4 Lucky Stars ⭐

In Missing in Action, we get the story of two unlikely men that couldn’t be more perfect at healing each other.

After returning from a failed mission, Wes Halsted is in a bad way. Not only is his body all torn up, his thoughts are in chaos. Now he's housebound at his brother’s home surrounded by far too many family members and memories he’s not willing to explore. And to add insult to injury, this hero who could survive many forms of torture, still can’t verbalise his biggest secret.

"I was lucky. Lucky to be alive, lucky to have people who gave a shit about me.

I was lucky, even if I was thirty-six years old, missing a spleen, and still in the closet."

While slowly going insane, Wes hadn’t expected to find an intriguing man standing in his brother’s kitchen. One far too enticing not to approach. Tom Esbeck, a gorgeous specimen so refined and irresistible, that Wes is desperate to get to know him.

Tom may appear to be meticulous, but the outside doesn’t reflect the truths inside. He is a man emotionally disheartened and in self-preservation mode. And if he lowered his guard, the beast in front of him would pretty much sum up his fantasy and make him want to break one of his many rules.

"For some people, affection wasn't a language but a currency, and I'd always realized it too late—when I'd been used, forgotten, brushed aside."

Where Tom is steadfast in the way he plans out his life, being with a man such as Wes is completely out of character. Because falling in love with a man that hasn't accepted himself is a sure path to heartache.

I always enjoy any book by this author. Ms Canterbury's stories are effortless to read and wonderful. Relationships are beautifully written with characters that are flawed, real and brilliant. You're missing out if you've not experienced her works.

"I want to be the man who gets to love you, Tom. I want that job. I want the right to call you mine and I want to be yours, and I want to do this with you."

I want to be the man who gets to love you …
I want that job. I want the right to call you mine and I want to be yours, and I want to do this with you.”

If you're a fan of character driven romance, this one is truly cream of the crop. This is only my second book by Kate, but I can safely say that the woman knows how to write some of the most multilayered characters I've ever read.

Wes is a covert agent who's currently recovering from an almost lethal injury after his op went bad. His job is all he's ever known. He's used to the shadows and the secrecy that comes with his daily life, and now being normal is a struggle. Being around his happily married and meddling brother is another struggle. But worst of all, it's his sister in law's incredibly handsome business associate that's the problem, because he wants him beyond reason.

Tom is the definition of buttoned up. His life is all about order, where Wes is pure chaos. Tom has everything planned from his days to his meals, and he doesn't deviate. Their attraction is instant, and their connection is the definition of opposites attracting. The story is a slow burn romance that peels back the layers on both of these characters, and they have many layers. Tom may be all about order in his life, but that doesn't mean his life has been perfect. How can he be with a man that makes it clear he has no intention of staying? Wes is a man that's struggling with what his new normal may be when he comes to terms that his covert career may be blown to smithereens.

I really enjoyed the story, though admittedly, I did skim a bit through parts. I like a good character driven story, but I was bored in some parts. Luckily the story does come together beautifully, and I can happily say that I enjoyed it quite a bit,

I waited one full day to get my thoughts together to write this review and I am sure I will not do it justice, but here it goes.

Many readers have asked this author about the ever elusive Wes Halsted. We all fell in love with Tom Esbeck, I mean how could you not, he is Shannon Walsh's right hand person. I would have been okay if the author never written this book, but like many would have always wondered, what if these two characters could somehow come together, it would make a great story. But, you can't ever rush an artist to create art or words that the characters won't share. I respect that. Wes would not talk! Damn him and his stubborn ways, but Tom, he had lots to say and here we are with Missing in Action.

Now if you have been following this author and you read Thresholds, that was some kind of cliffy she left us. Of course, the grabby hands wanted more, again, I was okay if she left us hanging, it's all good. But damn it in the back of my mind was hoping against all hope she would get Wes out of that nun's outfit and bring him to Boston. Here we are 15 months later or so and we have Wes's and Tom's love story and boy you are so not ready.

