For those unfamiliar with the series, Shin Megami Tensei V is a JRPG set in a post-apocalyptic world where demons roam free. As the protagonist, you have the ability to recruit and fuse these demons to your party, adding an element of strategy to the gameplay. The combat system is turn-based, but it's far from boring. Each demon has its own set of strengths and weaknesses, and knowing which demons to use against specific enemies is crucial to success.
The graphics in this game are simply stunning. The world is beautifully rendered, and the character designs are top-notch. The soundtrack is also excellent, with each track perfectly setting the mood for each area of the game.
One thing that sets Shin Megami Tensei V apart from other JRPGs is its mature themes. The game deals with complex issues such as morality, religion, and the consequences of human actions. It's refreshing to play a game that doesn't shy away from these topics.
Overall, I highly recommend Shin Megami Tensei V to any fan of the series or to anyone looking for a challenging and thought-provoking JRPG. The Steelbook Launch Edition is a must-have for collectors, but even if you don't care about the steelbook, the game itself is worth every penny.
You're the only human on your team - everyone else is demons you recruit, train, and then use as summoning fodder when their power starts to drop off. It makes for a great battle system.
Five stars for the game, it's a masterpiece. For those on the fence - if you like Persona, you'll like this, if you hated Persona's battle system, you'll hate this. If you're unsure, give it a try - it's a fantastic game, and a new Shin Megami only comes out every 10 years, so you've got awhile to wait
I was very nervous if it was going to be or not. To add, was afraid that it wasn't going to arrive/deliver either. Some people's orders on Amazon were canceled and or delayed to the extreme having other waiting on their game even though they pre-ordered ahead of time.
Way ahead of time for most. My Fiancé pre-ordered for me last month as a late birthday gift for me and a couple weeks ago it was asking for an approval on PC... or it was going to cancel. So I did that then it shows it'll update to me on an estimated delivery date. Then I finally ended up getting it. Played it as soon as I got it for a little bit. I do enjoy it. I hope everyone else receives their game and undamaged....

The sidequests actually manage to breathe a lot of life into an otherwise unassuming world, as most of the interesting stuff in the game's story happens outside the small chunk of the timeline that are the events of the game. This game would have honestly been a 3 or 2 if it weren't for the quests, because the basic "rushing" story experience is difficult and boring. I expect that most fans of typical JRPGs are out of their depth just because of how instead of relying on story with constant drama and cliffhangers to keep a player engaged, it solely relies on gameplay and lore as the main appeal.
I would recommend it to any one who is a fan of RPGs (one word of advice if this is your first SMT I would not recommend playing on hard)

First of all, the steelbook is beautiful. And for the game itself, it does justice for the great reviews and reccomendantions it has gotten. I'm only a few hours in but I'm really enjoying it so far.
