Publisher's summary

He needs an image makeover; she needs a mojo upgrade. A new lessons-in-seduction hockey romance from Wall Street Journal best-selling author Sarina Bowen.

After I’m arrested for throwing a raucous party, my hockey team says I have an image problem. And I need to fix it, stat.

Charity work? Check. Haircut? Sure. But I draw the line at hiring my neighbor to style me. In the first place “style” shouldn’t be a verb. And I’m tired of people who’d judge me on appearances.

Vera and I don’t see eye to eye on anything. She wants me to try on clothes, while I just want to remove hers. She's distractingly pretty, with soulful eyes and a sinful mouth that likes to argue with me.

But when management threatens my summer vacation, I grudgingly agree to Vera’s unusual proposal: She’ll give me an image makeover. But in return, she wants lessons in the art of seduction.

It sounds a little nutty, but I know a good opening when I hear it. Besides, it’s not like I’ll ever fall for her....

Fun book

This was a fun read. I normally don't like hate to love books because I find them caustic and unhealthy. This was not that, not even close. It was more two people stuck in their heads unable to consider the others perspective. That is until their forced to get to know each other and realize their pre-conceived notions were untrue. Both are quick to realize their wrong and own up to it.
This was a fun book! I loved the message of not listening to your inner "b**ch. I also love how she uses her knowledge of clothes to help him through his problem.

Love Lessons was so enjoyable and fun!

I never tire of Sarina Bowen's world of Brooklyn hockey players- Bruisers, Bombshells, and their friends too. When hockey player Ian and stylist Vera at first glance don't seem suited to each other, just wait! Add in a super romantic getaway with their friends to Italy and we get fantastic witty banter, shopping sprees, and some smokin' hot love lessons for Vera from Ian. I listened to the audiobook and was super excited when I saw Joe Arden was narrating as Ian. I wasn't as familiar with Rose Dioro but am now a fan as she gave a great performance as well. Love Lessons was so enjoyable and fun!

Loved it! Love this series!

I really enjoyed this one! I loved getting to see these two characters come together and figure things out. Vera's inside voice is very critical and definitely makes itself known in affecting her confidence and the way she views certain things. Ian is trying to deal with the aftermath from the fight that went horribly wrong in the last season that is still affecting him (during a hockey game). He wasn't injured but the other person was seriously affected and even though Ian never wanted to hurt the kid he is feeling serious guilt. Both of them have to learn to work through that. They are so good together as Ian helps Vera have fun and she helps settle him some so that people can see that he is a good guy. This story pulled me in from beginning to end and I really enjoyed it! It was fun and takes place during the off season so don't get to see much hockey but it was still a great book and it sets up for the next season. I can't wait for the next book in this series!
The narrators did a great job with this one and brought the characters to life. I loved the accents they used and you could hear the emotions.

Another winner!

4.5 Stars ⭐️

What can I say? I really, really like this series. I'm not sure what it is about the Brooklyn Bruisers and the hockey world that Sarina Bowen has created, but I absolutely LOVE it. II particularly love the opportunity to step back into the world and take a peek at the characters that we have come to know and love - in addition to meeting a new female character while also getting to know a certain male character even better.

This book has us meeting Vera - a friend of Charlie's who also happens to live next door to Ian Crikey. This is a case of opposites attracting but the pace takes just the right pace to make everything realistic. Throw in several of the team guys (and their wives) spending a few weeks in Italy and you have the makings of a fun, easy paced story.

I liked Vera and I liked Ian. Vera did move a little slower than I would have liked in her thought process, but it was believable and served its purpose. Ian came across a bit arrogant at the beginning, but it was easy to see that his heart was enormous and that his motives genuine.

All in all another winner in this wonderful Brooklyn Bruisers Series. I can't wait to see who is up next in the que.

Loved this

Something about this went beyond. I loved Vera and Ian. Great characters, challenges and their ways to overcome. Ian was so sweet under all his masculinity. My new book boyfriend.

Best Book of the whole series

I have everyone one of these books. They never get old to listen over & over. Because I do. Honestly until the last 2 Trevy & O'Doul's was my favorite. **SPOILER ALERT**
I cried when O'Doul left. It was done super classy. Not to give too much away. I cried toward the end there it was really intense. Especially if O'Doul's books was enjoyed by the reader.
I am a huge hockey fan. Played boys pond hockey as goalie. Well before there was a woman team. I love the fact this series didn't go off the grid & put a female in the NHL.
The WNHL is not only safer for us women, but it is also just as cool as the NHL. Playing with boys as a pre teen & early teen is quite equal. When puberty hits I found out the hard way BIOLOGY ALWAYS WINS!
Even us girls raised by Marine dad's that told us we can be & do anything if we give 110%.
I wish that the WNHL would be able to pay them a fair wage. I hope that time will come. Bec women's hockey is tougher then men's hockey. Until those women can get paid enough money that they can fight it won't draw the crowds the men's do. Its a sad fact violence (I call it a self refree game) is part of the long culture & still a big draw. Even for this cultured old woman. I really hope this wasn't the end of the series. Bec then I would have to find another for my hockey love.

Always a good read

Sarina Bowen never lets me down. A mostly happy story with additions from the previous characters I love. Just what I needed to get through the day. Seems silly to complain that I wish it was longer so I could enjoy these characters more but I know better than to wish for that because the miserable part is what is usually added. This has just enough to make the great part perfect and not so much that you are talking to the hero or heroine to figure it out already.
