Vampire Bound: Book One (The Last Vampire World 7) Kindle Edition

4.4 4.4 out of 5 stars 1,425 ratings

Become a bartender at The Vixen’s Den, they said.
The owner isn’t
really a vampire, they said.
It’ll be fun, they said.

And suddenly I’m neck deep in a world I’ve never really believed in, no matter what my crazy Great Aunt Mabel used to say.

Seriously, I have more than enough drama in my life already, without adding an irresistibly mesmerizing nightclub owner to the mix. My boss—a man with a penchant for trouble and the echo of tragedy lurking behind his dark gaze.

My new coworkers appear to be universally insane. My deadbeat ex is in trouble with a capital “T,” and if history is any indication, he’ll do his best to drag my son and me right along with him. In other news, I’m also being hounded by creditors who seem to think you can make money appear in someone’s bank account by threatening them over the phone.

(Though to be fair, if that approach worked, I’d be all for it. Spoiler alert—
it doesn’t.)

To top it all off, while my back was turned, I’ve somehow become a chess piece in a cold war between supernatural factions. Just because magic supposedly runs in my family doesn’t mean I know the first thing about Fae or demons or vampires or
any of this craziness.

But it looks like I’m gonna have to learn. Because now they’re coming after the thing I hold most dear — my son. And I’ll do
anything to get him back.

Watch out, paranormal world. Hell hath no fury like a mother’s wrath.

USA Today bestselling author R. A. Steffan lives in New Mexico, where the sunsets paint the mountains purple, and roadrunners roam the desert endlessly in search of their coyote victims. When she’s not busy writing stories about people loving each other in all sorts of different and interesting ways, she can be found taking care of her small menagerie of critters.

A rebel to the core, she is currently sticking it to the man by illegally harvesting graywater from the kitchen and bathroom sinks to water trees outside. This fearless disregard for societal norms extends to her writing, as well. There, you will find polyamory along with straight, gay, bisexual, and non-gender conforming love of all flavors. You will also find families of choice, profound friendships, adventure, danger, and good triumphing over evil.

That, and sex. Lots of sex. Most of which is not the vanilla variety.

The storyline moves effortlessly. There is a lot of dry humor, a romantic undercurrent, and the characters are amazing. The best compliment I can pay regarding any author's characters is, I want to meet these people.

After reading the last vampire series, I couldn’t resist this story. If you love vampire books like me, be sure to read this next segment and off shoot of the last vampire books. It’s intriguing, fast moving and so good.

The story was good enough, and the characters were interesting. There was some decent world building. I wouldn’t have bothered if I knew it was a cliffhanger.

I discovered the last vampire series by a happy accident and absolutely loved them! Then the shock and dread (avid readers will understand the dread) there is a sequel series and only one book is out 😱 It’s starting out to be a fun ride, super excited to see past characters! I’m counting down the days until the next book release. Until then, I think I’m going to check out other books by this author. If you are looking for a fun supernatural romance/action series I highly recommend this book and the prequel series the last vampire

Talk about being in the middle of the ocean and being hit by a train! This poor woman has that kind of luck. I really enjoyed the characters, even those a bit aloof, and the background action that is leading us to a fae-vampire showdown. The doormat actions of Vonnie that got her into the mess are quickly being corrected and I hope she becomes a powerhouse in the future. This was a good read.

Well this was quite the book! One of those where you can’t quite figure out where things are going so it keeps you in suspense till you get to the dreaded “cliffhanger “.
I did go ahead and order the follow up book but usually do not like cliffhangers. At least it wasn’t as bad as some and it is a very good story. I just hope the 25th comes pretty fast!
It is a good story though and I am sure lots of readers will really enjoy it.

...I made it to Chapter 4 before I already couldn't stand it anymore...Maybe because if the ratings of the story weren't so over the top, I would have went onn and give it a try..But honestly the rating compared to the actual quality feels like fraud and totally kills my urge to finish

This book has the beginnings of a great series. Humorous and Captivating. Not only do we have the Mysterious Vampire, Evil Fae, Intriguing characters, Vonnie May just have something magical in her too. Not to mention the simmering attraction.
Can’t wait to find out what happens next.

4.0 out of 5 stars Surprisingly good read.

I picked this book up because I read the blurb on Facebook. The sentence structure and style of writing appeals to me. I downloaded and started reading and didn't put that book down until it was finished. The characters are interesting and slowly but well developed. Leonidas and Vonnie are the main characters and I just enjoyed both. There is a slow build up of their interest in each other around the developing plot which seems to leave the reader more invested in their lives. Enjoyed the book very much and plan to get the whole series as the novels are published. It's one of those rare books these days where I don't find the story is tedious and the sex predictable (not in variety but in repetition ). I did NOT peek at the ending while in the middle to see if the novel was worth reading. It's not 5 stars for 2 reasons, this is basically a serial story about the main characters so there is always going to be a cliffhanger presented after the story should be complete (I suspected this because of the pace at which the story progresses and because there was no burst of light attraction between the main characters that immediately sent them into a predictable storm of passion). The second reason there is no 5th star is that I do not like stories written in the 1st person. However these 2 points aside, I recommend very highly that anyone set aside a few hours and read this story from start to finish, no,peeking at the last page.

4.0 out of 5 stars Interesting Start To A New Series
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on March 29, 2020
This is sort of a new chapter rather than the start of a new series. The series features characters and continuation of events from The Last Vampire series with focused on Zorah and Ran. They are in this series but as supporting characters rather than main ones.

Vonnie is a single mother with a 14 year old son (she’s 30). Her dead beat ex has been borrowing money from the mob and then not paying it back. They have been chasing Vonnie for the money and she has ended up working a phone sex operator, but that money is still not enough. Her first job as an escort brings her to a club and a handsome man, Leonides is her first client. Only he’s not just a man, but a vampire and it seems she is resistant to being mind controlled, so she remembers him and the fae he argued with. He ends up offering her a job behind the bar and she takes it, with relief. She doesn’t know this will bring her even further into the supernatural world.

If you haven’t read the first series, this one still makes sense. I like Vonnie a lot as she is determined to look after her son, after an error of judgment when she was a teenager meant she selected a rubbish partner for her first attempt at sex. She was now stuck dealing with a dreamer who has no grasp on reality of idea of consequences, or that other people may end up paying the price for his mistakes. She adores her son and it seems that this is reciprocated by her son.

I also really like Leonides. He’s reserved and contains his emotions behind a high wall. However, he is compassionate and protective of his people and is always rescuing those in need.

There is an attraction between Vonnie and Leonides, but both seem scared to act on it. It creates a tension between them, but doesn’t stop their growing mutual respect either.

This is a complicated plot and I think it will get more complicated, but each strand is handled in a straight forward manner, so you don’t get overwhelmed with all the information. I really enjoyed this book and look forward to the next book in the series coming out in June 2020.