Wes comes back alright, with a mission gone terribly wrong and wounds that will take months to heal and enter the hot preppy dude to keep Wes company. We get an emotional love story of healing, emotional obstacles, Monday morning Walsh meetings, Shannon and Will, even Judy and the Commodore, heck Kaisal and April make an appearance. At the end we get a beautiful story of two stubborn men meant for each other.

Yes, it took some time for Wes to come home, just like Erin, but he did and upon much reflection and possibly some sun burn (when you read the book, you will understand), we get a beautifully written love story. Oh man and there's a wedding and possible shenanigans, but I will let you judge for yourself.

If you are a fan of Ms. Walsh and have been waiting for Wes's story and you're stuck at home due to the pandemic, one-click and enjoy this book.

Mission Accomplished!
Missing in Action was more than I could have ever wished for Wes and Tom's story to be, but exactly what they were meant to have. This story like all of Ms. Canterbary's books is intillectual, filled with an array of family dynamics, emotional, and invigorating.

Wes and Tom. Where do I even begin...these two men are exquisitely skilled and sexy. They are fun and passionate and comforting. Their love progresses at breakneck speed yet it's cautious and thoughtful. Unfolding in a labyrinth of internal doubts and vulnerability. The sexytimes are deliciously dirty and downright ravishing.

Wes is lost, lonely and conflicted. He is at a crossroads and he doesn't know who he is without a cover or a mission. The only place he can breath and just be is with Tom.

Tom is a force in and of himself. But would we expect anything less from someone that Shannon has taken under her wing? His choices are intentional and aimed at emotional health, especially those regarding relationships. Wes is definitely not in his plans. He is a risk. But you know what they say...no risk, no reward.

I can't effectively describe how brilliant this book was to experience. All I can say is that I am still in a Wes and Tom haze of glory. They set my body on fire, lit my soul with joy, and made my heart beat stronger.

Oh, my heart! I have been through the gamut of emotions in this book. Laughing at Shannon Halstead, as she delivers her infamous one-liner comebacks, at her daughter emulating her mother so darn well, and observing the Walshes be, well, the Walshes and crying at lives laid out for me in this book. Lives that took time to grow into, and it wasn't a smooth growth.

Tom is far sassier than I remember him being, and thank goodness for that. He is full of so much sass. No wonder Tom is as close to Shannon as he is, he's got micromanaging on lockdown. Plus, he can appease Patrick and keep all the assistants from quitting (and keep the copier working). He's an impeccable dresser (I'm surprised he and Sam aren't fighting over who is the best dresser), and even matches his underwear to his outfits. Get out of town!! Who does that?? Such a match for Wes, literally the spy who came in from the cold. (Yeah I caught that--and he was in Russia). Wes, the wearer of hoodies and jeans. He was wounded inside and out. I swear at times I felt like their story was a Smith's playlist (but then again I really dig the Smith's), so many feelings to work through.

For both of them, it was painful growth beyond pain, fear, and lack of trust. It was both of them being brave, which is scary, really scary. There's so much I could say, but I can't because a massive part of the beauty of this book is watching Wes and Tom fall into lust, then fall in love, and then fall into each other. Kate, can we continue to have side journeys into the land of Walsh so that we can keep up with all these people we love?

This book....it really took me places. Fun places to visit old characters I love. Sexy, hot, dirty places where showers were defiled and lamps were broken. And vulnerable places where lonely boys had to figure out who they are when their life gets turned upside down. The characters surprised me and were a bit unexpected which I loved. I simply couldn’t put the book down because I was so invested in this relationship. This story was a long time coming and it did not disappoint. A fantastic and emotional journey. Loved Wes + Tom so much.

Spoilers ahead

As a fan of the Walsh series I was utterly delighted to finally get Wes' story with our very own Tom. So quickly.........

