    My husband and I call this “The Manhattan Toy”, as if there aren’t other Manhattan products out there. When we call it this it just sounds exponentially superior to other toys. And it is. Or it was, I should say. Everything has a season.

    We received this as a baby gift and now it is my #1 go to if I need a baby gift. I’d say it’s at its prime for babies 2-5 months, from my experience at least. This isn’t to say my 6 month old doesn’t still love it, but it’s no longer the “go to” toy, as babies developmentally need more stimulation and variety as their little minds grow.

    I cosleep with my baby and I used to be able to wake up with him, hand him this toy and fall back asleep. This toy was a lifesaver for me! He would just hold it and stare and it and fall back asleep. That progressed to holding it and staring and rotating. And so on.

    At first glance, it doesn’t look like it should be rated among the top baby toys but this thing is neat! Baby can slide his little fingers in there to hold it and be able to get a firm grip on it to shake it and when he can do that it makes the rattle noise.

     This toy is really fun and light weight for baby to easily hold with one or two hands. The box in the middle is a rattle making it more entertaining for baby. The plastic rings are soft and bendable. My only complaint is that it’s hard to clean. You shouldn’t submerge in water because water could get into the box potentially creating a mold issue. So in order to clean it you have to wipe down each ring individually making it tedious to clean.

    It looks weird. I don't know how to describe what it is. But my son loves it. He first saw on at the community health unit and tried to rip it out of their ceiling where it was hanging. Bought him one shortly after that incident, 4 months later he still loves this thing!

    It's not heavy, the tubes are all made out of soft hollow plastic that is very squishy and bendy, he chews on it a bit but I think it's just too interesting to look at so he doesn't keep it in his mouth for long. The little cube in the middle is hard plastic with a rattle inside, so fun to shake. Because the outer part is soft, the whole thing has quite a bit of bounce to it and my son really enjoys smacking it into the ground or throwing it.

    Fits well into the diaper bag as it's not too large, great for taking on trips out because it's easy to clean. Definitely an item I would give to new moms as a baby shower gift!
