Picture is ~5/8 thick sapele. Tried using the 1/2" cutter to plug the hole I drilled with a 1/2" forstner. Very sloppy fit. Not to mention these brand new cutters cut extremely poorly - they bind and smoke and ultimately bog down my drill press. Happened with both the sapele and some much softer cedar.

Cuts a long non-tapered plug. That said, even in a drill press, the straight cutters cut unevenly. The bore of the tool is uneven once past the cutting edge ring at the bottom of the tool. Relatively low quality. If you need fillers it is fine, but if you want quality straight plugs, look elsewhere.

The plugs are slightly oversize (e.g. the 3/8 plug doesn't fit in a 3/8 hole) to the point that the holes need to be oversized. Otherwise you'll snap the plug trying to get it in and miss your grain match. For quick, non critical work, these are fine. For high-end projects, buy good cutters.

Both sets of these plug cutters are cheaply made from soft metal. They are dull with un sharpened cutting edges. Luckily I have a grinder and can sharpen them myself but will not hold the sharpness for long due to soft material. I don't recommend to purchase these sets of plug cutters.