Tom went through a lot as a youth when his mother tried to convert him out of being gay
Wes was still partially in the closet until he came out to his parents, given how long he delayed this I'd expected a much bigger deal to be made of it than actually happened. I know his dad mellowed out but I expected a heart to heart at least
Well written, delicious sexy times coupled with appearances by the Walshes especially Will and Shannon and darling Abby made this book a treat for me

No cheating
No OM drama

Oh man, Writer Lady has done it again! Get your tissues ready and be prepared for one amazing journey as you read this.

I've always wanted to get a story for Wes and one for Tom, I never thought they'd be one story though. Their story was absolutely everything. I loved it from start to finish. You get a good dose of all our favorite Walshes and you can't help but love the story even more because of that.

You get to see Shannon and Will in their element. You want to smack Wes at times, but all of that makes you love him even more. You see the complete picture of Tom and your heart can't help but hurt for what he's been through, bu swell at how far he has come.

These two are stronger because of each other. Their story is one you didn't know you needed until you read it. I didn't know I needed these two together until I read it and I honestly can't wait to read it again.

Well worth the wait for Wes! So many thoughts and excitement around Wes’ book! I don’t know where to begin. We’ve been waiting for Wes to come home and he finally has. Kate is amazing at her character development and Wes and Tom are no different. It feels like we get even more with Wes and Tom. They both have pasts that have shaped them into the men that they are. They are in different worlds but meant for each other if they can overcome their life obstacles. I loved getting to see snippets of other Walshes and of course Shannon and Will. Kate continues to give us wonderful growly alpha boys, Missing in Action gives us double!!

This book everything I'd hoped for and SO MUCH more than I could've ever imagined.  Not only is it beautifully written, but it's filled with all the things this author is known for…family dynamics (good and bad), shenanigans, facts about topics that just make you feel smarter, witty banter, sexiness and steaminess, chemistry that leaps off the page, and so much love of all types.

Both of these characters have so much depth to them. Some aspects you expect, then the next page you are seeing a different side of both of them that just makes you fall in love with them even more. You feel what they are going through right along with them. You will just want to hug their raw and vulnerable side, and help them fight their demons. You'll go through so many emotions in this book in the best possible way. From laughter to tears with some hot sexy times and suspense thrown in. This book is brilliant and everything you could possible want.

This book is Walsh-adjacent. Don’t let that discourage you…this is a complete standalone. You do not need to have read the other books. The appearance of previous characters only revolves around this storyline. You won't be lost, I promise. After you read this I do encourage you to go back and read that series though if you haven't, it's really good. If you've read the Walsh series all of your favorites will make an appearance. You'll feel like you are experiencing something new while being wrapped in the comforts of home with the Walsh/Halstead family.

This is one of the books where I wish I could give it more than 5 stars. You need this book in your life. You need both Wes and Tom in your life. You need this author in your life.

This book can be read as a stand-alone. Therefore I’ll try to give my opinion without any reference to other Kate Canterbary’s books.

First, it’s an extraordinary story. I think it was Jean Renoir who said that what mattered was the story. Therefore if you only need one reason to read this book, you have it there.

Then, there’s also the way it is told. I am usually not into first-person writing. Often, I have trouble entering the protagonist’s mind. Here, I was right away into Tom and Wes’s head. Maybe because of the precision of the words, the perfect pace. Although it’s not a spy novel, I loved that I felt it wasn’t just a decor for the romance. I’m sure not a spy specialist, but Kate Canterbary makes sure that you feel that she does know what she is writing about, and my critical mind doesn’t have to wonder. Whatever the reason, all the emotions were felt from inside my guts, and, as I’m not a writer, I don’t have the terms to explain it. If you’ve never read a book by this author, just try.

You’ll also want to read this character-driven story because it isn’t like any regular romance book, you know, the naive girl-next-door falling for the hot billionaire alpha male. Not only because it’s an M/M romance, but because both characters have strong complex personalities. They have a very complicated past, and they are figuring out how to enter a long term relationship with it.

