you are an awesome writer and storyteller. I fell instantly in love with Declan & Raven. The sexual chemistry between them is off the charts HOT! Ravens girl friends and Finn and the guys cracked me up. I laughed so hard I almost peed my pants. Lol. And at times I cried like a baby. I experienced such a plethora of emotions reading this book and I LOVED every minute of it.The secondary characters are such an escential part of bringing this story together. The friendships and family love for each other is so heartwarming. At times my heart literally ached. I can't wait for Surviving to come out. Please hurry Ahren. Lol. Thank You so much Ahren for writing such an amazing story and for sharing it with us. You are DA BOMB. Lol. I extremely recommend this bok to everyone.

A story of firsts...first love, first boyfriend, first rock band success. This is an emotional and heartfelt story full of the passion we all experienced when we first found love. The struggle to maintain a first relationship; the first time you made love; the first fight you had. If I sound nostalgic, it is because this book brings back memories our own life experiences.

The author has a straight forward writing style that reads as beautiful prose. She excels at describing with a few brushstrokes of her pen, the vibrancy of this love affair. The characters are so well defined I felt I was at their side as they experienced the ups and downs, as well as the complications, of real life situations.

I am looking forward to the sequel. I hope Ahren Sanders gifts us with a prompt publication of the sequel so we can find out what is in store for Raven and Declan.

This book was provided from the author for a honest review. I loved this book and can not wait for the next installment.

First, you have , Raven, a college student that runs in a "hot guy", Declan. He is a typical rocker that happens to be her new roommates brother. Raven has grown up not in a typical family. Dad has a security company that turns out to be more than that.

Then there is Finn, her brothers best friend that has cared for her, but she thinks only as a friend. You can tell in the story Finn deeply cares for her and Declan sees it too.

Raven and Declan fall for each other, but can him and his band hurt the relationship? There is a cliffhanger, but in all, this is a hot read....

This was an awesome book with a 5 star review!

Ok I received this book in return for an honest review, so here goes. This is a typical good girl meets bad boy in band story. BUT it has so much more to it. The book is full of characters who all intertwine with each other. All the characters are very well described enable you to build a good image to keep you going. I must admit at some times Declan was a little too sappy considering his bad boy background but I will forgive him coz he's cute. Raven very quickly fell into her new role as "girlfriend". There was a LOT of hot steamy sex. All in all and good read. I would definitely read more from this author. Thanks.

I had a real hard time thinking about how to write this review.I liked this book; I just didn't love this book. I can't pinpoint what it is about it that made me not connect, but I just couldn't. And I think that right there was my problem. There is nothing that rubbed me wrong or right. There were parts I really enjoyed, and parts that seemed to drag forever. Hence, the 3 rating.

One other thing- I really hated the Sparkle nickname. I could not see any man calling his girl Sparkle. I mean it seriously reminded me of a dog ... Or a stripper... I had to skip the name every time I saw it because I thought it was that ridiculous .

What a fantastic story this was.
345 pages of everything I love in a story. Lots of hot sexy men & gorgeous females mixed with a rock band made me think this book was kinda like other books I read... But I was so so wrong. This had so much more thrown in by this brilliant author.
So much was going on in this book yet the author made it so easy to follow. I was glued to this book from start to finish.
I've only got one complaint & that's the ending... I certainly didn't expect the cliff hanger that the author left me with. Having said that I highly recommend this book.

I relieved an ARC for an honest review. Wow. This is exactly the reason that I love being a part of the Goodreads community. I cannot believe this is the first book by the author. It was an awesome book. It has a little bit of everything if you enjoy contemporary romance-has it. Rock stars-check. Marines-check. Drama-check. Cannot wait for the next in the series. Definitely worth the time if this is your preferred genre. Thanks for allowing me to read your material. I am a fan.

At 25% of the story, I'm already satisfied with the story...I mean, it could end around 25% and I'd be fine with it!

I like the writing style, the characters and the flow of the story.

The novel is pretty packed, it's long but so worth my time.

I kind of just breeze through after the incident.
