THE STORY OF THE UNIMOG

Make your dream of owning your own Unimog come true

This has been our dream for many years. The idea of building your own little Unimog that is fully functional yet also absolutely true to the original. In recent years, we have been able to meet many technical challenges, such as developing a fully hydraulic Palfinger loader crane. Even we thought this was simply impossible a few years prior. That gave us the courage to start the UNIMOG project.

The Unimog is a vehicle that has always set its own standards. To achieve the ambitious goals we set for this particular project, we were unable to use a single component from existing assemblies. This resulted in us having to develop and manufacture all parts from scratch. We needed 2 years of development to come close to the perfect little Unimog.

Our in-house Development department initially created the first Unimog on paper using the latest design technology, followed by numerous prototypes in various scales.

After many discussions with experts, connoisseurs and aficionados of the Unimog, we decided in favor of the all-terrain Unimog of the 437 series.

Below is an overview of the technical details of the Unimog 437 series:

Overall Length 415 mm
Wheelbase 243 mm
Height 200 mm
Width 180 mm
Ground Clearance 38 mm
Weight (ready to drive) approx. 5,200 g

Pushing Boundaries, Setting Standards

ScaleART Unimog
True to the original: The chassis of the ScaleART UNIMOG

Four-wheel drive and great torsional flexibility give the robust commercial vehicle a winning edge on rough terrain. These and more are features that are attested to in the great original, but what about the “small” original?

We put a lot of thought into making sure that the little Unimog is in no way inferior to its bigger brother and to make it fit for any tasks it is faced with.

We designed parted such as portal axles with differential locks or the unique frame concept on a small scale that are true to the original. In addition, the Unimog can be equipped with fully functional hydraulics that generate a working pressure of approx. 20 bar (!).

The model also has a complete lighting system with additional lighting components, such as flashing lights, work lights, etc. as a matter of course.

We realized that the engine sound and operating noises should not be missing either. For this reason, the original driving noises have been digitized and the little Unimog reproduces them via a mini speaker built into the exhaust.

ScaleART Unimog 437 - Axle suspension with push tube

Axle suspension with push tube Connecting the axles to the transmission with a push tube and push ball, made it possible to achieve an angle of up to 30°.

ScaleART Unimog 437 - High ground clearance thanks to the portal axle

High ground clearance thanks to the portal axle Special design – the portal axis This special construction makes high ground clearance possible. That’s perfect for the Unimog. High-quality gear wheels made of hardened steel; housing parts milled from solid aluminum.

ScaleART Unimog 437 - Powerful transmission

Powerful transmission Three-speed manual transmission with built-in distributor for switching to front-wheel drive and ball flanges to accommodate the thrust tubes. The 34-watt bell armature motor from Faulhaber offers low power consumption and sensitive steering.

The possibilities are endless

BUILD YOUR OWN SCALEART UNIMOG

Those looking for a very special experience can purchase the Unimog as a high-quality metal kit. The kit lets you assemble a Unimog from the 437 series according to the instructions. The included driver’s cab is available in 6 original Unimog colors, which are applied using the powder coating process.

The drive train is a real eye-catcher thanks to the original metal housing of the drive shafts, the transmission, and thrust tubes. The six-hole aluminum rims, turned from a solid mold, with on- and off-road tires put the Unimog on the road. With the right expansion packages for drive, light, and sound as well as hydraulics, you can breathe life into your own Unimog.

For those who prefer to fall back on a fully assembled model, you can be sure that our model construction specialists will build your Unimog with nothing but passion. Whether fully functional with drive technology, the electronics that reproduce light and sound true to the original, and a mini-hydraulic system, or as a collector’s model without functions for the model showcase, the possibilities are limitless.

ScaleART Gruppenbild
A strong team: ScaleART Model Manufactory

For more than 20 years, we have been passionate about designing and manufacturing unique, high-quality, and fully functional truck and construction machinery models that are as individual as you are. Products from a single source made by hand: Concept workshop, design, production and distribution.

Each ScaleART model is unique, which is built exactly according to our customers’ wishes, whether collectors, model builders, freight forwarders, building contractors, or even for the original manufacturer. We deliver these high-quality models from our model making factory worldwide. Every single model carries the label for quality “Made in Germany” because we take great pride in that fact that production is done in our homeland.

In the 20 years of our work, we have been able to develop such extensive know-how in the areas of construction, miniature drive technology, hydraulics, and electronics that our models enjoy the international reputation of being unique and absolutely incomparable.

One truly unique selling point we would especially like to point out is that we manufacture more than 85% of all parts in-house. This also includes the extremely complex topic of remote control technology, which is 100% designed and developed by ScaleART. The same statement applies to the entire ScaleART team: We don’t see this as just our job—it’s a passion that shapes our work and drives us.
