Never Have I Ever: Punched my Roommate's V-Card Kindle Edition

4.3 4.3 out of 5 stars 2,310 ratings

Why can’t I stop thinking about my roommate after walking in on him “taking care of business?”

What should have been a humiliating experience for both of us ends up being the start of one of the best friendships I’ve ever had. Finn is smart, adorkable, and his shyness pushes all my buttons. The problem? My interest in him quickly shifts from friendship to something less than platonic. Feelings I’ve been pushing down for years bubble up to the surface, and I find myself unable to see him as just a friend, or keep my hands to myself.

When a night out leads to some extracurricular fun, Finn and I decide to have a no-strings-attached fling. He’s the perfect person to explore my bisexuality with, and our chemistry is off the charts. Finn might still have his V-Card, but he’s not inexperienced, and the more we’re together, the more we learn about ourselves.

Until it’s not enough.

I want him, and he wants me, but the idea of coming out terrifies me. Is Finn the person who can help me discover who I am? And can I get my head out of my a*s in time to prove to him I’m worth taking a chance on?

Beck and Finn’s story is a friends-to-lovers MM romance between roommates who discover that opposites really do attract. Expect super hot, slightly kinky encounters, a houseful of quirky college guys, and a ton of sweetness once this jock and nerd finally get on the same page. It is the first novel in the exciting new Never Have I Ever series but can be read as a standalone.

What can I say about myself? It’s kind of like being the new kid in school and being asked to tell everyone a bit about yourself. Anyone else forget everything they’ve ever liked, thought of, and even their name in those moments?

A few facts about me; I’m Canadian, and I love books! I’ve been writing my own stories since I was eight and wrote my first novel at sixteen. I’m the first to admit those attempts weren’t my best work, but they started me on a journey of creating stories that has led me to fulfilling my dream of becoming an author, and I’m so happy to be able to share my stories with people today.

I currently live on Canada’s east coast with my kiddo and my cat. I have a shoe collecting addiction, and I enjoy reading anything and everything I can get my hands on.

I lobed this book so much in its entirety. I brought back memories from my past and it was nostalgic.

So I’m docking a star on an otherwise great romance and start to a cool series which looking at the summaries is all about the roommates and the guys they end up with. Why am I docking a star? Because while I studied physics, and wanted to be an aeronautical engineer when I first went to college, I honestly do not want to read pages of science facts (I actively skipped those pages because I already took those classes in college) when I’m immersed in a rather fluffy “gosh I like guys” romance. Also, there were a few times when Finn’s internal dialogue was far more experienced than his V status implies and eh. Good imaginations and toys are a thing but there were times I went “ok but he said he’d never done it why is he talking like he has already?” I’m going to read more of the series because wheee the characters were cute and fun. I loved the roommates and best friends. I liked the club activities. I even liked how the boys looked out for the younger girls at the frat party even if I think the whole go to college and get sloppy drunk is way more dangerous that this book implies.

This book completely surprised me and in such a great way! I have been reading (binging) this genre for some time now and have read my way through a good number of authors and their works. This book, and Willow Dixon I venture, are worthy of every bit of time you spend enjoying the work!
The storyline is a bit familiar, but the characters are much more nuanced and fresh and interesting (and for sure loveable) than you will meet in many other books. The love and sexiness between Finn and Beck is awesome and inspiring and does not get too mired down for too long in self-doubt and/or angst. They work through their individual and joint challenges in seemingly “real-time” and the relationships with friends and familhy have a healthy mix of love and challenges and disappointments to keep it all feeling genuine.
I recommend this great book to young adults and older for sure and to anyone who knows or loves or tries to be there for a gay or bi or curious or confused person. It’s an enjoyable and identifiable story for all of us. Bravo, Willow Dixon!

First of all, I have to commend the author for a sharply immaculate manuscript; (almost) 100% typo and error free. I think I found only one instance of a sentence with a missing word. Well done. That earns 2 of my 3 stars!
Unfortunately, I can't say that I was as enamored with this book as the majority of my fellow readers.
Yes, the book is well written. No complaints there.
Yes, I enjoyed the engaging dialogue (which always makes a book come alive for me).
But, as I think back on the book as a whole, it seems to consist of nothing but physics lectures and bedroom shenanigans... Back to back and cover to cover. This stuff totally overpowers the underlying plot, which, right now, I couldn't even tell you what it was.

I found the character of Finn to be weirdly inconsistent. For someone who claimed to be a V he is astoundingly "experienced" and clued up on all the technicalities and techniques involving s#x, (particularly since he's only 20 yrs old)
Same goes for Beck actually. His transition from being "straight" to diving feet first into a man/man relationship was astonishingly easy.
His only hang-up seemed to be that he insisted on keeping it all a secret.

OK, all that has moved the plot along OK, and with zero drama or angst of any kind. But then, all of a sudden, the "kinks" come into play, almost as if the author was at a loss as to where to go from there in order to fill up her planned 300+ pages.
So from here onwards Finn & Beck's whole relationship is based on how exhibitionistic they can be (even though it's really all pseudo-exhibitionism).
This, which has the potential to be very exciting reading, just kind of fell flat and felt forced.
And then (drumroll) came the last chapter...
This, for me, was like someone had, at the end of an already unsatisfactory read, taken a pin to the balloon and just let all the air out. That introduction to more kinky stuff: handcuffs, bondage, filming, 'the swing'... whatever (all suggested since it was a wrap of the book) just made me roll my eyes and go "🙄 ahhrgh, what WTF NEXT? Give me a break!" (TIP: if you're going to even so much as suggest BDSM elements, put it in the blurb so there aren't any surprises)
It's a miracle I actually finished this book. It's unlikely that I'll try another by this author.
1 star for story/plot.
2 stars for editing and execution.

4.5⭐️

I picked this book up randomly and basically went in blind. This book did not disappoint.

I got some of my favorite things:
1) bi-awakening
2) friends to lovers
3) college roommates

What I loved about this story was the bi-awakening aspect. I thought it was done fairly well and I completely related to Beck when it came to finally accepting and acknowledging this part of him and who he was. I went through something similar to him growing up, always having these weird feelings for the same sex but just thought it was bc we were friends. That part of the book made me happy and feel seen.

The progressing relationship between Beck and Finn was the sweetest thing. They had an instant connection and their chemistry was off the charts. Honestly these two were meant to fall in love and create a life together. Yes the spice was amazing but I loved them go from friends to lovers a whole lot more. It made me so happy to see Finn stand up to his parents and finally live a life he deserves with the love of his life by his side.

I have to give a special shout-out to the most amazing brother Dex. He was Finns #1 supporter and was always in his corner when he needed him.

I will definitely be continuing this series

When a drinking game of Never have I ever gets you spill your secret and to get them attention of your roommate.
This story was really good I enjoyed and it still shows that to come out to people can still be scary even if we have come a long way.

This is the first book I have read of Willow Dixon. I wasn’t sure what to expect but I really liked it. Her writing style is easy to read, there was no angst in the third quarter, it was just devout their relationship growing and themselves getting over their own hang ups. Great MC development and secondary characters were interesting, ground work for future books was well laid out.

I am definitely going to read the next in the series.

I can tell you now - this book had me HOOKED! Some of the scenes were super spicy, and others were really sweet. It had the perfect balance of the two. I don't want to say much more otherwise I'll spoil it, but it definitely made a difference to my usual dark romance reads and this is definitely a must read!

Thus book was so sweet with almost no angst. The only thing I didn't enjoy was that the end seemed rushed. Like everything was all tied up within 3 or 4 pages.

Otherwise the steam levels were perfect and the chemistry between the mcs was obvious. Great read.