Readers have been asking for Wes for years. Tom has always been family. I didn’t know that I needed this book. A CIA operative with sad eyes, and stupid muscles. And Tom. A vest wearing, meal prepper who needs order and control. A man after my own heart. Wes and Tom have struggles that are specific to same sex relationships. Yet they are so relatable because many of the things they need to work through and deal with are “people problems”. I love this couple. M/M storylines aren’t my go to. However, Kate Canterbary always is. You can trust her. Enjoy!

Given all the craziness going on in the world right now, this long-awaited book could not have arrived at a better time for me.

Having met Wes and Tom in prior books, albeit briefly, it was lovely to really get to know them here. I think what I enjoyed the most was that I’ll admit I came into this with some preconceived ideas on these characters yet KC blew me away. Both Wes and Tom were simultaneously exactly what I was expecting and yet totally unexpected in so many (great) ways.

As always, KC’s writing is on a level I don’t often get to encounter. It is witty, well-honed and viscerally real. Nothing seems forced or contrived. These are real people, living real lives and having real conversations with each other.

In addition to Wes and Tom’s story, there are appearances by much-loved characters from prior books. And although this can easily be read as a stand-alone, I will offer the advice I always proffer when recommending Kate Canterbary’s books to those who aren’t familiar with her work: Read this now! (But then go read ALL her other books ASAP - you’ll thank me later!).

This was one of my most anticipated reads of 2020 and it did not disappoint one bit. When we meet Wes, former Navy SEAL and covert agent extraordinaire, his latest mission has gone horribly awry, resulting in the exposure of several undercover agents and him being tortured and wounded before making his escape. Now back in States and recovering at his brother's house, Wes's whole life is in limbo while he awaits his fate to be decided by his employer, until he meets a man very much in control of his own life. Tom is organised, decisive, and in charge of every single aspect of his daily life, and the handsome, closeted soldier asking to spend time with him is exactly what he doesn't need in his life right now. But the more time they spend together, the more they begin to heal each other in ways they never knew they needed. The chemistry between the leads is palpable on every single page, but it is the emotional development of the characters that took my breath away. Simply wonderful cover to cover!

4 stars story. This story totally took me by surprise. I didn't expect to enjoy it as much as I did. I was impressed with how the MCs first met and "connected". I thought it was going to be full of sarcasm and snark, but it wasn't. I wish the book was longer to make up for the first 20% of blah.

I hate to be repetitive but I’m a reader, not an author, so maybe I have a good excuse. Anyway, I say this after I finish reading (or listening to) every book written by Kate but I just can’t help it!! Her books check all my boxes. Witty banter. Amazing characters. A family that I sometimes wish was mine. My IQ jumps a few points because of the things I learn from Kate’s writing (my family says I’m a font of useless information. I think I just have an affinity for interesting topics.) All the feels and all the happy ever after a that my romantic heard needs. Did I mention the characters??

Things occurred to me as I read MIA. Lauren has always been who I want to be when I grow up. Shannon has always been the badass that I think I am in my head (but I’m really not) and Tiel has always been the one I can relate to the most. But Tom..he’s just ME. Except for the meal prepping and healthy eating crap. “I should've stayed home tonight, drinking my calories and watching serial killer documentaries under my weighted blanket." Same, Tom, same.

If you’ve read Kate’s other books in the Walsh series then you know that Tom and Wes have always been on the periphery. Just waiting for their turn. Well, they got their turn and it was AMAZING! I loved Tom’s strength and his vulnerability and Wes’ journey to discover his true self. I loved seeing my Walsh family friends and checking in with them. If you are looking for a beautiful love story, then look no further.

PS As with all of Kate’s other books, I highlighted the hell out of this book.

