Best Handheld Emulator I Have Purchased, but Set-Up Can Be a Challenge
I hesitated on getting the Retroid Pocket 3 knowing that I would have to configure everything myself. I have a variety of the handhelds running the stock SD cards. I had also started saving ROMS on one of my laptops with the idea to expand the Dreamcast library on a few devices. Well I got the RP3 and started to set it up and did everything wrong out of the gates. I then referenced a set up video and corrected my mistakes which required a factory reset. I loaded a BIOS pack and got Retroarch loaded and configured. I now need to research cores and continue downloading ROMS, which right now is very annoying as I can only do one at a time. I need to find files that have libraries of ROMS that I can download. I am about 50% to the goal. I did find a workaround that will allow you to play a lot NES, SNES, GBA and N64 games via the Google Store (check the screenshots).

After my PowKiddy X18 broke, I have been researching handheld retro devices like a madman. I wanted to get a powerful device while still staying within a budget price. Time and time again, the Retroid Pocket 3 proved to be the most powerful, versatile, and quality device that you can buy around the $150 price point.

At first, because this listing had only 1 review on it, I was concerned that it might be a scam. However, it turns out that I needn't have been concerned at all--I got my RP3 yesterday, and it was exactly as advertised. I received it within days of ordering, instead of having to pay $30+ for shipping and waiting for weeks or months after ordering it from the Retroid website.

I spent most of last night happily loading up a 128 GB SD card with emulators and games. The RP3 can emulate any retro console up through Nintendo 64, PSP, and Dreamcast without any problems. It can even run some GameCube and PlayStation 2 games (but do not be deceived--most GC and PS2 games will not run well on this device).

Be aware, however, that this is an Android device, and will require some setup in order to get emulators and games installed and running. If you know your way around Android-based retro emulation (especially using RetroArch), then the RP3 should cause you no problems. If you are looking for a retro handheld that you can pick up and play right out of the box, I suggest you look elsewhere.

If you're looking for a powerful, budget-friendly retro gaming handheld, and don't mind installing and tinkering to get the best performance, look no further than the Retroid Pocket 3.

This emulator is a very good purchase for those who want the buttons to push while playing old school games. I used emulators on my android but it wasn't the same as having actual button to push. This is solves that issue and you can pause whatever game you're playing lock the screen then come back once you get free time. I love that! I use it when I have down time at work and if my supervisor comes in while I am playing the game then I push two buttons, shove it in my pocket, then I get to work. Getting rims on this handheld was the hardest part but there are so many walk throughs for this, it makes it easy to do. After that but, then you get to enjoy playing old school games! I am going to upgrade the internals to the Retroid 3 plus very soon! This company sells internal parts so you are able to fix what mught break over time. It is very durable, as I have dropped it a few times with no issues. I am a mechanic and keep it in my pocket 80 percent of the time unless I am dealing with fluids. I have no issues at all! Highly recommend this to anyone! Great to pass the time, even if it is just 10 minutes. Pause, turn the screen off, then continue once you get time again! Battery life is very very good btw!

The Retroid Pocket 3 is a finicky device that requires a lot of configuration to get "right."
Once you get the settings dialed in though, it's a joy to use.

It emulates all the way up to N64 without issue. It can do "some" Gamecube, PS2, and Wii; but I wouldn't buy it counting on that. Kirby's Return to Dreamland is stuttery (even after optimizing the settings) but playable. Dolphin has a weird glitch requiring that you clear the cache manually before each launch (otherwise your Wii games will boot to a black screen). Mario Kart Double Dash has painfully inconsistent framerates. I have the resolution turned down to "yuck" levels, and it's just barely playable.

Emulation aside, this thing is an absolute joy to use with game streaming.

Xbox Game Pass works extremely well on this. GeForce Now works well, but lately I haven't been able to get on lately since the servers are too busy (free tier - paid tier is probably fine). Steam link is also great (except for on non-Steam games), but I've had some issues with Moonlight. Moonlight works well 2/3 of the time, but I'll often get messages about turning down bitrate due to a bad connection (Moonlight on my Smart TV works just fine on the same internet connection).

I wish that I'd gotten the 3+ to get more RAM, a faster CPU, and more stable GameCube and Wii performance; but overall I'm happy with my purchase.

The RP3 is an excellent device if you can get it while it's on sale. The sale going on right now, along with the $10 coupon, and the $6 rewards, all brings this down to about $104.

The processor is a T310, so you can get a lot of performance out of it. Dreamcast and PSP run well, and you can get a tiny smidgen of Gamecube or PS2 running, as long as you temper your expectations.

The ergonomics are decent. The edges are softly curved, the shoulder buttons are stacked, and the size is just right. But, it's not perfect - the flat back is okay, the sticks are joycon sized, and the triggers are great for retro stuff but pretty meh for modern games you might stream to it.

This is not a you for a kid. This takes some coding and time to set up and get working. It can be an amazing emulator, but you have to have the skill to do it or the patience to learn. I love mine. I have all my favorite games from my childhood on one device. I can get it to play all the way up to Wii games, so this a really cool emulator.

but I was wrong, it does not work very well they're so many glitches and problems with the emulators.
and the controls do not work very well with your fingers.
I was ripped off and scammed out of my amazon gift code claim credits.

Me costó $3150
