First of all I was expecting a lot from this new Marantz AVR the SR 8015, and it has delivered above and beyond my expectations. I have only been "playing" with this "beast" for the past 2 month's and I'm still learning all that this machine has to offer. I have owed many Denon products over the years starting in the late 80's and they have given me and my family many years of enjoyment, and all but one are still functioning as we speak.  When I decided to update my home theater, I chose Marantz and this machine because of the many options, capabilities, build quality, and Marantz's engineering reputation of creating very beautifully sounding products. I have to admit to being in awe of Marantz since I was a young lad and exposed to them through a close friend's father who was a engineer, and audiophile. I have always wanted to own a Marantz product, and my day has finally arrived. For me a AVR is more about the sound and the reproduction of music, more than the visuals, but this machine delivers everything exceptionally well. I'm currently running a 7.2.2 configuration with a separate amp to drive the front L/R speakers, and running everything through the SR 8015. It handles all my components with ease, including my new OLED display, TiVo, Ultra HD Blu-ray, Apple TV, Turntable, Sonos connect, and Cassette Deck (only for play back). Movies, stereo, and surround sound music is absolutely stunning. I throughly enjoyed my system before the upgrade, but this Marantz product backed by their expertise, has taken my room to a whole new exciting level.

SR8015 Delivered above & beyond my expectations

This replaces an Onkyo TX-NR3030. The only thing i think I'll miss about the Onkyo is that it had XLR pre-outs for the left and right channels which i had hooked up to an external amp. So far i don't think i will miss them. I'll mention some of the input sources for those who may be researching this AVR.

The setup of this unit was reallt easy using the guided on-screen commands. Audyssey setup took about 15 minutes and it does make a noticeable difference, really impressed. The option to have 2 presets for the speaker configuration is really handy. I have one preset for two channel stereo listening and the 2nd preset is for the 7.2.4 movie listening. All of the ground speakers are Definitive Technology and I plan to replace the four ceiling speakers with Def Tech's as well soon.

The remote is very basic, but the Marantz remote app for IOS is very useful. This is my first experience with HEOS and it's been great so far. It was nice to see that I can stream TIDAL using the HEOS app.

I'm not a gamer, so the HDMI 2.1 Panasonic chip issue does not really bother me and i didn't purchase the SR8015 with gaming in mind. PS5 really has no issue and there is a work around for newer XBOX's.  Even though there is a work around for the new gaming consoles, Marantz has already acknowledged the issue and has stated they are working on a permanent solution. Which i was glad to see and am looking forward to.

For those who may be researching this AVR and wondering how well various sources work with it, this is what's currently used as inputs and outputs

eARC works very well when viewing and listening to the various streaming apps from a LG CX OLED.  Full Dolby Atmos comes through.

For those wondering about placement, this weighs about 40 pounds and i have it on the bottom shelf of an entertainment console that has tempered glass as a shelf. I'm not worried about the weight because the Onkyo weighed 49 pounds and sat on the same shelf for 7 years. The back is open, not enclosed and there is about two inches of clearance at the top.

I'm still tweaking all the settings, but even with just the settings I've made so far it sounds great and handles all the switching wonderfully. I'm new to Marantz and i like the experience so far.

Great First Experience with Marantz

The 8015 is a beast with finesse that I fell in love with when I took it out of the box. It has a very high wife acceptance factor, and will enhance the decor of most any room. I have it set up with my Definitive SM65 speakers, with Definitive SR8090 surrounds. Having previously owned an Onkyo RZ receiver, I was really curious how this receiver would measure up. Suffice to say, and I'm sorry Onkyo, but the RZ810 could not come close to how excellent this receiver is. When playing films I was very familiar with, my speakers came alive in ways they hadn't previously-I didn't know how good my speakers were until they were played by the 8015. My surrounds convey 100% more material than my previous receiver, so much so that I was in disbelief. And if movie experiences couldn't get any better, as much as I LOVE my Marantz 40N, this receiver holds it's own in stereo, and gives you the audiophile grade experience. When setting this unit up, I needed help and called Marantz (yes, I didn't read the manual:) I have to mention that I was so pleasantly surprised at the customer experience I got from Sean today when I called Marantz. He could not have been cooler, really took the time to find answers if he needed to, was super polite, and really restored my faith that customer service was still alive and well-he is an asset to Marantz and Sound United so I had to mention- respect Sean. All in all, I absolutely love this receiver, and Marantz in general.  P.S., my dog approves too!

Stunning looks and stellar audiophile performance

This is my second Marantz receiver. I needed one that was capable of at least 11.2. 
This thing really delivers. The sound is phenomenal and the picture quality is very good as well.

Tons of power.. great headroom & sound quality. Switching works flawlessly…good tech.  Wish there was more adjustability for the dual subwoofer outputs & room correction.  All in all a great product!

Sr8015 Boasts Great Performance!

It sounds good, full, and vocales are beautifull but is not dynamic and does not bring my subwoofer to life as I use it for latín music. The music sounds flat and boring with very litlle bass no matter the levels. Also I can't control bass and treble with the remote. I also purchased the addysey app  and  the curv dots are very unresponsive to the touch.

I wanted it more dynamic and punchy.

The SR8015 I putchased did not sound as good as i expected given it's flagship status. I could not get the LFE+Main to drive the sub during stereo playback. Playback with bluetooth would stutter, crackle and then stop altogether.  Also I was unable to get the Heos app to connect with the AVR. Finally, a firmware update took 33 minutes compared to 3 minutes with another brand.

SR 8015

Have owned the SR8015 for almost a year now. It does not support 8k 120Hz for my gaming system as advertised. Integration with my top of the line Sony TV is poor. The audio often cuts out. The sound quality is no better than my previous SR7011. The interface for programming and configuration is 1990s. It runs hot. Overall I regret my purchase and investment. Every time I turn on my system I cross my fingers that it will work properly. Most of the time it does boot up and work after a minute or so. Too often, the audio does not work until I reboot my system.