PSS Out of the mouth of babes, “Give loves.” ❤️

I could have rated this 4 stars but I wanted to rate based off the overall story and not how much i loved Tom and Wes so here it goes:
saw someone saying Tom was annoying and i want to address that first, yes he is but he also feels very real. He isn’t some hot shot athlete and he isn’t a millionaire or a homeless in-debt twink waiting to be rescued. I loved his troubles and how he dealt with his attachment issues and how he knew what he wanted, how he was strong to stand by what he knew what was right for him. So character-wise i respected the hell out of Tom and i felt for wes, he was a character coming in hot for your empathy and he could get it out of u.
There wasn’t much of a story going on, the story was about Wes and Tom getting to know and accept each other and as a person who is far more interested in characters than stories i didn’t mind this at all.
The only complaint that i can have was the ending feeling rushed but it was acceptable, the epilogue was perfect and heartwarming. I wish i could hug these boys at the end, istg they turned some of my hair grey.
And enjoy reading.

Wow! Missing in Action is extraordinary! Kate Canterbary really drilled down deep into emotions in this love story. It's not all sunshine and rainbows though. There are tough issues explored such as acceptance of your reality, who you are and how your past has shaped you. Lots of family dynamics at play here too. I think I held my breath and sat at the edge of my seat the whole time reading the first chapter. It was captivating.

Never in a hundred years would I have bet that Wes Halstead would be attracted to Tom Esbeck. Tom is ordered, measured, buttoned down and has insulated himself from potential emotional harm after childhood trauma. Wes has lived the 'spy life' for years. He protects himself by planning ahead, considering all possibilities and probabilities yet knows that sometimes instantaneously changing plans is a matter of life or death. Talk about opposites! However, Wes is at a crossroads in his life and although the attraction between he and Tom is white hot, there's a sticking point. One that could end a really good thing before it barely begins.

About halfway through my heart was pounding wildly and I was tearing up from the pure beauty of the writing.
Incredibly romantic. Wes is a tortured soul who finds peace only with Tom.
It was exciting, very hot, sweetly loving and one of those books that I kept putting down so I could absorb what I had just read and so it would last longer.
Absolute perfection.

- god save me from this thunderous man -

The perfect recipe for the ultimate MM romance.

Take one bruised, battered but not totally broken spy,
Add in one sassy, snarky, organised to the nth degree man called Tom,
Blend together with enough chemistry and heat to power a volcano,
Throw in great writing, a sprinkle of Walsh goodness, some sunburn and a wedding.
Shake, stir, shake some more and then sit back and enjoy this masterpiece of romance.

Both characters who have appeared at one time or another in previous Walsh books, Wes is the brother to Lauren and Will whilst Tom is the guy who keeps the Walsh architecture firm running. However you can 100% read this as a stand alone story, though you'd be barking mad to miss out on the rest of the Walsh and Halstead families finding their HEA's.

His words were easy, almost matter of fact, but there was nothing easy about the hard glint in his eyes. And those eyes, they shone like an endless night. Deep enough that I almost fell in and drowned...

I can promise this book will grab ahold of your emotions, pummel them into submission, make you laugh, swoon and cry before leaving you with all the feels and a hugely satisfied smile on your face. If this book isn't better than sex it's as close as anything is going to get to it.

A smile warned his face and it took all my strength to keep from dragging him into my arms because anyone with that much sweet and boyish needed to be held close, held tight. And degraded a bit too.

Don't like MM? This is the book that will make you change your mind. Love MM? This is the book that will set the bar so high you'll struggle to find anything else as good. Which ever camp you are currently in, Tom, Wes, their inner struggles, physical and emotional baggage and tender hearts will totally enthrall you. I wanted to snatch this pair up and wrap them up in cotton wool, clutch them to my breast, lavish them with love and hug them until all their hurts went away.

He squeezed my hand again, hard enough to snap my attention away from everything else. "I've got you."

There are moments of humour, from little Abby and her feisty attitude, to Shannon's salty and full of snark texts, moments that will make you swoon and melt, and others that will cut deep into your heart. These are all tied together into an incredible story, one where you won't want to put the book down, one where you won't be able to turn the pages quickly enough, one where you want to get to the end whilst simultaneously never wanting the end of the book to be reached.

