Product Description
IMPECCABLE COLOR
More accurate color and a broader contrast ratio combine to deliver truly high-end picture quality. High dynamic range (HDR) makes bright and dark portions of the image even more so, while Nano IPS controls color better, covering 98% of the DCI-P3 color space with support for 1.07 billion colors, the digital film industry standard, 35% larger than the sRGB 100%. Nanometer-sized particles on the screen's LED absorb excess light wavelengths, realizing richer color expression that accurately reproduces the content, from actual images and videos to CG.
CLEARER and BRIGHTER HDR
Discover a more lifelike picture with high dynamic range, which provides bolder contrast between the brightest and darkest areas of the screen. This VESA Certified HDR 600 monitor has been rated to deliver impressive peak luminance of 600 nits for undeniably spectacular highlights.

It is not the fault of the display, but I will note that if you connect this display to a DisplayPort on an eGPU on a Mac, it will not let you select correct scaled display ratios even though the correct ratios are options when you use thunderbolt directly. using an eGPU on a windows laptop works fine, so this is an AMD display driver issue on macOS at least through all versions of Catalina.
But the Mac's own screen has 218 pixels per inch (ppi)—a Retina display. I actually bought two other 34" monitors before finding this LG, and returned them both....because their resolution was 109 ppi! HALF the clarity. Text looked blurry! There's no way I could tolerate that after getting used to the MacBook Pro screen.
This one has 163 ppi, which makes a HUGE difference. Text and graphics are RAZOR sharp. Colors and brightness are phenomenal. I haven't had any of the sleep/discovering-the-Mac issues described in the other reviews.
This is the ONLY ultrawide monitor, made by ANY company, with 163 ppi. I'm thrilled. I could stare at it all day (and will).
The speakers sound muddy, so be prepared for that. And I wish there were more than 2 USB jacks on the back; to accommodate my microphone, camera, Bluetooth mouse receiver, card reader, and backup drive, I've had to buy a USB dock to occupy one of those jacks.
Otherwise, though, this is pure visual heaven.

The color as well was muted, lifeless, text was wooly. I tried the various settings, downloaded the “latest” software which was no newer than that on the included CD. Nothing helped the resolution or the color. I hired a tech; he couldn’t improve its performance either.
As it turns out the monitor fell in price two days after I purchased it. LG may know it needs to start from scratch with its 5K entry. I bought an LG 32” 4K from a local retailer. Great color, perfect resolution, better form factor, easy return.
-NOT Curved, which honestly is better for me, looks more professional on desk but I do catch myself turning my head more.
-SHARP SHARP SHARP The screen has the highest pixel density you can realistically get outside of the Apple World. It's ALMOST Retina quality.
-Resolution? Did I already mention how sharp the screen is? Not only is it sharp you can fit a ton of windows on screen at the same time.
CONS:
EXTREMELY SEVERE BURN IN ISSUES. I'm talking about leave your mouse in the same spot for more than a minute and boom burn in. It happens so fast it's annoying and I will probably return this before my window is up unless I can figure out if I can update firmware or have LG help.
I am not exaggerating how bad the burn in on this is. THE ONLY reason I have not sent it back is because shutting the monitor off overnight fixes most of it.
Build Quality: Feels okay for the deal I got, but if paid full price I would not accept the all plastic build.
Update: ran a burn in remover video and it helped and changed some settings has improved the issue. This screen is the only one with such a high resolution. Available at this size so trade off is acceptable
Oh and there's no power button. "It's magic" I'm sure some LG marketing rep said. So just like how it struggles to sync on Thunderbolt, I've found it's non-functional on DVI from a Windows laptop because again, the laptop times out before the monitor gets around to being ready. Again, this price, and this mature of a technology shouldn't leave me fiddling with it.