My words can't do adequate justice to this story. I loved it. I highly recommend it. It's amazing, fantastic, astounding.

and then he kissed me, hard and fast at first but then deep and deliberate, like sucking caramel off a spoon.

...
..and it was everything. Absolutely everything.

From the minute you read the prologue you get an instant glimpse into the psyche of Wes. It’s heart poundingly intense. He is a survivor, he is methodical, he’s usually ahead of the game, he sees from every angle, he alone is responsible for himself, he expects nothing from anyone and he gives his all. That’s just the opening. However, there is a famous saying, “No man is an island” and let’s just say Wes is about to find that out in all kinds of ways, wether he wants to or not.
Tom Esbeck, is the guy who has his stuff (yeah, we’ll use that word) together. He’s a planner and a doer. Knows what he wants, has great friends and extended family that he loves and is Shannon’s right hand man. Tom has is own demons that he’s working through and knows he has to stick to his plan. However, even the best laid plans don’t always work out the way you thought they would, sometimes they’re even better or not!
Prepare yourself to feel every emotion in your reservoir and some you’re not even aware you are capable to feel.
This is such a timely story and feels so real. The author never lies or waters down anything in her books. She is truthful, educates you and her dialogue is spot on. Kate brings it’s all to the table and you can feel free to feast on every morsel that this story brings to your appetite. I am happy to report that this remains the same and then some. You will be feasting on this book long after you put it down and craving more.
The relationship between Wes and Tom is volatile, sweet, intense, funny, heart wrenching, sexy, heart pounding and leaves you wanting more. Bring your tissues. There are so many parts this applies to, both good and bad.
We are fortunate enough to get together with some of our favorite characters from past books. Don’t worry though if this is your first book by this author. It’s a standalone. I can guarantee (at least on my part) once you read this you will want to connect with all the other characters in this story. Kate Canterbary has quite the catalogue of delicious stories of which you will want to indulge.
I don’t do spoilers for two reasons; one, it’s not fair to the author, you can get the gist from the blurb and two, you deserve to read this for yourself. You don’t need me spoiling your enjoyment. Believe me, I want to discuss everything but I need to stifle myself.
So, I’ve rambled quite enough. What I know is that this is a book that is definitely on my reread list. Congratulations Kate Canterbary, you’ve knocked it out of the park yet again!

Missing In Action – Kate Canterbary

I’ve never read a Kate Canterbary book that I haven’t enjoyed. I didn’t just enjoy Missing In Action I loved it! I love the way that Kate has woven this story and has given us one of the most beautiful stories I’ve ever read. Knowing Tom and Wes from the Walsh series, Kate has now allowed us into their story lives. The before and the now!

Wes and Tom, yes Wes and Tom! Each of them in their own right, a man any girl would give a second glance to. Hell, any man would give them a second glance!! Wes, a trained SEAL and undercover CIA operative exudes control, a real draw right? Wes however, has a lot of issues; forget the injuries on the out side his biggest injuries are on the inside. Then there is Tom, someone who Walsh & Associates could never do without. On the outside Tom could step off the cover of a GQ magazine and you would not know what drives that man. He has fought his demons and he has won, for the most part.

In my entire reading life I don’t think I have read a book that has the amount of feelings that Missing In Action contains. Pain, regret, feeling like an outsider, anger, self protection, fear, flirting, lusting, hot crazy hot sex, trust, disappointment, flight, truths, love and understanding. All of those feelings and more split between 2 characters, once you read MIA you will understand.

As much as I love Wes and Tom together and as much as I love all the Walsh interactions and Walsh events, I have one favourite interaction oddly between two Halsted’s. Uncle Wes and Little Abby! I am giving Abby credit for helping Uncle Wes start to understand what Love really is.

If I could give this book 10 stars I would…so take that statement and know that 5 stars just isn’t enough. To Kate Canterbary, what a freaking amazing job on this book, thank you for Wes and Tom’s story (which is just beginning I hope) To Abby Halsted…Give Love’s little girl, Give Love’s.

I was given an ARC (advanced reader copy) of this book. The review states my feelings and are my words and opinion

This book was everything I didn’t know that I needed in life.

I’ve been a BIG fan of Kate Canterbary’s books for a long time now and I’ve loved Wes and Tom all along but what I didn’t know was how badly I needed both of their stories. As usual, Kate gave us their stories beautifully even if they were full of heartbreak and change and not knowing what comes next. I can not recommend this book highly enough! If you’ve read the past Walsh books, you’ll love catching up with everyone and if you haven’t, this book will still be great (but do yourself a favor and read everything by Kate!).

Blushing over this one. Kate Canterbary never steers me wrong. Wes & Tom’s love story was all the things I needed and Kate delivered it impeccably. I don’t read hardly any M/M, but leave it to KC to draw me in and make me swoon over it. It felt so good to see the fam too. This book reiterates my love for Shannon Walsh. She is a true Mama bear and cares about her family, whether chosen family or blood.

The vulnerable bits that were revealed behind the masks of these two pinched my heart and pricked my eyes. Also, these two were dirtyyyy! I loved every delicious morsel that Kate threw down.

As a fan of the Walsh family series by Ms, Canterbary, I absolutely enjoyed this little jaunt through that neighborhood in Romancelandia.

Wes and Tom have intrigued me as individuals for years, so I was always wondering if she was going to go there. Even with the teaser she left in her last book, I wondered if it was ever happening, but I’m so glad she did.

One of Ms. Canterbary’s many skills is to take a character that you think you know and really give the reader a chance to see them in a different light. Here, Wes and Tom’s Firsts worked well for me, and without going into deep spoiler territory, I enjoyed getting a chance to get to know them as individuals, instead of just supporting players in other’s love stories. My only quibbles with this is while their black moment was appropriate, the resolution felt way too abrupt to be as satisfying as I would like. So, while this isn’t my fave in the series (that will always be a tie between Restored and Preservation), I did love getting to see Tom and Wes find their way to an HEA.

This story does work as a standalone, but much like any long running series, you will be wondering about the backstory for the family and friends who make an appearance, so I still think you should read the whole series. If you are a fan, you'll love seeing past couples living their HEA, and even that off-hand Stremmel reference made me happy (yep, he's still mine @Michelle_The_Bibliophile and @Rachelann785).

However, if you’re a fan of Ms. Catnerbary’s prose in general and the Walsh family in particular, and love any chance to see them again, I definitely think you’ll enjoy this.

This was one of my most highly anticipated reads of 2020, and it's a brilliant 5 stars. Wes and Tom y'all. WES & TOM! They brought that salivating, heart-twitching, butterfly-inducing goodness.

If you're a fan of M/M romance, then you'll absolutely love this story. If you're not, I guarantee you this author will make you a believer in M/M romance. These two were the ever-loving side characters in the Walsh series books. Tom is a well-put-together professional in the Walsh family's architecture firm. He's a perfectionist at heart and has clear-set boundaries in place for both his professional and personal life. Wes is the "secret agent" who lapses in and out of his family's life. With a perpetual knack for all things CIA, he can't imagine a world where he'll ever have to think about anything outside of the job that exists right in front of him.

Right from the beginning, both of their worlds get flipped upside down and they find themselves at different crossroads. There is so much soul-searching going on in this book. Fear of the unknown, unplanned, and unseen have both Wes and Tom taking reluctant steps in building their relationship.

The gut-clenching moments of tenderness between these two made for such a beautiful story. They're both desperately in need of some good loving and even though they initially seem like opposites, you quickly discover that they're more alike than you can imagine.

They're both vulnerable in their own unique ways that make for quite a journey through love. The backstories that this author winds into their lives are brilliant because truly set the tone of this romance.

But the best part? These two are naughty. They're dirty-talking, dual-alpha, and flirtatious AF. I love their banter as much as I love their tenderness and vulnerability. I can't recommend this book enough.
